I've worked with Louis in his bookstore(Grass Roots Afro-American Bookstore) on (Old Dryades) Oretha C. Haley Blvd. in the early 70s. I also rented one on his houses located next to the "Center" on Washington and Derbigny Streets. It's true, He DID work as a landscaper and use his profits to purchase numerous properties in the Broadmoor section ot New Orleans. I'm now living in Houston, Tx. now but planning to travel back and forth to N.O. to help the Brother out. BELIEVE ME, HE'S DEDICATED !
I wonder how Mr. Harding is faring these days? He has an important perspective, bringing up the fact that Blacks have accomplished many things aside from entertainment and sports. That is an important, valuable perspective.
I wish Goob would STFU! He has commented on here more than anyone! Quit being a whiny bitch! Ya'll always wanna say Black people complain.. Ain't that the pot? LMAO! I'm glad OUR PEOPLE are getting something done! To all those who are going to partake in building the center.. MUCH LOVE!
GoobMcDoofer (comment above). I understand what you're saying but you're a white man who cannot even imagine the African American's oppression. To the point when you see us partying in videos, as comedians, playing sports, etc. Know it's only a RAW subliminal expression of hurt. Hurt from theft, rape, slavery (thats still occuring), imprisonment, genocide and I can go on and on. Feel bad if you are anything like your evil counterparts. `Brilliant Movie!
There is no height to which we cannot climb by using the active intelligence of our own minds. Mind creates, and as much as we desire in Nature we can have through the creation of our own minds. -- Marcus Garvey
This guy is talking as if he wants to see only black people do good. I dont like people like that. I like to see everyone do good, just because i'm white doesnt mean I want to see peole from my race do good. I want people to get what they deserve, a race deserves nothing, an individual who is a good person who does good deserves a good life.
Hi,Im sorry ...well I feel sorry for you, for feeling that way.Our people have struggled for over 200 years and you dont think that we accomplish what the whites have for years , and we should not feel proud.Get a life and seek God.
Huh?You dont even know me so why did you say "you dont think that we accomplish what the whites have for years, and we should not feel proud.".I didnt say you didnt accomplish anything,I dont even know you.I dont like the fact that it seems like hes segregating himself from other races. When youre someone who has friends of a lot of different races you tend to not understand people with a segregation mentality.
Somehow, with this spirit, I know the centre has not really been destroyed - what a loud colour, I like the video. The sunshine on the damage is particularly poignant. Mix of history and now. What an accomplishment indeed. Great perspective. Takes more than one person with a vision.
Thank you for this message.

Very touching documentary.
New Orleans was a SOULFUL city. What a shame to see it so destroyed because of the criminal negligence of the government.
I hope they are getting financial help to bring it back to its original state. They certainly need it.
Looking forward to seeing more videos of the work in progress.

Mr. Harding is to be commended for his vision! This is a wonderful video. The story is told in a great way. I wish they would play this in schools.
