  • Barbara Stanwyck was really remarkable. She has a tremendous gift for "shaking" our emotions!! She was a faultless actress and a very beautiful human being. I feel so inspired by the woman she was! She was smart, kind, elegant, humble, brave .. in a nutshell, all the best virtues she had! All my love to her! Thank you for posting the movie and for keeping her legacy alive here. :)

  • Keys is the original Colombo.

  • I loved Edward G. Robinson in this

  • They don't make classics like this anymore. Thanks for uploading it!

  • Wholesome actors Fred and Ms. Stanwyck did justice to their anti-heroine characters. Billy Wilder is great! I like the dialogue of friendship at the ending scene.Congrats for posting this classic film noir.

  • i wonder if a little rum would get this up on it's (iced tea) feet?

  • I didn’t like it. I loved it but there’s no button for that.

  • Dane Cook / Katherine Heigl. Kitschy. Juvenile. Dick jokes. Sexism. Vote me down for justice!

  • Interesting, that just might be the only "the car won't start" scene that I have witnessed that actually felt suspenseful. Out of Sight was for comedic effect. Cujo was a plot device. The Terminator has merit. But, this one stopped my heart, legitimately.

  • Bruce Campbell could nail this performance, baby.

  • Thank you so much for this great film! I first saw it in the mid 90s as part of a course in film history. This film was my introduction to film noir, and it's really good to see it again.

  • From the great James Cain, who also wrote The Postman Always Rings Twice.

  • Phyllis has extremely pointy tits. If i was Walter i'd try not to get my eye poked out.. ;)

  • "I wonder if I know what you mean."

"I wonder if you wonder."...OMG great dialogue!

  • Edward G. Robinson as Keyes with his logical breakdown of the facts. A great deducer.

  • Good movie, Walter has a wedding ring on.

  • This is a very good film; it's all sex and violence; two great ingredients that people never tire of.

That and it's also very well done by Billy Wilder.

  • MrElephantMemory, I thank you for the wonderful upload.

  • As a rule, man is a fool. He likes it cool when it's hot, he wants it hot when it's cool. In a nutshell, will do anything for a few minutes of pleasure.

  • please upload more classic movies

  • Great movie

  • Gives me a class on Film Noir.

  • "Sometimes Murder can smell like honeysuckle"

Great line from Double Indemnity and sums up what makes film noir guys follow the dame straight into hell -- eyes wide open and grinning from ear to ear.

  • @noirchild58 Beautifully put!

I once asked a friend of mine why Neff would do such a thing for this woman; his answer, "She's blowing his balls off!" (She's giving him sex like he never imagined.)

  • BRILLIANT,SUPURB MAGNIFICENT....THE BEST FILM FILM NOIR OF ALL TIME...

I POSITIVELY LOVE THIS FILM !!!

  • My favorite director of all time, and by a hairsbreadth, my favorite movie by him. Maybe my favorite movie, period. Doesn't get better than this.

  • One of the greatest films of all time and Barbara Stanwyck in the sexiest role ever. Knocks spots off all the modern explicit stuff, which soon gets boring. This is timeless. You don't have to take your clothes off to...

  • Great mystery and suspense

  • I thought YouTube had a 10-minute max. Don't know how you got the whole movie on here in one go, but thank you!

  • Great film, but an absolutely MAGNIFICENT book!

  • Keyes: Solving murder LIKE A BOSS! ;)

  • You can't trust a good-looking dame

  • @westlock Don't be prejudiced....You can't trust ugly ones either.....

  • You have got to love that line (your all washed up walter) hehehe

  • For many years I've heard this film title bandied around. I got it on youtube vai virginmedia. But lordy the internet cnnection kept on cutting out EVERYTIME I get 3qu way through Since 4 attempts via vitginmedia. This is my 5th attempt via a conventional pc. I'll FINALLY SEE THE CONSLUSION. So much for Tivo, cutting edge technology. Stanwhick isn't fabulously beautiful as many people have claimed. That metallic curtly set hair. awful.

