I have a theory of how mushroom pikmin are created.Once the pikmin inhale its purple stuff,thier dna and mind changes from how toxic the gas is,they then form a mutation and lose control,since the gas got on him,he got fungus on him making him have a mushroom head and a purple body.

And for those of you wondering what would happen if attacked by 100 Mushroom Pikmin whom once were Flower Pikmin, this is what would happen: Your Space suit would take damage at a average speed but once it reaches half, it will start to go very very fast (In other words: once it reaches half, you will about about a second left before you are down)

Also, If you call Pikmin back before they get infected (they have to be dismissed), you will be able to control them with the C-Stick only. If normal Pikmin see a Mushroom Pikmin, they will start fighting but they will stop if carrying an object.

What makes Pikmin to turn white is that they have to be dismissed and get infected by the Mushroom Spores. Then they will act as a normal Pikmin when idle (do tasks at distance) and the closest task avaliable when turned into Mushroom Pikmin is too Attack the PuffStool.

If you call them back the INSTANT the mushroom sprays them, then they will be in your squad. Be careful though, for the normal Pikmin in your squad will still attack them. You can't throw these purple Pikmin either, you can only control them with the C stick.

I just walk up to the mushroom (don't know name) with no pikmin and just punch it to death. it can't hurt you if you don't have pikmin. I think water washes off the spores, but if they're not blue you got to call them out before they drown.
