  • I could use gimp instead of photoshop right?

  • @DynaDuctINC Sure, this is just top show you how its done with photoshop. but if you have another program that can do the same thing.. then yes of course you can.

  • OMG, you sound like Doug Walker, the Nostalgia Critic @_@

  • Cool. You need screen capture software though, even if filmed like this is more immediate or something. ;-)

  • @SteveDurnin you dont need anything but what i used here. if you dont have that then its time to upgrade.

  • Nice job! Looked cool at the end!! :)

  • @robb21572 thanks!!!

  • Lol you can get a similar effect if you crop the top a bit & then use the 'picture in picture' effect from iMovie.

  • @Cam95G this was for those who had at least a decent editor. but thanks for the info.

  • @bedlum47o7 Just a suggestion, put the matte painting on top, then use the layer mask & blend the two together, works pretty well that way.

  • For PC The software would be as follows:

    *Adobe After Effects

    *Adobe Photoshop

    *Sony Vegas Video Pro 10

    and others

    good luck/

  • thanks bro... helped tons

  • Hay sorry to ask but is there similar programs for the PC to do this ????

if so what are they plz.

this was great i would love to give it a go

  • @Darrenastark yes one is called "sony vegas" look it up.

  • Hey i have question. How can i get these particle effects using final cut express? And is it possible to do these things with Photoshop elements? I'm a new user with final cut express 4... I been trying hard to get these special effects using final cut express 4, but can't find them... What is the software for the particle effects and how can i get it?

    thanx!

  • i thought the audio was fine

  • omg stop screaming <.>

  • @McMike1312 OMG you have no idea what screaming is. turn down your volume , im just talking. BESIDES i have already made the video I cant UNDO it. but please know the difference from from screaming to very clear audio. that or stop watching bad you tube videos that have crap sound.

  • @bedlum47o7 why the hell so u still think we're watching videos

    with bad quality ?

Its like ur Mirco is 20 Meter away and u think u have to speak louder.

Im not saying that the video is bad but the audio could be better.

Do you want to hear clear audio?

    Here is a Link:

    ...w ww . youtube (.) com../user/freddiew2

THAT is high quality audio !

  • @McMike1312 the video was not about sound. so i was not about to drag out all my super good stuff. the mic i used worked and you can understand what im saying. my comment was the fact you think im screaming...im not. i know what super good sound is...I do it quite a bit for theaters in town. thanks for the comment.

  • @bedlum47o7 Its not screaming at all. If anything, you sound enthusiastic. Thanks for the upload.

  • @Ballem220 finally someone who knows the difference of someone screaming and not.

  • it spunds like you're screaming in the whole video. whats that about?

  • @telmacblack ..if you cant tell screaming from talking then i dont know what to say.. ,perhaps your so used to other junky amateur you-tube videos that you have never heard crystal clear sound before. trust me im talking not screaming...just on a hunch.. perhaps just turn down your volume and will solve the problem. thanks for posting..

  • @telmacblack at least we can hear and understand him.

  • As a photographic composite of two separate images, it's very impressive, but this hardly qualifies as a 'painting', for which--I think at least--you need paints and brushes....

  • @eddiefuzz Its the same concept. real matte painting is a lost art just like drawing cartoons is. however they still call them matte paintings as a term. Its still taking something to put in front of the image to create a illusion. Hollywood still uses this term today and yet no one truly paints on glass anymore. also in most jobs I do have to use photoshop to do touchups around and alike to images. so if you want to be technical I am painting with digital paint onto a image to make it better

  • I think you should've used the snow blizzard emitter as well and the smoke take up more of the screen and bring down its opacity too but still its very nice for a quick job

  • @2byehi well thats what it was, a fast job to give the IDEA. I was not about to spend a ton of time with extras. It was give the idea ONLY.

  • Most matte paints are digital, have been for years. No more glass.

  • not bad!!!

  • Very Nice..Thanks

  • i have another one on my channel that i tell that makes it even easier. you may want to cheak it out.

  • Thx man your the best

  • Bravo !!!,I been looking for something like this for ages.

  • Nicely done.

Interesting to see compositing without green-screen work.

  • well not everyone can do it right or good so i came up with a few ways that you did'[nt have to use green screen. i have a new one i just did that is even easier then this. go to my channel and its the first video i just loaded up.

  • im already done with school. so im done and am now doing this for real. its fun, hard work but fun

  • you have a good skill its just the picture you have has numbers on the side. I guess u knew that already well it looks good i just odnt have final cut pro or shake.

  • This guy is great! It is really refreshing to see someone show something informative as opposed to the tons of people who show extremely sped up clips with little to no information. I do digital art but no compositing but I found this vid a lot of fun to watch. Wish EVERYONE was this good with their tutorials.

  • THANKS!!! it means a lot when someone likes or gets something out of what I do. I plan on doing some more and with that kind of comment i will. again thanks!!!

  • You're welcome! I do design for a living (no animation or film work) but love all things digital when it comes to art ( as well as traditional of course) and I find this kind of stuff fascinating! I do a lot of 3D renders of products for a client and the occasional illustration but most of what I do is design. I'd LOVE to do this kind of stuff!I have a friend who is a amateur film maker and he has FC so i'll point him in your direction. Keep up the great work and thanks for the inspiration!

  • I saw your work and you are a great drawer. I cant draw like that but im better with a camera and doing effects. i guess we just use photoshop differently. thats ok i think. you keep up your great work as well.

  • raitings disabled, pity, I would have given 5 stars

  • OH GOD i did not know i did that.. ill have it come back.. thanks for telling me.

  • there i fixed it.. you can rate it now :) !!!!

  • you sound like steve carrell from the office

  • really..LOL wow thats a first. LOL thanks

  • Cool

But I don't have the money to buy Final Cut Pro...

I'll just stick with iMovie '08 when I get my Mac laptop or maybe even upgrade to FCE 4 later this year...

    Good tutorial though, very brief...

  • Yes you could get FC express as it is much cheeper. it would be way better then imovie. imovie is just for home movies and that that need small edits and or little effects. thanks for the comment

  • Yay! i am totally going to use this! I use all 3 of those programs!!! kinda better than just straight up chroma keying!

  • Yes im many case's this is much easier and faster.

  • Really nice tutorial! Another cool effects could be using After Effects or your video compositing app and just make a little bit of shake to the final result, så it makes it more realistic :P

But really god tutorial, though it didn't help alot cus I'm using Windows (sigh) :P

Really cool "workshop" you got there too (you can point on the screen and stuff)

But another time try to lower your voice- you don't have to yell :D

    Well, gj!

  • i guess i could have turned down my sound but i wanted it to be clear. adjust your speaker level :P thanks for the comment, i wish i had windows but the studio's dont use windows. its mostly all avid OR finalcut.

  • Great! :) looked realistic, helped me alot =)

  • thanks Im do glad it did. any help please ask.

  • U sound like Bill Gates :P

  • thats a first...thanks i guess

  • lol :P
