Awesome playing! It is nice to see a classical player that can memorize a piece. Also, Chris Abell makes some of the best flutes and whistles in the world. His work is unbelievable.
Why not just learn to play a baroque flute: real wood sound, no key noise, and a glorious sound to boot but then you would have to learn some very complicated forked fingerings and have to make each note play in tune with your ear and not with a complicated system of machinery doing it for you. Stick to post Boehm composers!
Thanks for your comments Josh, I'm glad you like the video. There is actually a microphone placed above my head which you can't see in the video which seems to exaggerate the key noise quite a bit. It isn't an issue with the flute itself as you'll hear from the other videos I've posted using this instrument. Thanks :)
@nsrAgnew Ah, well that explains it. Lord knows I've been a victim of some super-mic'ed key noise. :) Is the Abell your primary flute? His instruments are really magnificent! (The Mendelssohn Scherzo recording on my channel was made with my Abell, and I just LOVED that flute!) You really do a fantastic job of maximizing the tone color potentials of the wood flute...love all your videos! :)
Very nice sound! by the way I could perfectly listen to the key noise of it. Is that a particular caracteristic of this kind of flute or what?
How long have you been playing flute? Whare are you from?
Congratulations for the interpretation!!!!!!!!!

Is a flute like that much heavier or lighter than a regular flute (one made of silver or nickel or something)? Really beautiful sound by the way :)

It seems to pitch flat in the lower register. Is this true, or is it a trick of the recording?

What a wonderful interpretation! Great sound, too...I've always loved Chris' flutes. The key noise is a bit distracting, though...

@flutejory Thanks, I have known P.gallois use it,too. but his sound of piazzola's cd is not good, I think. probably the wood is too light.
