hey i have a question. i just bought one of these cameras and figured out there was a manual focus. but when i try and use it, it zooms in like a lot. why is that and can you help? thanks

open menu then the third tab , turn of the Focus assistance .

@hiddenlab From what I've heard from owners of versions of the Vixia WITH a light, its a blesing rather then a curse NOT to have one.

Most Digi-cams lights are bright and don;t actually make a difference from the cameras view (aka its a useless annoying bright light)

@sukoshineko there's a menu you must go through to get it. I would like to be able to independently control the aperture (exposure) of it.

@kauxkaux No it doesn't have a focus ring but yes for manual focus. I have the same camera but not sure how to do manual focus yet.

hey very important question! what do u recomend because my friends selling the canon hf m30 for $400 and i see them online and stores for $600? that seems like a awesome deal!!! or should i just buy this one for $400? which is better HD and has just crisp videos? whats all around better camcorder? thank you, i need to know by this friday

@AdamTolleTV I'd say get the canon hf m30, I mean my camcorder is pretty nice but it doesn't have a remote..which kinda makes me upset, ha oh well. So I'd prefer you on getting that instead of the canon vixia :D

How did you make it so that you focus on one thing and everything else around it looks blurry or squinted?

@JayRockstarTv By opening the LCD Panel or screen.You point your camera to whatever you want to show on the screen,keep it there for as long as you want.Then you'll see there's a joystick on the left side that you could move from side to side or up and down.And to focus an object, you press on the "SET" button and move it left or right then the screen will say "Focus Assistance" and it'll zoom in to whatever you're pointing to. Move to the joystick to the right it'll focus on far objects

@JayRockstarTv and move it to the left it will focus on near or close objects. And it's built in with a face detection. So, that's a plus. For vlogging or whatever.

@MrBehindthewall It's set on Portrait the whole time... I don't know why I didn't change it. But oh well. The Digital Effect was OFF. The High Quality was on 12 Mbps. LW was 1920x 1080. Frame Rate was 60i (Standard). The x.v. Color was ON. Digital Zoom was 400x. The Zoom Speed was on Variable. The AF Mode was a Normal AF. And the Image Stabilizer was on Standard.

Oh and the Auto Backlight Correction was ON.
