@noremac310 Steal? Music is just a combination of sounds and it doesn´t have any nationality. You´d be surprised to know how many Rock´n´Roll, Rockabilly, Psychobilly and Punkabilly existed in Latin America since the 50s. In fact, the first Punk and Psychobilly band in the world, Los Saicos, was Peruvian, and played from 1964 to 1966, even before those terms were created.
In any case, at this point of history Rock´n´Roll belongs to the whole planet.
hey man that song i guess is basically the revs version of the old hillbilly hot rod race / hotrod lincoln series of songs, its a bit hard and fast but RHH does do a bit of more traditional sounding stuff aswell as alot of country that sounds much more country than that boy band country stuff i see on tv on the country music channel, heavy distortion has been around since the 50"s, eg Link Wray's "rumble" I just didnt get the xzibit style presenters
... Punk rock... Rockabilly. Why do you care so much? they are essentially one in the same. Rockabilly is like the older version of punk rock. They paved the road to rebellion for many genres and cliques. Besides, one should keep a broad range of musical taste, Life is bland without...
You have your props Sir for keeping it alive in So Cal, however, mexicans did NOT start the look. Motorheads and greasers who were into good ole' Detroit steel started it in the 40's and 50's. Mind you there was segregation then... and Mexicans were not a majority influence in the US, expecially not one to start a movement of rebelion. Regardless, its something we can all enjoy and I think we can agree on that! Besides.. custom lowriders are clean =)
No, not really.. punk is nothing of rockabilly. Your trying to compare James Dean, Elvis Presley, Buddy Hollly to what? The Ramones, or mohawks, torn jeans? I would have to disagree.. and the music is completely different.
Maybe not so much 'punk' but if you compare it to psychobilly, they're not "completely different." The instruments are basically the same thing; a stand up bass, drums, and a guitar. They have similar progressions. The main difference is that the theme of psychobilly is much darker than that of rockabilly. All you really have to do to make a rockabilly song into a psychobilly song is you change the keys to a minor key, then change the lyrics up a little to fit the 'darker' side to psychobilly.
thats whats sad. you can take a pop-punk song and put a slap bass to it and its automatically considered psychobilly. go look up the batfinks or the guana batz to hear some real psycho. not that tiger army crap they call psycho now
haha i dont claim to know anything about it i just think that in my opinion the newer "psycho" bands arent psychobilly. its just my opinion. i dont want any problems =]
wow... that is sooo not rockabilly. awesome punk/psychobilly band (Calavera)... but it's not an accurate description of the Rockabilly Revival. Check out the Rebel Beat DVD... it's one of the better documentaries on Rockabilly. not the best but it's the best version you'll get within a few hours.
its not mainstream bullshit like what we hear in the radio, movies or pop culture nowadays.its about loving the usa, the fuckin badass cars, to dress up like a man and still respect and honor our beautiful women. Not like fuckin rap garbage and pinches lowriders mamones.
I was always into Rockabilly music. Got into in back in the mid-nineties. I always thought I was the only Mexican who liked this but then I discovered that there was a big rockabilly scene in LA.
Retro is part of the Rockabilly appeal.. but just part of it.. Pin-up, hot-rods, music, tattoos and fashion.. There is also a bit of punk influence in "psychobilly" which mixes Punk with Rockabilly..

Being a Mexican - American, this style has been part of my culture since it started ...and if your from LA..it's almost like another religion
so i sort of hate the fact that they mention Latino instead of Chicano or mexican-american, we started it all..why not shine the limelight on us?

That's very interesting to see American 'Latino' people take up a southern style of music and culture. Interesting to see these mix together!
