Hello, i have a problem, because i need whole text from this funny video but i don't understand everything (i can't catch few words) if you are english and if you can send me whole original text on my email tomek_204_@op.pl
hahahahahahahahahahahaha. This is awesome. I'm surrounded by engineers and they're so great. Laugh, guys. All the engineers in my family are. This is too funny.
I saw this back in the day and laughed a little bit. Now that I am an engineer, this is just hilarious. It's like seeing Office Space after you get your first job working in an office or cubicle.
@neophytetroll ALBERT-O, aka, neophytetroll, SENT ME A TWISTED MESSAGE SAYING THAT HE IS A GAY LATINO HOMOSEXUAL FROM HOUSTON AND ASKING TO MEET ME FOR GAY ANAL SEXUAL INTERCOURSE.
WATCH OUT FOR THIS SICK PERVERTED MEXICAN LADY BOY!!!
Y'know if he'd been born at least a century later, this would mean Dilbert would qualify for the second coolest job in the universe-chiel engineer of the Starship Enterprise. And he'd stand a chance to get laid.
@Trollingwithmyhomies Lmao...if software isn't real engineering then neither is civil, mechanical, electrical, petroleum, chemical, and geomatic. Name me ONE field of engineering where the assist of a good ol' software program isn't needed. If it wasn't for software "engineering" technology would be mere pieces of metals and rotating gears.
@Has564 I'd like you to have a look at compression ignition (i.e. Diesel and similar) engines. They spent a good number of decades running on entirely mechanical components (e.g. mechanical jerk-type fuel pumps to meter the fuel coming out of the injectors), so it was entirely possible to make a car run without any electrical systems whatsoever (including the lights which were acetylene powered). Still, I understand your point about every field in modern engineering relying on software.
@LMF5000 Just had to add you to my friendslist for that comment. A seemingly unrelated question.: Are you a friend of Steampunk literature?
I remember an American Science feature, that showed, how all basic electric switches could be simulated with a system of wheels and tied ropes, and how, if the problem of overcoming internal friction were solved, an entirely mechanic CPU could be assembled, without even using a single conductive part!
Funny you should mention that. I know there's a hydraulic analogy for electric components (i.e the equivalent if you used water not electrons eg. voltage is pressure, current is flow rate, a battery is a water pump, a capacitor is a diaphragm, an inductor is a turbine, a resistor is an orifice, etc.) and I thought of making a cpu that used water instead of electricity so it never heats up. Only problem is the inertia of water which limits the frequency.
@LMF5000 Well, slow CPUs might be good for something, too. Controlling drainage systems?
Steampunk SteamPunk is a modern genre, inspired by Jules Verne and H.G. Wells. Typical works are Utopic/Dytopic Novels, Manga, Creative Gaming and the like. The general aesthetic theme is a fascination with moving mechanical parts. The genre sparked interest in scientific exhibition toys, the kind a Tesla or an Edison would have used in the 19th century, and some guys actually specailize in designing them
@LMF5000 The aesthetics of the game Bioshock are a typical example of Steampunk aesthetics, so not an especially good example for its actual engineering. Steampunk-oriented LARP and CoSim magazines and communities are typical advertising places for actual Steampunk products.
Off course a lot of those are mostly dysfunctional fashion statements, too, but some of the gadgets show expert workmansship, and untilize scientific principles in amazing ways.
@Slench101 I have seen some really cool contraptions on youtube already, and I am dumbfunded right now, that I neer thought about adding them to a favorite list, but it provves, that at least for some guys, Steampunk IS a line of engineering.
It forces the designer to show far deeper understanding of mechanical processes, which, when looking somewhat awkward, has a pleasant entertaining effect, and, once it actually worked efficiently, saved a lot of engineering hours for IT specialists.
my grandma said she used to hate buying me stuff because I'd just take the ping pong table set, the train set, and build it and put it ogether, but i had no interest in playing ping pong or playing with the trains. lol. She and grandpa were into sports, and I just wanted to create werid little inventions and just ignored them. Eventually they gave up and gave me like a whole bunch of puzzles. lol I was like five. BRILLIANT ! - and Dogbert for world leader too I say ! He'd soon sort the wan**rs we've got now out................Scott Adams portrays the general public's attitude to anyone with practical abilities accurately with this little sketch. Another Adams gem.
"Yesterday I left him alone for a minute and he disasembled the tv, our clock, and the stereo" "That's perfectly normal. Kids take things apart" "The thing that worries me is he used the components to built a heavy caliber tripod mounted sentry" "Oh dear"
LOL @ calling engineers gay, looks like someone was rejected from engineering. Alot of engineers don't have girlfriends because engineering is ALOT of work and there aren't that many girls in engineering (especially if you get into electric, computer, electronics, software etc)
@TheMattswish There were near 30 female engineers during my first semester in Electrical Engineering. There were less than 10 female engineers during my second semester in Electrical Engineering. The class size for my sophomore year was near 500.
@Bonertronica And who made computers in the first place?... An engineer! Why do you hate engineers so much? Ive met lots of em and they are quite nice and cool.
@Bonertronica Calling anybody with a brain and the ability to use it to its full capabilities a nerd with no life is unfair. Without those so called "nerds with no life" you'd be living in a cave or forest, with no electricity or anything. You'd maybe have fire. You'd probably have rocks too. Now go kill deer with rock.

@GFedFan Not modern technology. If you consider sharpening a stick to kill a wild pig "technology," then sure, it's existed about as long as humans have. That's a bit different from electronics and complex mechanical things though.
@Bonertronica Actually, we were all they way up to where the Amish are today before the banking system was developed. Before that, we had bartering for things we found, built, or grew.
@Bonertronica They have a stable, comfortable society that doesn't revolve around money. In some ways, that's better than what we have today, and would fit your anarchist ideals. If it doesn't, please explain what your ideals are in more detail.
