Oh, mozzarella di bufala is a good one for pizza margarita, or if using a dehydrated mozzarella a swirl of olive oil before the firing makes all the difference in the world. Side note: pepperoni is an oily american thing. The real deal is called salami picante(a must have)... I know I sound pretentious right now, but I dont mean to. These are just things I learned in Naples that left me feeling schooled.. You helped me so much last year. I wanted to share the wealth!
@Sykokinesis Yes...depends on the heat. I let the coals burn down a bit to cool off. Otherwise the crust burns before the cheese melts all the way. I would say around 5 to 7 minutes.
The pizza looked great and that is a very interesting and unique way of cooking it by grilling the crust by it self first. BUT It really broke my heart to see and hear how you treated your daughter. Just as you want to be treated with love and respect you must treat those around you with respect, especially your precious family.
@prairiepatch Prairie, thanks for the comment, but what I was engaged in is called SARCASM. We joke around a lot here. My family is very much loved, but thanks for your parenting commentary.
@BBQMyWay I grew up in a very very sarcastic family as well... I loved it.... everyone got to say what they really meant without any hard feelings... not to mention it gave us a closeness... A lot of people just dont get it..... But hey whatever... I would go crazy in the beave's house!!
and yeast? how much? How much sugar and salt? please clear recipie... Good cooking is so much more appreciated when I can be sure I can reproduce your good work :)
I never liked the BBQ sauce and chicken pizza that so many people love, but I did grill a pie last time with chili verde for the sauce (no meat), and a little cream stirred into it. I used Mexican cheeses w/provalone (It's what I had) and topped it with Spanish Chorizo, and egg. Some cilantro and grilled onion at the last minute, it was a huge hit around here! and you're right on with the comments re: grilled crust. To me it's better than oven fired crust.
@BBQMyWay Three people ate it in record time, lol. I wish I had a cam, I'd put a vid up here. Just take the Salsa Verde after you've pureed it and strain it a little, and stir in the sour cream. I did it since my salsa is a little runny, and I wanted it to firm up. It just takes a touch. Then scrambled up the egg and drizzle on the pie last, and grill until you see the egg firmed up (the cheese will be nice and bubbling too) then put on the cilantro and grilled onion, grill to wilt the cilantro.
@bonniethebeagle He could have left out the wise crack but he was just pokin' fun is all Bonnie. Sometimes Man + Grill = Arrogance..... but not here. Good job BBQMyWay!
@BBQMyWay No need to be sorry. To each his own. I actually learned a lot from your video. Never thought to put the dough directly on the grill, or to use a breadmaker for the dough. Good job.
Hey buddy!!! Did you happen to try the recipe i gave you for the pesto cream sauce? It's so good im having a hard time experimenting with different sauces. Also, try using gouda cheese as well, it's unbelievable. Rock on!!!
Just to give you an idea of whats in the pesto cream sauce. Butter, onions mcd, garlic mcd, whipping cream, parmesan cheese ( the good stuff makes a world of difference ) pesto and here's the kicker. Add a tsp or so of chicken base. You wont believe how the flavour pops out. BBQMyWay....You rock!!!
Instead of using bbq sauce, i made a pesto cream sauce with the exact same ingredients and was it ever awesome. I'll never order a pizza again. Thanks for the great video.
I tried this for supper this evening with the onion and some feta, mozarella, bacon, avo and a garlic tomato base. 8 minutes for the first grill and then 10 minutes with the toppings. I don't have hickory but black wattle bark worked like a charm to give that second grill that smoky flavour.
Thanks for the recipe dude - the nicest pizza I have ever tasted and I made it all myself!
Great recipe mate! The dough is brilliant but the key is not to overload the ingredients. I was going to try it for Australia Day tomorrow but I need to scale down.
NICE!! I made it last weekend with some leftover beer can chicken. I did make one change instead of the bbq sauce I went with a light pesto. I figured we had bbq the night before so wanted a little different taste. It turned out great, still had the nutty taste from crust, and the smoky tasted from the chicken but the pesto gave it that Italian garlicky basil touch!!
Another alternative to the tomato / bbq sauce base is an apricot chutney or similar. I usually can't stand chutneys, but it works well with a variety of toppings.
COOL :) ,,,gonna make for us. I had the idea for making pizza dough from bread maker but wow this is really cool I didn't think you can work the grill this way.
Me either, I love Pizza and don't have a kitchen yet so my trusty ol' weber grill is all I have to cook with. Im looking forward to trying this when I can get my hands on some dough. Great Vid :)
I will try this. I am going to try your recipe for the dough this weekend. I have spent hours upon hours working on my dough, but I'll give yours a shot. I really like how it bubbles up on the grill (looks great).
Ingegnoso.....ma non ha la più pallida idea di cosa sia una pizza.....:-).....comunque.....bravo giovanin!
