  • There are plenty of normal engineers out there... :-P

  • @Genners111 What's normal though?

  • That's great!

  • the garbage man sounds the same as the doctor

  • CRY SUM MOAR

  • Dat dilbert is snappin mah sentry

  • ENGINEERS FTW!!

  • At least, he didn't become a "Wally"

  • I was going to make a witty comment about the low resolution

but seeing its Dilbert changed my mind

  • Stupid page had a commercial before the video....which was 240p?!

    *dislike*

  • @nequillim Dude, you're commenting on Youtube thanks to the engineers. In fact, Youtube wouldn't exist without engineers.

  • @nequillim i hope to god youre trolling

  • @nequillim yeah and without engineering people like you wouldn't be able to post on youtube so its win win

  • hahahahahahahahahahahaha. This is awesome. I'm surrounded by engineers and they're so great. Laugh, guys. All the engineers in my family are. This is too funny.

  • Engineering is awesome. You can build sentry guns and have more time to yourself.

  • I'll kill my company's MBA marketing consultant if I get 50 thumbs up.

  • Someone PLEASE explain....What is SO BAD about being an engineer? I would have thought it something POSITIVE....?

  • @Nineteen1900Hundred its for the comedy .

  • My friends; that's no Doctor, that's a Garbage Man.

  • @KasHCubeD That Doctor is a SP..er..Garbageman!

  • the story of my life...

  • This made me realize how sad and unfulfiling the lives of engineers are. So much work and so little pay. Sad

  • Why did he have to be an Engineer? We need Heavies!

  • I feel sorry for all non-Engineering minds.

  • Why the fuck are you quoting this cartoon? We have ears for fuck's sake! :<

  • poot dispenser here

  • hahahah i like when he says''he wil be an engineer'' like he got a deadly illness

  • If engineers ruled the world...or actually...what do I mean "if"...

  • Nothing wrong with being an Enginerd.

  • @fuzzywobs Yes there is! I unfortunately am married to one......

  • @gr8tgal1 Hey Engineers are awesome, you should be honored to be married to one ;P

  • @fuzzywobs you did not get the point dear :)

  • well playing as an engineer isnt that bad... is it? XDDDD

  • I saw this back in the day and laughed a little bit. Now that I am an engineer, this is just hilarious. It's like seeing Office Space after you get your first job working in an office or cubicle.

  • Sounds like my childhood. Except it was like

"hey, I'm done with my homework, I'm going to go do some math problems and draw graphs for fun"

everyone else: "what's WRONG with you??"

  • Hey, I want to major in engineering

  • @nequillim despite the fact, without engineers, YouTube, the Internet and pretty much everything on earth would not work.

  • As someone with borderline-line aspergers and who is also a lifelong Dilbert dan, this is both hilarious and saddening in hindsight. I need a cookie.

  • these cartoons were not that funny... until i started my engineering major....

thumbs up if you have an opinion that is greater than or equal to the above stated.

  • lol.good one. for me it started with LEGO mechas

  • @nequillim LOL

  • @nequillim It appears that you end up masturbating to girls you will never get, very sad world we live in..

  • He will

    Make the combustable lemon

  • Hey boys it a spah!

  • dilbert is credit to team

  • (insert tf2 reference here)

  • cant the doctor just zap dilbert with his medigun?

  • @l33tshinobialchemist

Who do you think build the Medigun?! ;)

  • would I be crazy if I were to suggest the doctor sounds an awful lot like the trash man :O

  • @ronoc9 not really, if i remember correctly it WAS the garbage guy who is the smartest guy in the cartoon anyway :)

  • i like how in the entire series the only person who has a shadow is the garbage man in this scene

  • "The knack..." LOL

  • "CAN HE LIVE A NORMAL LIFE?" - "No, he will be an Engineer :(" - "NOOOOO!"

  • @ihabmouti123 oh poor dilpert, how many spies will sap his sentries?

  • What's Dilbert going to get into next?

  • there there

  • Nope.avi

  • "can he live a normal life? No, he'll be an engineer"

That's true, my life isn't normal...

