I love the relationship between Jack and Desmond, but I wish they had kept it up during seasons 3, 4, and 5. Their ending was good in season 6, with the cork, light and the aftelife, but I think they should have been as much emphasis on the relationship between the two throughout the show as there was between Jack and Locke. And the same for Locke and Desmond, because they showed a lot of potential in the season 2 premiere and finale. I consider them the three central characters of the show.

Something to ponder, considering a certain Jacob spoiler.
With my theory that MIB is the devil and Jacob is God, the line "running like the devil is chasing you," takes on a whole new meaning in the context of this show. Same with "lift it up," seeing as the island is underwater in the alternate timeline. Desmond has always seemed like he knew more than he was saying in this conversation, like it was all doublespeak for something else, island-related.

If you've watched the season premiere of Prison Break, and caught that part about the Scylla monster portion of the Odysseus story, a greek hero that practically literally parallel's Desmond's story, and it made you think of Lost's Desmond, you know what I mean.
