  • i didn't know charlie from lost could play the bass

  • @nicoypapi Duh that's because he's Shaggy from Scooby Doo!

  • what strings are you using?

  • P basses sound much better with flat wound strings.

  • The Precision Bass has a limited range of available sounds: Only the good ones.

  • for playing rock or heavy metal which is better (precision or jazz) for those styles and why?

  • @elblack25 Precisions are more widely used by rock guys, but the Jazz is definitely a more versatile instrument.

  • @elblack25 if youl be playing fast punchy lines id go with a jazz, if ur holding down the groove get a p bass

  • and how much is this bass?

  • @TheMaidenFan96 $1170.00 with case and free shipping at nstuffmusic with coupon code.

  • Though the jazz bass is better suited for slap, the precision bass does get a nice woody slap tone :)

  • i play in a power pop female fronted band, i was wondering what would sound better for our gene...p or j? its music in the vain of kelly clarkson/no doubt/top 40 pop....p or j?

  • @BreakupBass I would recommend the Jazz Bass.

  • Have you seen these in a maple finger board? How glossy or shiny are they?

  • @TaySunset jUST THE FINGERBOARD HAS A GLOSS. The back of the neck is still a satin finish. The gloss is not to shiny. $1170.00 with hard case and free shipping at nstuffmusic.

  • for rock music should i get this american standard p bass or the american standard jazz bass?

  • @findthecomputerroom6........... Both will do the trick well, but the P-bass seems to be coined more of the rock bass.

  • @NstuffMusic ok thanks

  • @findthecomputerroom6 you can get more sounds out of a jazz bass but only close to the P bass sound.

  • i ordered a fender american special p-bass. The reviews say it's excellent and i'm really looking forward to it. You know much about it or ever played one?

  • @Alienpubes ive played one, but i dont own one. the special has a slimmer neck profile than the usual p bass, a vintage bridge that is not string thru, and greasebucket tone controls. the neck has a very nice satin finish on the back. you are extremely lucky if you own one. i wish i had money to buy an american p bass, but since im too young to have a job im stuck playin a 200 dollar indonesian piece of crap

  • @MRCOOL2345e oh believe me. She'll treat you right. ;) lol But yeah pretty expensive. You should buy A Squier 70's Vintage Modified Jazz bass. For the price, which is like $299.99 it's an excellent.

  • @Alienpubes hey man thanks but i have about 700 dillars so no squier for me =^) i am building a replaca 51 p bass out of warmoth parts. it will probably be bought around christmas and delivered sometime in january unless my parents let me buy it before that. i think its gonna be awesome

  • Can you do a pick demo sometimes?

  • i dont know. should i git the american standard or the american special

  • I usually play a P, but thought I needed more versatility, so went shopping for a Jazz or Music Man Stingray, and ended up buying a second P. Weird.

  • @tanukibrahma thats the beauty of it. buy 1 and u cant buy anything else. just do some tone adjustments and your all set

  • Nice bass. I've really fallen in love with the P bass tone. There is a 1990 P bass at a music store near my house for $600. Comes with the tweed case. Does anyone know about 90's P Basses? Or have P basses just been left unchanged over the years?

  • @metalfunkjazz

is it american or mexican made?

600 is low for an old american p bass, don't know about the mexican made ones though...

  • @ejdbk ya. for mexicans that is outrageous. the average price of a 1990 mexi should be around 250-350 depending on condition

  • Charlie From lost play bass

  • Whats the general difference between the American Standard p bass and the normal Standard p bass?

  • @metaltera86 The Am. Std. basses are made in, well, America, and the Standards are made in Mexico. Generally, American P basses are of higher quality that Mexican ones and, as a result, cost more.

  • @metaltera86 The American Standard P-Bass is made in the USA were the Normal Standard P-Bass is made in Mexico. The American made P-Bass has better craftsmanship. They roll the edges of the fretboard, better hardware, better electronics and comes with a hard case.

  • @NstuffMusic

should an american p bass have fret buzz?or should it be noiseless on every fret?

because my brother have a MIA strat, and the fret buzz is ridiculous

  • @ejdbk It should not buzz unless your playing it really hard. If it is buzzing it probably just needs a set up.

  • @NstuffMusic

i think that this is the point of american made fenders, you should play them as hard as you like and they should sound fine, the action may be behind the buzz but still....,thats why i shell out the extra cash, for a perfect instrument

  • @ejdbk That is so true!!!!!!!

  • @byjuu246

    thank you,thank you :)

  • Apart from the stand-up bass, what's the best for rockabilly?

  • @MrItsabeautifulday Either a P-Bass or Jazz with flatwound strings.

  • @NstuffMusic True but if you want the best Fender you're better off buying G&L! :P

  • @NstuffMusic Almost all basses come with their strings flatwound though, right?

  • @cursedswordsman Just about all basses come with roundwound strings.

  • @cursedswordsman I think most come with roundwounds, and flatwounds are more rare.

  • @Parley454 i use flatwounds

  • @MrItsabeautifulday I recommend you to play near the neck with your right hand. That should help a lot. And you can use a fabric in your left hand that will mute the strings to make them sound even more oldscoolish

  • @MrItsabeautifulday

A fretless jazz bass with flatwound strings is about as close to a standup as you'll get.

