buffing also keeps your polish from bubbling on your nails. the base coat I like best so far is Ulta Salon Base Coat (Its like a clear green base coat). The China Glaze Adhesion Base Coat is alright but for me it peels a lot. Top coats, I have a few, the china glaze fast foward isn't great, ulta's is alright but takes FOREVER to dry, but I got a giant bottle of Beauty Secrets Hardener top coat from sally and its cheap & dries quick (though its not a quick dry) and it comes in 2.5 oz bottles!!
this hairstyle is cute! and if youre wanting to keep your nails healthy biotin is a good vitamin to take, and you can usually find it at a dollar general for a couple bucks or if u dont have those walmart kmart kroger any kind of store like that has it as well. and sally hansen miracle growth (i BELIEVE thats that name, its in a gold bottle) also helps a lot!
Hey try useing at least 2 coats of top polish but overlap it so the nail polish slightly gose under the opisit side of the nail if that makes sense !!!! hope it goes ok let me know Fanx x
I laughed when you said,"...the glass ones, gives me chills... ". I thought I was the only one that felt that way about those nail filers! They are suppose to be the best type for our nails, but they feel like I'm tracing my nail through some ice blocks!
As a professional nailtechnician, I'll recomend to keep using basecoat, both because it is actually making your polish stay on longer, and to avoid yellowing on your natural nails from the polish colours. Also using topcoats will seal the colours and keep it from chipping. But you should do a minimanicure before starting the polishing, that'll also help! Don't blame the basecoat, it's just that your nails need a minimanicure before starting.
you look so much like Celine Dion....u could be her twin :) I have a question regarding nails : My natural nails are naturally weak and flimsy. I take 10,000mcg of biotin daily, a multi vitamin, a prenatal supplement, and a calcium pill daily but I have flimsy bendable nails that rip and tear :( any suggestions? I have also tried Nail Envy, Sally hansen treatments, Duri Rejuvacote, Nail Aid treatments (which are chemical free) but non seem to help my weak nails
@ttcalittleangel2007 I have the exact issue--tried supplements-everything-the manicurist was like--why are your nails like this---the only thing that off sets it is constantly moisturizing them with jojoba oil--at night, everytime I have them in water etc. that is hard to keep up so if I stop they just break adn peel again. I thought it was vit d I needed cuz if I go to FL and sun for a day they are strong and stop breaking then I realized its the oil and sun just opens the pores to get it in
I finally went and had a gelish manicure done.. this applies like polish, but wears like a gel ! I have had it on for one solid week and there is no chipping, peeling, dents or anyting....they look as good now as they did the day I had them done :) I would suggest giving that a try...its a little more than a regular mani, I paid $21 incl. tax but its supposed to last for two to three weeks!!!! I luv it!!!! really, u should try this :) Don't do shellac, wont stay on ur nails
Just a tip, don't buff your nails too often, because it is essentially taking off layers of your nail and then after a while, your nail become weak :\
i dont like the seche vite polishes. I feel the same way about the base coat. and the top coat makes the polish peel off completely! i think its just too thick maybe
buffing your nails till they get shiny could actually have adverse effects. nail polish sticks better to rougher surfaces. thats why base coats are not shiny and often times dry with a matte finish. you should buff your nails just until the last step.
and also, base coat is really important if you paint your nails very often because it prevents them from yellowing. (especially if you wear darker colors or colors with yellow undertones.)
One thing about these nail buffers you should know. She mentions that it doesn't make your nails thin, but it can. It's recommended that you DO NOT use the most abrasive side "step 1" more than once a month for this reason.
any method of polish application would last IF YOU NEVER HAD TO TOUCH ANYTHING, SCRUB OR DO ANY SORT OF CHORE...but yeah as soon as you do the dishes your fucked.
I personally wouldn't recommed doing this.. since you're going to have to do this everytime you redo your nail it's going to cause them to be very thin and fragile. On top of that, not using a base coat can yellow your nails..

