I stayed in Ermita area during my first visit in 2008. It was not as appealing an area as I was hoping, but the hotel was great. For the most part, I rather enjoyed it. I do agree that Makati is much safer. It's my place of choice when visiting the Philippines, before proceeding to Mindanao.
It's so awesome to know you're enjoying your stay in the Philippines! I love the fact you did some research on the culture and history too. Stay cool! Haha!
woot for Makati! i stayed on makati avenue. sunette towers and City Garden had decent hotel rates there. it was fun there. a taste of asia, yet english widely used which made it easy to get around. not to mention i found most the filipino people to be very friendly :D i got a laugh from hearing all the loud scooters running around! ahh i miss that place!
WOW DUDE this is AWESOME! Manila looks Amazing!! Ahhh 羨ましい XD How were you able to meet so many people already lol And the ladiez love you man! geez hahaha
The Philippines are my home country, but I've been living almost my whole live in Germany, moved to America and Japan.
But every time I am home, I love that the Filipinos are happy, even if the living conditions and everything are totally different, they are happy and try to the best oft their lives.
hey welcome to Manila! the monument you went to was not about the martial law but it was the revolution against the spanish people who were here for 333 years :) the guy carrying the KKK sign is another national hero, Andres Bonifacio :D
so cool to have you here and starting a vlog, GOOD LUCK!!!
@Ido013 Hehe - they reminded me of the high school girls I taught in Japan and Korea. I was suprised when I asked them and they said they were students at the university...look so young. O.o
Wow ur first country video :), that's so nice :), how are u handling the Tagalog? :-p good luck for u that in the philippines almost everyone speak english :D, good luck and thanks for the video , ill wait for the next location, or another philippines video
@ToLokyo u know, im not sure about it, but the pronunciation and some of the tagalog word roots, come from spanish.. i think it could be a lot easier if u speak spanish.
i'll keep watching, this is fun. i hope you enjoy yourself and you go somewhere new soon... when your travels are done and you are of the age to settle down, where do you think you will settle down?
Metro Manila is the collective term for the cities that make up the national capital region, but there IS a city called Manila, and you've just been there in the video when you checked out Universidad de Manila. ^^ And no, the shrine that has KKK there isn't to commemorate the Marshal Law; it was to pay homage to KKK (not the same KKK in the US!) and their efforts to free the Philippines from the Spaniards more than 100 years ago. :D
Anyway, great video! :D Now I miss my country even more.
@geysers777 Thanks for the info! I'm starting to understand it better now. Been staying mostly in Makati, but I went through a couple other cities as well.
I made a mistake talking about that monument - it's just next to a different monument that was actually about the people abducted under Marshal Law, but as you said, the one I showed was for the Katipunan. It was bigger and made for a better image than the one I was talking about. :P
@ToLokyo Ah yeah. Towards the end there? Heh. Guess I've seen enough here that not too much shocks me in the hair department. Kinda hoping you can find something out there that does shock me. :-D
MAN!!! Glad to see things are going well!!! You look sooo happy and excited to be alive and about the world!!! I gotta say that in the past few videos you were looking a but sad and crabby... Not any more!!! What a friendly city, every1 Seems so inviting. Great video! Manila looks great from the end of your arm! If this is any indication of encounters to come you are in for an awesome ride!!! And Ill/we will be here right along with you!!! Arnt we all lucky!!!?
@comfortbeat Turns out that memorial, next to the one I was actually talking about, was for the Katipunan (aka KKK), which was a Filipino revolutionary society back in 1892 - has some connection with Rizal (the guy in the aviator glasses at the live music club).
Wow what a view in Manilla. Love the video ^_^. I usually don't get much sleep when I move to a new city, seems you didn't get much either judging by your hairstyle :_).
@ToLokyo Wow thats going to be crazy, Im curious how much money do you have saved up for this crazy adventure? and how long do you plan on going places?
Dont have to answer if you dont want people knowing how much cash your spending its cool! Looking forward to your videos!
