@hassmik Those teams are not in their conference. O'Connell has several in the top teams in their conference that they see 2 or 3 times every year. Then O'Connell goes outside of their conference to play top teams so yeah, when you play against better talent night in and night out and don't really have a break it makes a difference. For the most part people will distinguish someone doing their thing in the WAC as oppossed to someone killing people in the ACC or the Big East. Sorry.

I hate to tell you but level of competition night in and night out shows what kind of a player you are. If stats didn't matter coaches would have nothing to base their recruiting off of. To be honest I'm not too far off of agree with you. My point is this, I am a coach in the WCAC. We talk to the people who do the rankings. What helped him was not his school it is the level of comp he played against and his numbers were always good.

Marshall always did his thing in the camps, that was how he kept his rankings. I'm just letting you know what one writer for a publication that I know you look at stated. OMG does this dude suck. Shaq looks faster running the fast break than Marshall. It’s easy to throw no look passes in AAU games when no one picks the ball up for 80 feet, but he will be lucky to get the ball all the way down the court without turning it over in the ACC. I don’t know what Roy was thinking getting a slower than molasses PG to run his fast break offense. With PG recruits like this, which is UNC’s most important position, it looks like they will continue to be the suck in the ACC

Guess you plan on relying heavily on those freshmen...but you seem to be forgetting how UNC hasn't had much success when relying on freshmen to score...like Mays, Felton, and McCants when they were freshmen. @rockoqwerty - well 1st of all, I didn't compare Marshall to anyone, especially in the pros. 2nd, Carolina players do get faster because of Roy's emphasis on running. Drew and Strickland will be faster than they were last year, guaranteed. The problem with those two is learning NC's system...some pick it up fast, some don't. Larry had to fill some tough shoes after Lawson in just one season. Strickland was a freshman. BTW, I really hope the Felton and Ty slow comment was your idea of sarcasm.

He will be good even a few more months into the season and will definitely be starting. He's not a Ty Lawson but guys who are THAT good come very few and far between. Dexter is good... he had too much pressure going on trying to learn the PG and SG under UNC's system. UNC will be much improved next year because Marshall is faster then Drew but slower then Strickland. However his b-ball IQ and passing is off the chart. I work with him at O'Connell. I don't think so. Kendall Marshall is what UNC needs, he may be slow, but he's a dominant floor general and it's what UNC lacks. Larry Drew and Dexter Strickland (Biggest Bust evar..) aren't doing it. They rely too much on their speed and just turn the ball over. Kendall Marshall can control a game and find his teammates. If Harrison Barnes, Reggie Bullock and Kendall Marshall all stay past their Sophomore Year. I can see a championship in the near future. We got McAdoo and Hairston in '11 too.

Hey I disagree with you on Strickland......Dexter has done a good job in Carolina. Adjusting from a 2 guard to point is not an easy thing to do. The only thing he needs to do is score

more. He is way better than Drew.

Larry Drew isnt bad.. I mean, he needs to work on his scoring, and he is a Great passer... Just needs a guy that he actually passes to score... Barnes and Bullock will solve that..

@airsoft121ify No he sucks, he can't get the ball to Thompson when he's in position. His driving and shot selection are ugly at best. Not to mention that he can't shoot to begin with. He doesn't have handles either.