  • @MrItsabeautifulday if you could find a fretless epiphone el capitan or an old violin bass on ebay, not the hofner sized ones, but one of the bigger possibly japanese 70's/ 60's ones.

  • I have fretless epihone el capitan and I put flatwounds on it, it sounds like an upright, it's great for rockabilly and jazz.

  • Just wondering but which do you recommend. The Fender Reissue 1957 P-Bass or the American Standard? I'm looking for a fat thud-like bass tone.

  • @redhook4 I personaly like the American standard it's fuller.

  • @NstuffMusic

hey, whats the average price for the american standard(in US dollars)

also,is the black color with maple available(roger waters) in the american standard series?

  • @ejdbk The Fender American Standard Strat in Black with Maple neck and fingerboard is $909.99 with hard shell case at nstuffmusic with coupon code.

  • @NstuffMusic

    why is it cheaper?

i checked a bunch of sites and they sold fender p bass for 1200,does the price depend on the dealer?

  • @ejdbk I'm sorry I priced it as a guitar not a bass. The American Standard P-Bass is $1170.00 with case at nstuffmusic with coupon code. Sorry about that.

  • @NstuffMusic

    oh,i am sorry,i wasn't really all that clear,thanks anyway

  • My Blizzard Pearl, American standard 'P' bass looks and sounds f**king fantastic.

God bless Leo Fender..... Surely THE Ace of Bass.

  • What are the differences between american std p bass an american special p bass/???

  • @presvis20 The American Standard has better craftsmanship they round the edges of the fretboard it has better hardware and pickups and also includes a hardshell case. Instock at nstuffmusic

  • what strings are you using/??? fender strings that came with the bass?? thanks

  • @santiush They are the stock Fender strings.

  • where do I get a review of this??????

  • What's the diference between the American standard p-bass and just a standard p-bass? why does the Amercan standard seem to cost double the price?

  • @shoeh0rn standard is made in mexico. american standard is made in california

  • @shoeh0rn The American P-Bass has alot more craftsmanship in it. They roll the edgers of the fretboard it has better hardware, better pickups and comes with a hardshell case.

  • @shoeh0rn its because the American P-bass is made in AMERICA, while the standard is made in Mexico. its not that hard to figure out....

  • @cbassizle Actually mexican basses are made in AMERICA

  • @JoOzLeOs yes I forgot. They obviously call the Mexican basses "Mexican", because they are made in America. Your logic in thinking is flawless. How could I be so wrong? Go to Fenders website shithead, and educate yourself.

  • @cbassizle Well, I meant that the mexican basses are made in the american continent, like a Höfner bass is a european bass. Get it? don't get mad. Peace :)

  • @JoOzLeOs *An european bass

  • Super very very hot sound then my jazz fender usa bass

  • How do you think, adding additional Jazz pickup at the bridge position and replacing both pups with SD quarterpounds in American standard p-bass with maple neck wouldn't make it sound too bright and would fit in old-school thrash metal?

  • @Peccator93

    define old school thrash metal

  • @illfortune921 early anthrax and slayer, atrophy, few crossover bands like DRI and Nuclear Assault

  • @Peccator93

    id add it

  • which is better, Fender American Standard Jazz Bass or the Fender American Standard P-Bass?

  • @MegaSolo25 Depends on what sound you like. The Jazz has a Punchy sound and a slimmer neck. The P-Bass has a fatter neck and has more bass and treble response with the mid's cut.

  • @NstuffMusic ok thxs

  • @MegaSolo25 I think the P-Bass... the USA Jazz has little difference to the Mexican ones. The Mexican P-basses, on the other hand sound like shit compared to the beast in this vid!! (From the owner of a Mexican Jazz, and future owner of a USA P BASS)

  • This bass sounds like heaven!

  • is it okay to put fender p bass original pickup on squier p bass?

  • @TheRawrdance Sure that will be a improvement. They might not be a direct fit.

  • @NstuffMusic what do you mean by direct fit?

  • @NstuffMusic That means the new pickup up might not fit in the hole that was routed for the pickup that came with the bass.

  • @TheRawrdance yea man it'll fit just fine.

  • Bonjour. Il y a le plastique sur les micros ! aha ha ha !

    Sinon, j'aime bien vos tests.

    salut !

  • i have a quick question. i have the american standard jazz bass and i was wondering if there would be any point in getting this bass next. is there any massive difference between this and the jazz bass.

  • @thecrashinghighways The Fender P-Bass has a fatter neck and a split coil pickup which gives you a fatter sound as well it has a lot of low end and alot of punch with the mids cut slightly great for rock.

  • a Seymour Duncan would be a great replacement

  • what pickups are in your opinion an ideal replacement for a 78 American Standard P Bass? mine lost thier punch on the A and D string. PNS = great store... im from White Oak.. you guys got me a kick ass replacement case for my Ric 4001 a few years back.

  • Is the standard one almost as good as the american one?

  • @ox092 The American one has better electronics's, better hardware, better craftsmanship and it comes with a hardshell case.

  • i want this bass badly + an svt cl plox, give me endless moneys

  • Killer slap tone on this P-bas. :)