  • @leoalvesmachado thats the best part about living though! being unique and unoriginal

  • Engineers are awesome man. Also like every comment here is a tf2 referenced comment

  • So he's going to war with BLU?!? (Because his mom is in blue)

No wonder his mom is crying, he's going to get his ass kicked by RED

  • GOTTAM!

  • "Can he lead a normal life? No he'll be an engineer." This is hilarious.

  • im studying for engineer right now ;o

    I HAVE A DISEASE NO! :'(

  • is this simply a joke, or do people actually think there is something wrong with engineers?

  • I guess people ARE born to be engineers.

  • @maarire So you can't live a normal life.

  • Y'know if he'd been born at least a century later, this would mean Dilbert would qualify for the second coolest job in the universe-chiel engineer of the Starship Enterprise. And he'd stand a chance to get laid.

  • I'm an engineer.

  • HAHAHAHAHA.... in the long run, most people can't be normal. HAHAHAHAHA!

  • another female engineering student here! (electrical engineering) this vid is RLY good hahahah

  • MEDICAL ENGINEERING!!!!

  • @zakariyya90 Oops,zat vas not a dispenser...

  • I want to be a software engineer anyone with me?

  • @123nypd thats not real engineering

  • @Trollingwithmyhomies Lmao...if software isn't real engineering then neither is civil, mechanical, electrical, petroleum, chemical, and geomatic. Name me ONE field of engineering where the assist of a good ol' software program isn't needed. If it wasn't for software "engineering" technology would be mere pieces of metals and rotating gears.

  • @Has564 agree

  • @Has564 Unless they did it all by hand on paper, like they used to do for thousands of years before computers were invented.

  • @Has564 I'd like you to have a look at compression ignition (i.e. Diesel and similar) engines. They spent a good number of decades running on entirely mechanical components (e.g. mechanical jerk-type fuel pumps to meter the fuel coming out of the injectors), so it was entirely possible to make a car run without any electrical systems whatsoever (including the lights which were acetylene powered). Still, I understand your point about every field in modern engineering relying on software.

  • @LMF5000 Just had to add you to my friendslist for that comment. A seemingly unrelated question.: Are you a friend of Steampunk literature?

I remember an American Science feature, that showed, how all basic electric switches could be simulated with a system of wheels and tied ropes, and how, if the problem of overcoming internal friction were solved, an entirely mechanic CPU could be assembled, without even using a single conductive part!

  • @BusterXXXL Steampunk? Never heard of it.

Funny you should mention that. I know there's a hydraulic analogy for electric components (i.e the equivalent if you used water not electrons eg. voltage is pressure, current is flow rate, a battery is a water pump, a capacitor is a diaphragm, an inductor is a turbine, a resistor is an orifice, etc.) and I thought of making a cpu that used water instead of electricity so it never heats up. Only problem is the inertia of water which limits the frequency.

  • @LMF5000 Well, slow CPUs might be good for something, too. Controlling drainage systems?

Steampunk SteamPunk is a modern genre, inspired by Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Typical works are Utopic/Dytopic Novels, Manga, Creative Gaming and the like. The general aesthetic theme is a fascination with moving mechanical parts. The genre sparked interest in scientific exhibition toys, the kind a Tesla or an Edison would have used in the 19th century, and some guys actually specailize in designing them

  • @LMF5000 The aesthetics of the game Bioshock are a typical example of Steampunk aesthetics, so not an especially good example for its actual engineering. Steampunk-oriented LARP and CoSim magazines and communities are typical advertising places for actual Steampunk products.

Off course a lot of those are mostly dysfunctional fashion statements, too, but some of the gadgets show expert workmansship, and untilize scientific principles in amazing ways.

  • @123nypd bah, robotics-engineer is the way to go, integrating software with hardware

  • @Slench101 lol I wanted to be one befpre now I changed Computers!

  • @Slench101 bah, steampunk is the way to go, simulating software with ingenious hardware.

