@Sotamurzu Yeah, don't get me wrong this guy is great at what he does and these excercises are awsome, but I think to many YOUNG drummers think that you just need to go fast, and that makes you good.  There is SO much more to music and drums then playing 200 bpm or 300 or 500!!!! I say if you are just learning drums that you need to find your "feel" and your "grove" and then work towards the super " bpm's. Otherwise you may never get it, and may never fit in with other musicians.

@jordanjcm Kids that want to play metal will do this to fit in with metal musicians. I have heard Derek play many different genres, it's not like this is all he does. There is no groove in metal, its precise, so if you only want to play metal, you don't need groove.

@jordanjcm well not always, its not just speed, if u want to half ass and just do it for fun yeah but drummers like Shannon Lucas, Derrek, and George Kollias they are very well rounded. so are most Death metal drummers, they might not always show it in the song because they do what is needed for the music, and death metal, needs the fast back bone, that blasts, and fast double kick gives it.

i can play cleanly at 170 16ths for my max controlled tempo, but lately tempos below that i've for some reason developed some trouble and will get stuck up..but still able to competely maintain control.
