first I think the director is insane for making you sing that aria in that tempo. second that is for a Bass you sound like a baritone to me (yes, baritones can sing it but not enough meat in your voice for it) last comment is, your voice is not positioned in the Masque it's all in the throat, bring it forward, think of it like sun light focused through a magnifying glass in the masque. just practice practice practice it's all
Gentle geebaritone, I regret it,but Mustafa is a role for a Bass-baritone,not for Bass only.I am a true Bass-baritone.A Bass is not able to make the acute ends of the this Opera.About the mask,as do you do to say that the sound is in throat and doesn't have volume?There were no microphones on the stage,the recording has been taken to over 50 ms.
You can feel only live the mask,not so.The voice maintains the same color among grave and acute therefore the formulation is correct.About the time,Rossini is vivacious and bright.I think that once slower is boring.I can accept criticisms on the interpretation,but the technical matters are as in Italy we say "only words in the wind".Cordially.