  • The best movie ever made!

  • I want those matches!!!!!

  • I know it's cliché but I have to say it...They don't make 'em like this anymore.

  • You can't beat the classics! Thanks for sharing.

  • Any actress who is contemplating a role as a "black widow" needs to watch Barbara Stanwyck.

  • Masterpiece.

  • Probably the best film noir ever. Stand out performances. The directing is superb. Not a bit of this film is over or under done. It's like a perfect steak. It was nominated, but lost the Best Picture Oscar to Going My Way. Stanwyck is a brilliant sociopath.

  • Absolutely Fantastic, I haven't seen this movie for 30yrs.

    Thanks For Posting This..

  • Excellent movie ! This is the ultimate greatest & definitive classic film noir of all time ! It doesn't get any better than this.

  • Very good movie. Thanks for sharing.

  • CLASSIC!!!!!!! One of my favorites!!!Thank YOU

  • I Love This Movie....Crime NEVER Pays!

    Thanks for loading it!

  • $100000 in 1944 would be $1,250,000.00 today. This is a great movie.

  • No just messing with George

  • George raft turned down this role too. Doh!

  • Thank you so much! One of my all time favorites.

  • Wouldn't Fred MacMurray have made a great Philip Marlowe?

  • @BillFugate

    I couldn't agree more!

  • It's odd how MacMurray only played villians (or dupes) 3 times in his career, but those 3 are his most memorable movies. The other 2 are The Caine Mutiny and The Apartment.

  • ALL OF BARBARA STANWYCK'S MOVIES ARE GREAT-- she was a great actress and humanitarian--- one of the absolute most kind and real people that ever was. R I P BARBARA

  • Great movie. And if there is anybody out there who doesn't know what "Film Noir" is , this is a perfect example!

  • Thanks man you got me a A for finding this movie for free lol. You the man for uploading this

  • good man :)

  • My bird loves the opening theme music, and so do I. Very memorable. This film has one of the best scores EVER!

  • what is the name of the actor who plays walter neff?

  • @jrizzzle93 - Try reading (if you ever learned) the opening credits. Here's a hint - it's not Barbara Stanwyck.

  • Comment removed

  • @jrizzzle93 Fred MacMurray

  • @jrizzzle93 Fred McMurray

  • @jrizzzle93 Walter Neff is the great Fred MacMurray! A very versatile actor. You should see him in another film directed by Billy Wilder, "The Apartment", with Jack Lemon and Shirley Maclaine.

  • MrElephantMemory. You. Are. My. Hero.

  • I love this movie. Love the dialogue. The part when they first meet and the whole speeding ticket dialogue. This had to be Chandler. I believe this is the only script he ever wrote. Great Billy Wilder directing. The first time he sees her. She sunbathes naked and he is there to cover her. Brilliant music while he is waiting for her to come down with this wonderful Chandler voice over. And the ankle bracelet. You know you're in trouble. Thank you for posting this masterpiece.

  • I hate lighting matches but watching Fred MacMurray lighting those matches so many times it makes me want to light one!!!

  • Thanks to youtube, I'm aware of a great many movies. What makes a movie great comes down to story. Otherwise there's the same artisan high craftsmanship in camera, lighting and editing.

Mainly, what sets this movie apart is the narrated storytelling. So many other movies have convoluted plots that weakens the storytelling.

  • Thanks for putting this up. Great movie. Now I know where they spoof that funny detective voice from lol

  • I hope you win the lottery for posting this. If you already have I hope you win it again.

  • Next time I watch this I'll wear a tuxedo.

  • This is my favorite movie of all time!

Some of the dialog is truely priceless, esp. in the scene of Phyllis and Walter's first meeting. ("How fast was I going, Officer?") etc. etc. etc.