  • @BusterXXXL that was my second bid, though sadly, steampunk isn't a line of engineering xD

  • @Slench101 I have seen some really cool contraptions on youtube already, and I am dumbfunded right now, that I neer thought about adding them to a favorite list, but it provves, that at least for some guys, Steampunk IS a line of engineering.

It forces the designer to show far deeper understanding of mechanical processes, which, when looking somewhat awkward, has a pleasant entertaining effect, and, once it actually worked efficiently, saved a lot of engineering hours for IT specialists.

    &stuf

  • @BusterXXXL you can't go to a university and become a steampunk engineer...

  • @Slench101 nah, you will first have to pass a journeyman's examination for that v.v

  • utter social ineptitude. So true.

  • Yor son have a Mac?

  • lol wtf

  • Hey! my dad's an engineer and he's awsome!

  • 35 people are not engineers!

  • No...he'll be an engineer

  • my grandma said she used to hate buying me stuff because I'd just take the ping pong table set, the train set, and build it and put it ogether, but i had no interest in playing ping pong or playing with the trains. lol. She and grandpa were into sports, and I just wanted to create werid little inventions and just ignored them. Eventually they gave up and gave me like a whole bunch of puzzles. lol I was like five. And im an engineering student now haha. How true this little clip is.

  • Don't worry, as long as he turtles properly and spychecks regularly, he should be perfectly fine.

  • f*ck, that explains a lot of ma life =(

  • Need a dispenser here !

  • Female engineer student here. I lol'd hard. Sounds like the guys in my classes.

  • @aaaraura a female engineer !! an even more dangerous breed :-D

  • @aaaraura Cool!!

  • @aaaraura female engineers are awesome :) (and i'm not just saying that because i'm studying to be one! ...well maybe i am haha)

  • I'm a chemical engineer and I love this! It is so funny! And so applicable to so many people I know... "...and other social ineptitude." Haha!

  • @09maryp LOL me too! chem eng ftw! this video is so true, its ridiculous.

  • my english teachers hates math and picks on me cuz im in math honours.

  • Nice to hear Maurice LaMarche (aka the Brain from Pinky and the Brain and Egon from The Real Ghostbusters) doing a different sort of voice

  • "Don't worry, he'll be an egineer."

"That's not what you said the first time..."

"don't worry, someone change the universe. Engineers are now favored."

  • that mean

  • BRILLIANT ! - and Dogbert for world leader too I say ! He'd soon sort the wan**rs we've got now out................Scott Adams portrays the general public's attitude to anyone with practical abilities accurately with this little sketch. Another Adams gem.

  • He solves practical problems

  • 0:30 Spah saphing my disperser

  • I am an engineer for a week now. I got linked into here several times already. :/

Can't feel any change so far. Except of being awesome, of course. ;)

  • Uhh... I'm an engineer. We're normal people, you know....

  • @ThePhiladelphiaPhan LIAR! This video says other things.......

  • Why is she sad? If I were her, I'd say "yay, I have a real live engie!" , since he's one of my favorite classes.

  • my nuke friends and i watch this video whenever nuke is kicking our asses...it makes us feel so much better

  • Can he lead a normal life ?

  • Comment removed

  • LOL "Will he have a normal life?" ....."No, he'll be an engineer."

Damn, we engineers got dissed on that one.

  • There, There...

  • put dispencer here

  • I grew up with the nack...lol

  • WTF??

  • 32 people have "the knack"

  • @supergenius1994 No I think 1505 people have "the knack." Those 32 (now 33) WISH they had it! lol

  • "Yesterday I left him alone for a minute and he disasembled the tv, our clock, and the stereo" "That's perfectly normal. Kids take things apart" "The thing that worries me is he used the components to built a heavy caliber tripod mounted sentry" "Oh dear"

  • I hope to god there's a skin for the engineer to have him as Dilbert.

  • @skythesniperguy if there isnt by now,.. ivee lost all hope

  • He will go on to build teleporters, dispensers, and sentry guns!

  • he's not gonna make it with that wrench.

  • @viperx4wert He´s the junior-Engineer :3

  • @viperx4wert Dispenser goes HERE!

