what i was trying to say was giving things up like wealth and material things and even your freedom for the greater good, usually when religious people say sacrifice is suicide or killing someone who your taught is evil or below you.
but i guess your right sacrifice is a religious word for most of history.

His didn't include the lines, "[A] different consciousness that's needed in the world today, a consciousness of the unity of all humanity and of the need to protect the earth, of the need for peace, for social justice, for non violence. I don't see any other institutions even claiming as their central raison d'etra.
My father taught me religion is some thing you give your whole self totally over to even if it appears to be wrong.
Thats were we are now most people accept their own enslavement by the capitalist system because they cant think beyond that and accept it as being good for them.
You only have to look at history like slavery and the holocaust to see that eventually people accept its their lot in life, we have to get out of this mindset but it will mean sacrifice but not in the religious term.
