  • Historically, emperors would sometimes send a messenger out to another empire to tell them that "this army has been defeated" , even if it wasn't true just so they could control their thoughts and have a sense of power of everyone else. The Romans used statues of their leaders as a symbol of control and power, now we just have FOX News and CNN to replace that. Mind control becomes much easier than it was in ancient times and free thinking becomes less common.

  • what was really trippy was when i read the book my english teacher told me he went to my same high school! so cool!

  • I'm with Colby. I was in the US army, 11B, in the Republic of Korea. The pentagon doesn't want info out there because the Iraq war was UNjustified from jump. If more people knew what was going on in the military, they'd be appalled at what's happening. From the brainwashing to the attitudes toward foreign civilians... American citizens would be pissed if they knew. I wasn't even in Iraq, I was only in Korea, and some of what went on in there was f___ed.

  • colby seems like a good guy, the war is fucking insane and obsolete tho.

  • I bought this book a while ago but started reading just a few days ago. and now I just can't help going on. awesome!

  • Read this book for school... SO GLAD I DID!

  • just got done reading this, always considered joining the army/marines and this book has helped me fine tune my decesion, thanks alot colby and god bless

  • just got done reading this, always considered joining the army/marines and this book has helped me fine tune my decesion, thanks alot colby and god bless

  • Sounds like a stoner just like in the book.

  • Great read, very humerous and a Slayer fan to boot pretty cool!!

  • AWESOME book....my boyfriend is over there right now and it really helped me understand his situation better esp through this rough election. Thank you for serving our country....God Bless you for spitting the truth!

  • One of the best books about combat at the coal face.

    Great job!

  • Does anyone know his email address to actually get in contact with him direct? If so please send me a message. Thank you.

  • This kid hit a home run with My War. I have given this book to friends and more recently to my own sons. It's a must read for teenage Americans, in my opinion.

  • Great fuckin' book. You'll forget you're reading a novel. His book is the shit, none of the media filtering or any of that nonsense. Feels kinda weird seeing him haha, I always had this mental image of him as a 90's skater white boy with a big ass mullet.

Nothin' else to say but good job. This book's a great read!

  • Great book...read it!

  • FTW

  • One of the best books I ever read. So thats what he looks like.

  • Can tell the reported hasnt read a page of it and is just trying to make it political, what a dick. Great book for anyone thinking about the army or iraq.

  • *blink*....*blink* nervous? GREAT book though

  • he is always like that, i beleive he was diagnosed with ptsd.

  • yeah blink blink! what the fuck do you want from him?? Should he smile and talk than everybody would say that he is not serious! And if you were in Irak I think you would be as nervous as he looks like!!

  • good book, he was nervous as fuck tho

  • i love the book

i love his sense of writing

  • Keep ot up bro.

  • Great book. But it wasn't the "horror-show" that I expected. It seems that he came out of the war with most of his mental health intact.

  • I absolutely love him!!!! His book is great. It gave me great insight on what my boyfriend goes through when he is over in the middle east. Abosolutely great peice of work.

  • love this guy

  • what the hell does ftw mean

  • for the win

    try urbandictionary

  • i'm glad i'm not the only person who has taken an interest in colby and his book. when i first read it i thought it was an amazing discovery for me then i came to found out everyone all over the world already knew who he was. i just wish i knew some of these people so i could talk to them about this book.

but if you liked this book you should also check out the book entitled "Blood Makes the Grass Grow Green" by Johnny Rico (and yes, that's his name.)

  • If you go on his blog now the latest entry is an article for a magazine that says he was called up and is going back... can't wait for some more stuff by him. A must read.

  • Just finished this book 15 minutes ago. Absoulutly loved it, defianately my favorite book now. So incrrediblely interesting.

  • I picked this book up yesterday and couldn't put it down. I was up at 3:30 AM this morning and couldn't sleep and I was able to finish it before work. Excellent read. I also recommend David Bellavia's 'House to House', which is more of a combat narrative, whereas Buzzell's book is more of a narrative about what happens during down time. It's interesting to see both perspectives.

  • I just finished Buzzell's book just now. I finished Bellavia's book a couple of days before too.

Both are great reading and great insight into what our guys go through. I couldn't put them down, reading until late into the night.

  • I just finished the book last night, its a masterpiece, probably the best book i have ever read in my life, 5 stars for Colby.

  • i no man it does kick ass

  • i read this book like 3 times i got it two years

ago if you like this trythe last true story ill ever tell by john crawford and spare parts i cant rember who wrote spare parts sorry!

  • I am almost finished with his book "My War" and I would recommend it for anyone who wants to know what soldiers face in the desert. Awesome book!

  • I read it cover to cover and then started again to make sure i didnt miss anything.. Wicked book . I would really like to sit down and have a beer with this dude

  • Yeap, it´s very good book. It´s hard to put it away and go to sleep. It would be nice to meet Colby! GO STRYKERS

  • i agree im 14 and i love this book more than most video games

  • Glad he is getting something out of his time in Iraq, he deserves it as do all of the other soldiers that have gone over there do.

Great book so far. Im signed up for army infantry to go to basic July 2nd and i expect Ill probably go over, dont want to, but its what your country asks us to do however much we disagree with it. Its good some people are getting credit for what is happening.

  • I agree with everyone. This book is amazing. I cant seam to put it down. I got it maybe 2 days ago and am already half way done! Whoo. Plus Im going into the army so reading it from a soldiers point helps

  • My War is great. Read it twice.

And he's probably blinking because he's nervous as shit. Being on CNN in front of millions isn't exactly a lax situation.

  • why does he blink so much?, could he be potentially telling a LIE!

  • thats true....he only blinks really fast when he's talking! lol

  • Maybe he is/was nervous. I blink alot when I am nervous.

  • I dig the fact that he was blogging early on. You know damn right well that had the US Government know what he was doing, they would have arrested him and done something in a disiplinary action. I think that doing anything that would compromise a soldiers life should be kept on the down low but these guys and girls need to vent or they would go crazy.

  • I went to high school with Colby. His 'zine had the entire school entranced during the years 1993 and 1995. It was compelling, gritty, and raw. His is a voice that is utterly irresitable, and it's not altogether unsurprising that he has captured the attention of thousands. Good for him.

  • I know I mean I am like 14 One of the only BOOKS EVER that I was more intrested in than ANY video Game!

  • yup, my war is a very good book.

  • Oh shit, I read this book for like 3 days and never had an idea what this kick-ass authot looked like...man, this book is a MUST MUST MUST read man...I'm just a (Filipino)Canadian 16 year old kid and I was hooked to his book like it was just a video game.

  • Yea It's an amazing book! Yea good for all ages.....Im 14 and I love it. I mean it tells the TRUTH not like Fox News Network!

Also anyone know if the Striker has CROWS Weapon System?

  • i read my war 4 times

  • Just finished My War, very good read, good music choices too.

  • Strongly recommend everyone reads "My war", you will not find a more raw and gritty account of war, from a clearly talented and interesting individual.