Edward G. Robinson had no match. My favorite actor. How brilliant were his rapidly-spoken speeches, which he made looked so easy. Wow!

My favorite part is when he takes the glass from his boss ("May I have that?", then doesn't wait for him to answer), drinks it and some of it spills onto his vest.

    Thanks.

  • these films are a time capsule into what i perceive to be simpler times at least in comparison to the present.

  • One of arts best pieces of work. A masterpiece in suspense and crime. Billy Wilder......an awesome writer.

  • @peymaania Uhhhh....

  • Great Movie but to do this for Phyllis Dietrichson why would he trust her at all,

Now Lana Turner in the Post Man always rings Twice it does not matter for her anything.

  • thank you! Brilliant!

  • Thanks for uploading, baby.

  • This is definitely one of the best films I have ever seen. I can't get over the different type of role mcmurray is playing. What a sleaze. Thank you for posting such a great classic!

  • I never get over how amazing Miklos Rozsa's score is. It's just an absolute masterpiece.

  • Greatest movie ever!

This movie is the "standard" all others are measured against.

  • I think my favorite Billy Wilder film is "Witness for the Prosecution."

  • Classic movie with great acting.

  • Edward G. Norton as Barton Keyes is a boss in this movie.

  • @rlclark50 Norton?

  • @PatrickLHawkins Haha, I completely cross some wires in my brain thinking of Mr. Norton and I was watching Red Dragon. Good catch, my mistake.

  • Fred must have really loved his wife, for he never removed his wedding band for this part. Look at scenes around the times of 44:00 and 1:02:00 and 1:36:50 and you'll see it, plain as day, Fred with his wedding band on. Either the director never saw it or Fred insisted that it stay on.

  • @huskyjerk Wowser! You have a great eye for details! :)

  • @Glinkaism1 Fred also wears his wedding band in the movie "Pushover", which is here at YouTube. Not sure why this continues to happen, other than the director and editing crew were lax in their duties.

  • @huskyjerk Thanks! I'll word-search it here. :)

The elevator guy held is age very well. He played a washroom attendant in "Atlantic City," released in 1980.

  • @Glinkaism1 Did you find "Pushover"? Great Fred Mac film !

  • @huskyjerk Yes, I did find it. I will watch it. Right now, I discovered several Sherlock Holmes movies. I'm just starting to watch one now. :)

  • @Glinkaism1 Go to 1 revohsuP for the movie "Pushover". Fred plays a single guy in that film, too. Yet, there again, we see his wedding band. It's a great film noir. So enjoy it for more than just a glimpse at an editing crew's gaffe.

  • body heat didnt come close, double indemnity is the best!

  • @athow100 Totally agree with you - the crackling. wise-cracking script is pure Chandler and elevates this fairly run-of-the-mill thriller into an absolute classic.

  • Thank you. I'm writing a paper in school on this movie. This is just what i needed. :)

  • thank u 4 posting,!!,i love to paint scenes from classic films,my fav is when they talk in the grocery store,i had to paint barbara stanwycks eyes with her (translucently), opaque dark sunglasses on,it was a great challenge, cheers all,!!

  • With the train going that slow (Walter easily jumped off without getting hurt) it would take almost forever for the train to get all the way out to the Frisco area.

  • Thank you. Excellent film!

  • Thank you. Excellent film!

  • THANK YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I've been waiting for this film to be uploaded for a very long time. I've watched it nearly 20 times in my life and I think I could watch it still 20 times more. Billy Wilder was one of top film directors of all times and geographies. I love all his work.

  • thank you so very much - all in one lovely piece! someone else only has 11 parts and is missing final few parts - this is EXCELLENT!

  • Love this movie! Thank you for posting it all in one piece!

  • @313pookie313 Glad to hear that you enjoyed it. I love it too! I'm a film-noir enthusiast and this is my favorite noir.

  • @MrElephantMemory God. All these old classics you put on. I will always be looking for you. Take care.