  • @viperx4wert team fortress 2 reference *jizzes and dies*

  • @viperx4wert And then there will be spies, which will sap his buildings.

  • I want to be an Engineer , and beeing an engineer is not a medical condition , but its still funny.

  • 32 people are art majors lol

  • No, He'll be an engineer. & Sobs.. :) ..Man, that's really hot!! LOL

  • 32 people got the knack.

  • Can he will live a normal life.

No, he will be a engineer

    (Sobs)

    That was epic.

  • He was rasied around scouts..

When he was 18, he commited suicide, beating himself to death with his own dispenser, which is all the scouts wanted anyway.

  • 32 people are spahs

  • the docter is really the garbage man

  • NO MATTER WAT HUMANS WILLL EVOLVE AND BEGIN USING TOOLS AND SO ON

  • Boy. İm Gonna Blow You Like A Rented Mule!

  • LOL @ calling engineers gay, looks like someone was rejected from engineering. Alot of engineers don't have girlfriends because engineering is ALOT of work and there aren't that many girls in engineering (especially if you get into electric, computer, electronics, software etc)

  • @TheMattswish There were near 30 female engineers during my first semester in Electrical Engineering. There were less than 10 female engineers during my second semester in Electrical Engineering. The class size for my sophomore year was near 500.

  • @TheMattswish yup, I dunno what the nubmers are everywhere else, but here, female engineers are only arond 10% of the population (of engineers)

  • hahaha

  • hey so that laptop you're using to using to write those comments? The iPhone you text with and the facebook account you socialize on?

Guess who built all of that.

  • Lol, almost all engineering Students I know (Grads, Fourth Years) party all the time.

  • That's the cartoon version of me =-)

  • there, there... XD

  • Currently studying some VHDL on a sunday, does that makes me having the knack?

  • ENGINEEERS RULE THE WORLD!!

  • @Bonertronica Without engineers you wouldbt be able to post in youtube because the internet wouldnt exist. Think before you say something stupid.

  • @buob1234567890 Yes it would. Computer programmers aren't engineers.

  • @Bonertronica And who made computers in the first place?... An engineer! Why do you hate engineers so much? Ive met lots of em and they are quite nice and cool.

  • @buob1234567890 Nah, that was a different kind of nerd with no life, not an engineer. Technology is gay.

  • @Bonertronica Calling anybody with a brain and the ability to use it to its full capabilities a nerd with no life is unfair. Without those so called "nerds with no life" you'd be living in a cave or forest, with no electricity or anything. You'd maybe have fire. You'd probably have rocks too. Now go kill deer with rock.

  • @GFedFan Life would be so much better without all those nerds who are too pussy to kill a deer with a rock.

  • @Bonertronica You want to live in a cave with no computers, internet, TV, air conditioning, Youtube, or anything other advancements we've made past the beginning of the Homo Sapien race? Oh well, that's your choice. You remind me of a kid I used to go to school with. Now, I'm in college and he works at Burger King. He was a real jerk to people. He was good at sports and thought he was all that, but he couldn't make a team. Oh well. I could care less.

  • @GFedFan That's actually the goal of every anarchist.

  • @Bonertronica Anarchists want to revert us back to the stone age? Wow, they're crazy

  • @GFedFan Technology is a manifestation of capitalism, therefore it must be sacrificed to obtain a perfect society.

  • @Bonertronica Your logic is illogical as technology existed before capitalism or even organised civilization.

  • @GFedFan Not modern technology. If you consider sharpening a stick to kill a wild pig "technology," then sure, it's existed about as long as humans have. That's a bit different from electronics and complex mechanical things though.

  • @Bonertronica Actually, we were all they way up to where the Amish are today before the banking system was developed. Before that, we had bartering for things we found, built, or grew.

  • @guidojacobs2002 The Amish have pretty much nothing.

  • @Bonertronica They have a stable, comfortable society that doesn't revolve around money. In some ways, that's better than what we have today, and would fit your anarchist ideals. If it doesn't, please explain what your ideals are in more detail.

  • @guidojacobs2002 They're repressed, superstitious, and isolated.
