yeah i did. I even tried it again tonight and im waiting for it to dry. i must have attempted this method 10 times all failures :( Im using 98% sulfuric acid and pure KNO3. im not sure if the equilibrium is favoring the products or what.
Well all I can say to help is make sure you add a loy of kno3 and powder it before hand, and try letting it soak longer. I let one soak for almost 24 hours now and I'll go get it soon.
The 24 hours one turned into slop and diddn't burn well.
I found out that the turning to slop and being weak with black residue is because sulfuric acid with too low of a concentration will "hydrolize" the cotton and turn it into sugar. So I will make mine more concentrated by heating, I think it needs 300 degrees C.
yep my cotten turned to slop in 2 hours , I also heated the sulfuric acid and added the Kno3 with no problems then I added the cotton and it vanished instantly lol. I just wanted to see what would happen. I also kinda got a nitrated cotton but not as good as yours. Im thinking ill just buy 2.5 Liters of nitric acid and make RDX or TNT maybe NC

I don't think that would do it, I think you make nitrocellulose and mix it with camphor and alcohol.
Mabey wikipedia would say.
