The reason why this sounds so good is because Weezer used to have a raw tone when they were younger. The guitars were punchier. Rivers used to play with more force. Now, when you watch him play he barely moves his wrist to strum, let alone his whole arm like he used to. The falsettos Matt provided really fit the best though I really like Scott and am happy with him.

It's a product of getting older but they could still try to get a more raw tone for future albums/performances.

The new stuff isn't bad, they just have a terrible habit of only having the good songs on the Special Editions - 'Life Is What You Make It' and 'King' really deserved proper album places on the Red Album.
