Why do they stop so fast like that if they don't need to ? Doesn't that wear down the breaks unneccesarily?

@AVincent2 Those brakes on those cars really do sound that bad no matter how bad they stop, I imagine it might wear them down a little more, but not too badly. Of course overtime it would add up.
