Does anyone know why the controls don't work under dosbox, everything works perfectly except for the freaking controls, I'm trying to use the keypad but it doesn't work.

Actually I found out about the bug. It's related to dosbox. I tried plugging a different generic keyboard and it works perfectky. The one I have right now is a genius keyboard, for some reason the keypad doesn't work under dosbox. Ecstatica 2 works fine though.

Btw the game is freaking hard. Bad guys are always chasing you and thus you are always running. Also if a bad guy gives you the first hit it's almost impossible to escape. Though from seeing your video it seems that I need to find that sword, makes everything a little bit easier.

This is some amazing realtime 3D for 1993/94. This game totally stymied me back in the day but I think it's fantastic. I'd totally play an updated version with state of the art graphics if they kept the same whimsical gothic horror style and the fairly slow, puzzle-based gameplay with combat mixed in.

It's not completely realtime 3D. Only the characters are rendered in realtime. The scenery is prerendered.

Played this one throught. Man, took some time to get used to the controls: turning AND running was impossible. And these monsters kept showing up all the time. It wasn't so much about killing them, or anyone. Pure Horror Survival game that one was, quiet little, but complex in terms of all the places to visit. There was a sequel, and Spencer did another, similiar game with cops. Though I guess they never released it...
