I enjoyed your playing very much but what u said moved me even deeper. Right now i'm working with teenagers in a "summer" camp in Berlin (its raining every day) and i can agree with u about what u'r saying.
Thanks for existing ;) and doing what u'r doing, and how ;), ppl like u are the proof that there's still hope :)
@nchannon1984 I dont play jazz or boogie woogie type music. im a classical musician, but if you like i can post a vid of me playing if you like, ill be sure to mention ur name in the video so you know its me. but only if you honestly wanna hear it.
@McGhostluvin Hey, i'm nchannon1984 - stupid Google made me remake my acc... :-s, anyway I seen your piano vid - your playing is good (from my lowly knowledge of pianists) but that piano BLOWS!
Also, check out Luca's latest vid - Dr. Jam, now there's some REAL CLASS.
Peace bro
P.S. I think you should drop the ghost vids, buy a good piano and post more piano vids.. :)
Being able to play that obviously takes alot of practice. I have one question. How do you / did you keep yourself motivated and patient to actually go through it?
It is nice to see and hear you play, Thank your mom and dad every day. You could have ended up like some kids your age rideing skate boards and doing ollies while stoned out of your mind. You will go far in this world, all u have to do is keep looking forward and stay commeted to what you do and do so well. nothing but love to you man, nothing but love.
Nice job, I want to learn to play this good, I only can play those simple ragtime solos and not perfectly. I got to get my chops up to play stride piano. Did you learn to stretch those tenths, or are your hands naturally big enough?
Very nice!! I play and I have been working on my stride...sorry to hear that your school system is cheating kids out of their time to practice. Have you come to the U.S. as a foreign exchange student yet?
are there any books or online lessons or whatever that would help learn and master this genre like you did? I've been taking classical piano lessons for 8 years.
I loved it! I play, too, and I see that you roll your 10ths, too. My hands aren't wide enough to reach a tenth comfortably. Great work! You've got a natural talent. Keep it up.
Have you ever heard the George Gershwin piano rolls he made. You can buy the CD's of his music at "Amazon." When he played the piano he would trill the basses with his 5th and 1st fingers. You have to hear him to believe what effects he produced when he did this....The CD where he does this is called: "Gershwin plays Rhapsody in Blue." There are 14 other songs on the CD you will love. The other CD where he plays his longer piano pieces is called: "George Gershwin S'Wonderful."
I grew up with a stride playing next door neighbour... he played in big bands in the 20s... great guy, great music... listen to Otis Span, if you haven't... not the best flash, but my favourite bite with the keys... he was also Muddy Waters cousin and key player... go deep Lucas, go deep... the music is calling you... in know what that's about...
Why is it that school systems in the US or abroad seem more dedicated to preventing learning than encouraging it? Children are our future, they deserve our best - not what we can spare.
@janegael Apparently Drone didn't read the comments at the end. I see his rude comment was removed. This kind of talent needs to be encouraged, not buried under a too stressful school system. Luca, you are lucky to have such amazing talent. Don't let the system beat you down.
first i thought that it's a video showing a stressed student playing the piano, and i was waiting to have a laugh. but hell i didn't see any stress. instead, i saw hands playing like water.
I can feel in the beat of the music why this is called "Stressed Student's Stride" XD this is the kinda upbeat tempo I think of when my day gets hectic lol AWESOME 5stars *faves*
You added an interesting dedication, but the fact is, that unless you really screw yourself up, you don't have to worry about school, because you have a gift from God. Please, continue to share it with us!
Nice dedication. Music and art are important. Kids need the chance. Here is a perfect example. Luca could be out getting high and stealing Bimmers for fun, but instead he's making videos of himself playing this great form of music. Some studies show that kids who learn to make music are better students. When I was a kid there was band, orchestra, chorus, and art, but I hear that's almost all gone away. Truly a loss for our future. And, of course, you're brilliant Herr Sestak.
@tallnbig68 there's the argument to that point... a lot of teachers will say a classical trained style makes the playing too rigid and even, not jazz at all
I don't like false advertising. And i;m not the one using three exclamation and question-marks. But most people just incorrectly use a lot of question marks, at least you don't...Good day sir!
You tell me... we're not even allowed to use the school's piano... :-?? besides the pile of homework they give us... and imangine that i'm in my 11th grade :))
Great job! Remember, no matter how stressed you get -- Keep Smiling! We love that smile! As a self-employed translator with more work than ever I know how you can feel stressed from lack of time. But if you keep doing what you love and keep a smile on your face, life's a whole lot more enjoyable and you end up the winner -- in spite of all the folks who try to make you feel otherwise. Keep up the great work Luca! We love your music!
And you wrote this? OMG! America (who started this thing) has lost interest in it (except for me!) and you play it better than anyone I have heard - it has passion and emphasis where it belongs - KEEP GOING!
Hi Luca. That was great. School can be stressfull but just remember school is only a small percentage of your life and the time will go fast. No matter what your aspirations and goals are in your life keep music an important part of it.
you shouldn't worry as much about not having as much time to pracise. as long as you have the time to practise enuf not to forget your pace and notes than u should b ok. music is like a language and grows within itself. besides... u always got the choice of dedicating your life just to the instrument and becoming big in famous concerts. depends how much compassion u have 4 the hobby.
I really like your style. I watch other boogie woogie and blues pianists, but I keep coming back to you. Keep up the good work. You are outstanding! I really like the slow blues the way you play it, with so much feeling. Thanks for putting a smile in my day.
