  • Holy shit! Your power snatch is ridiculously explosive. Keep it up bro. How much you hittin now?

  • @trr12191 Thanks a lot! Just power snatched 210 lbs last week actually, in my trainers. No lifting shoes yet. I'll put the video up soon!

  • Yeah those two lifts aren't even close to your maxes. Power hang clean and power hang snatch? Don't think so. Sure there's a huge technique issue, but hey, work on it = more weight.

  • @ajwazhere I agree, and to some degree more weight = more explosiveness and better triple jumping.

  • @samyrlaine Agreed; sick bounds by the way. I'm a javelin thrower, however we incorporate bounds into our training and yours put mine to shame.

  • @ajwazhere Haha I appreciate that. They serve different purposes for each of us so I'd hope that my bounds would be at least a little bit better right?

  • @BustersTexas Not sure what my vert is, I haven't tested in at least 4 or 5 years but perhaps I try to this fall! Still, hang cleans will certainly help your vert.

  • Great work samyr, looking forward to watching some of your other videos.

  • Surely normal power cleans/snatches pulled from the floor, and racked with the feet in narrowish stance would be far more effective.

  • @thesku11s You're definitely right about me not getting the most out of my power lifts since my max there is so close to my hang max. I think some form changes I've made this year should help my power lift maxes though. That said, the hang lifts for clean and snatch are less for power and more for pure explosiveness which is why we add them in around the same time we switch our squats to quarter squats. The deeper we go in the season the more important explosiveness comes than power.

  • You clearly have more athleticism in your pinky than I do in my entire body. But tell me, what is the point of doing barbell quick lifts in this manner, if you are trying to work on power and strength for your track events?

Your lateral split on your "power cleans" and "power snatches" is clearly equivalent to a full squat. The fact you can lift so close to your max , just from the hang shows you arent really even taxing your pulling ability (hip muscle etc).

  • What is your weight?

  • @jptira About 83 kg.

  • @samyrlaine very strong!!!

  • @jptira Not yet; I'm getting there though.

  • I love the videos they help a lot,

1st question, are power clean and snatches the beast lifts for triple jump and long and high jump or are there any other good ones that i can tie in with snatch and clean.

2nd question what should i be thinking about would jumping, should i just try to jump out or up or try to be explosive as possible.

3rd thing is GOOD LUCK AT BRUSSELS i'll be cheering for you.

  • @ezoen My pleasure; glad someone can get some use from 'em.

1 - I like cleans + snatches 'cause they allow you 2 work on the explosiveness that is necessary for the TJ and also get some general strength work in. It's best to mix in both power + hang lifts tho as they work different things.

2 - Try 2 jump out + maintain ur speed btwn phases by being quick on the ground. The goal is to cover as much distance as possible and as long as you're running fast enuff u'll go "up" without trying much.

  • what is your max squat?

  • @Skates2much Good question, but I haven't full squatted in almost two years lol. Half squat is 600 and change though.

  • @samyrlaine okay. i was just wondering because I triple jump in college and was told by my coach that I have great potential as a jumper but lack plenty of strength especially in my lower back. at 6'2" and 170lbs I only squat a little over 300. he is correct in saying i lack strength because i always seem to buckle during my second phase. how much should i probably be squatting in order to maintain my form during my second phase and NOT buckle? at ur 185 and squatting 600 i see it makes a diff.

  • @Skates2much Good question re: how much should you be squatting to avoid buckling. My guess is that it's more a matter of the positions you hit and how quick you are on the ground. That said, the stronger you are the better of course.

  • what do you think , the ideal ratio of hop, step and jump should be?how much was your hop, step, jump when you triple jumped 17.39. you are most helpful to all athletes.keep it up.

  • @anjjurani82 I never really think about ratios when I'm jumping but in general I would aim for your 3rd phase to be the longest. Your 1st phase will be second longest, and the step phase will likely be the shortest. Hope this helps and thanks for the encouragement!

  • @samyrlaine .thanks.it is very helpful for me.you are so nice.

  • wow.. i didn't know you were starting this training journal. SUBSCRIBED

  • @Skates2much Thanks a lot, I appreciate it. I'll be sure to keep it up to date for coming seasons!

  • you are a great athlete.

  • @anjjurani82 I really appreciate that! I'm always trying to be greatER though!

  • Nice training

  • @ezoen Thanks; it'll def. get nicer between now and London. I'll be sure to keep updating along the way.
