I just turned 32 recently. This is new music to me. It gets a little difficult when searching for new musis nowadays, so this suits me fine. If my grandpops was still living in the world today he would've put me on to this but I probably would've just been like whatever. Very ironic. I guess i'm finding this music for a reason... peace & blessings for posting this song. Me and my grandfather thank you very much. 1love @BeyondBodyAndSoul. Stay posting ok.
@DSScorpion13 you really said alot there. I can relate, as I am sure many others can as well. I have always loved and appreciated great music and it is heart-wrenching to not have the coolest cats here to introduce it properly. I guess that why folks like us are so important. We can help to keep America's "pure" heritage alive by sharing our passions with the next generation. Great song!.
@DSScorpion13 I USED TO THINK THAT YOU HAD TO GROW UP IN THIS ERA TO APPRECIATE THE MUSIC. BUT ME AT 40 I DID. MY POPS ALWAYS PLAYED THIS TYPE OF MUSIC AND I GREW UP TO APPRECIATE IT. BUT NOW I KNOW (BECAUSE OF YOU (DSSCORPION) THAT THE YOUNGER GENERATION CAN APPRETIATE IT! ROCK ON LIL BRO!
Wow. This song is deep and profound, and still to this day holds truth. I have the version by Syreeta and Stevie... Never knew Gary Bartz covered it. I also have the song Common sampled.
Andy Bey is singing on this track. It was Andy Bey with Horace Silver on "I've Had a Little Talk" and he also lent his vocals to Bartz's "Celestial Blues".
The link here is that the song was written by Stevie, sung by Syreeta and Gary Bartz had worked with both of them - including Syreeta's lead vocal on 'Music is my Sanctary'.
From Gary Bartz' CD/album "JuJu Street Songs". For those who may not know, this song was written by Stevie Wonder -- music & lyrics... BTW, that's Andy Bey on vocals.
I was wondering where Common got the inspiration of 'Black Maybe' off his latest album, 'Finding Forever'. I'm amazed at how much music young ppl think is original but it has sampled and borrowed elements from prior decades.
Yes I've learned that lesson a long time ago. As original as it sounds, it's recycled, not that it's a bad thing but it's hard to completely new. Luther Vandross has remade plenty of songs, some of them are soft rock songs, but they were beautiful nevertheless, both versions.
Vintage! This is the rendition I was looking for with Andy Bey regarding Nina Simone's version. I actually think in the key of this song, they could be interchanged.
HIS VOICE GOTTA A FUNKY ERIE QUALITY 2 IT ........BUT IT WORKS ..... THANKS 4 DOWNLOADING IT
