I just hope Steven Moffat knew how this series was going to end, and then worked his way backwards so he could write the storyline of the first half. If it just becomes hopelessly trying to squeeze things in so they make sense this year I'll be disappointed

@thegeekanoid Actually it's Julie Gardner and some other women (can't remember her name) who are mostly responsible for the return, the real people are the BBC execs who knew there was still value in the show. JG and friend in turn the asked RTD2 if he would be up for being the lead writer. (thats what I remember from Series 1's Doctor Who confidential)

@aislinnc1 I'd say the good man she killed was Rory. She cant have killed the Doctor because since their lives are back-to-front, she wouldnt know who she killed if it was him ("Spoilers!"). Also if she was the one in the spacesuit at the beach, she couldnt have been at the picnic (same reason she couldnt join the fight until baby Melody was taken). Thirdly, ep 10, A _Good Man_ Goes To War, was Rory's first war. The Doctor has gone to war plenty of times. The ep was all about Rory's fight.

@Deanchester16 I have the same thoughts too. After the episode I can't help thinking "oh no, Moffat's going to kill Rory again isn't he".

The hints are pointing that way:

1. River's description that the person she killed is "the best man I've ever known"

2. River's reaction when she saw Rory earlier on "A Good Man Goes To War"

Of course in the end it depends on who Steven Moffatt choose to kill XP. (It could be Madame Kovarian who takes care of River since she's a baby)

@aislinnc1 Moffat has been planing this since Silence in the library and there have been hints in the episodes from series 5 and 4.

But he's done it not to give away what's going to happen next.

Moffat has also hinted the silence be returning in the 2012 series.

@aislinnc1 I am almost certain that that is what is going on. Whether or not they want us to think that its almost certain that it's what were supposed to assume. If its ture or not I'm not sure, its possible they might have expected us to think that and then they will actually switch it up. I'm not sure, just a theory really.

@TheMasterIsAWhovian I agree, I was getting a bit bored of RTD's trainspotting method (oh the words "Vote Saxon" have popped up a lot in the background, I wonder if that has something to do with finale. Much preffering Moffat's on going threat approach (The Doctor knew throughout about the cracks and was trying to work it from the start of Series 5, same with the "silence will fall" but we still haven't worked that out fully)

Also I'm pretty sure he will be ressurected somehow (after all the Master died 3 times and he came back (Lack of regens, extermination by Daleks, sucked into the eye of harmony (AKA a Black Hole))

@jessicacute321 The phrase silence will fall means that all sound will be drowned out and nothing can be heard (the state of silence). All other sound is replaced by silence so henceforth the silence will be all thats present (it suggests they -the creatures- will be come drastically powerful/perform a surprise attack). It would be a pretty rubbish threat if they threaten that they themselves are going to loose. :L

See, all I can think of is the fact that River Song debuted in the episode "Silence in the Library". The Silence. I wouldn't put it past Moffat to have been building up this story arc for four years. Just saying.

@SydWarden i think u r right as the next episode is called forest of the dead and when the tardis is made into a person in doctors wife there is a tv playing scenes from the forest episode and toardis says only water in forest is river possibly making a connection to the earlier episodes

This is why I love Moffat's Who, it's not even half the series and already the series arch has enough plot to make up a story on its own. Try and do that with the Bad Wolf, Master or Rose series arches from RTD's era and you'll end up with zilch. Wibbly wobbly timey wimey it may be but intricately plotty Moffatty story is what I like.
