This should be play on a program that features the Mahler 3rd, so audiences can hear the obvious connections for themselves. This music probably influenced Mahler more than any other. The coda for a finale of the 3d is practically lifted straight out of Blanik. (Of course, Smetena in turn got it from Schumann's conclusion to part 1 of Das Paridies und die Peri :)