I do that step but I have gotten a little lazy and stopped buffing my nails out like you were describing, but now that I saw your video I'm going to do it all the time before I apply polish to make the polish last much longer thank you!!!!!
i was going to tell you you should go to amazon and look up bundle monster image plates and there these plates when you put polish on it and then use a stamper and put the design on your nail and it omes out so nice.if you probly think about getting this also look up scaper and stamper.trust me you will love this
No wonder my polish did so good last week! I randomly buffed my nails before painting (I don't ever really do it) and my polish looked great all week. This really works! I didn't see this tutorial beforehand but this explains it :-)
My nails never hold polish! Like they start to peel off within 24hrs! I already have one of those block 4-step file so I'll see if it helps. Did you use a base coat after filing or just file and polish?? THANKS
this is very random but could you tell me where you got your cartilage done i am wanting to get mine done in the same place as yours it looks so good !
Two more tips and I swear, as someone who couldn't keep nail polish on for more than a day, these two things help - Brush nail polish remover over your nails before you paint them to keep them from peeling, then after maybe a minute or two use a enamel drying spray. Don't get the ones with random animal oils, get the one with alcohol. c: I do dishes, clean, take baths and never have peeling or chipping, and my nail polish is the cheapest junk I could find at walmart.
Can you do a tutorial on your hair??? Please :) I think it's very cute how it is all pulled back but still pretty :) Also I couldn't tell but is it like bunched in the back because it looks like it was sticking out hairs all over, I liked it. :) So please please please tutorial on hair! :)
Bang on there with your video....This is what all nail salons do for a manicure with your own nails to get rid of oils on the nail be first soak then with the 4 sider shape, smooth, buff, polish the actuall nails....push cuticle then paint nails however you want and theeen moistures last! Totally works!
Hi Tiffany! GREAT tricks and tips! Love all your videos and your so beautiful! Love that polish color! :) I'm going to start doing this! Take care and love u! xoxo,Tara
I Heart Essie Nail Polishes....A-List- the truest red I've ever come across, like ever. I also have Sew Psyched, Playa del Platinum, and Really Red which is a ripe ripe tomato red
@littleheaven21 i do dishes alot also but mine don't chip too much or at all for that matter. maybe you should try using wet n wild no chip top coat. its .99 cents and it works really really well.
Here is the deal after removing old polish and before buffing the nails (which you only want to remove the shine) you must wash your nails with warm soapy water and then dry really good DO NOT soak your nails in water it expands them and when they dry they will shrink from the layers. After buffing wipe off dust, apply a nail treatment meant for your nail type like a Nail Tek product is great, then a sticky base coat like CND Sticky (ladies you MUST wear a base coat!) then your color of choice
well, it's good to know i'm not the only who has suffered with peeling of nailpolish -- not chipping, but peeling! but i am talking about top coats ..i never really used base coats.. but i do use top coats and my nailpolish always peels like the next day! very annoying! and i wasnt sure if it was just the brand that i was using. i just started using seche vite.. but havent tried it on my fingernails yet. anyway, thanks for the vid! i'll try and start buffing my nails now!
Girls, just buy the Avon Adhesive Base Coat and any nail polish will stick to ur nails, I mean it!!!! It also protects from dark N polishes. It's on outlet 21 for $ 1.99 and it works!!!!!!!!!!
I totally want to try this, but what about staining? because I think thats one of the reasons why people use base coats, to prevent staining from the nail polish.
@rockergirl830 I tried this for a few weeks (about 6-7) and my nails went yellow. The buffing tip is good but I've started to use a base coat aswell. I know this question was not aimed at me, just thought I would give some feedback x
Buffing the nail? I didn't even think about it, I've spent a lot on base coats too and have had the same problem. Chipping and peeling, I thought it was the oils on my nails rejecting the polish but I'll have to try this.
i really dont understand when girls that have such a dick ugly face try to look and believe their good looking with makeup. your just eatiing around the bush with reality. just stop please
AWESOME tip, i am going to try this...i have the exact same problem, my polish peels off. not chipping just totally peels off of the entire nail. i quit using basecoats too, have tried all different brands of polish and tops coats and my polish always peels right off the next day, very frustrating. can't wait to try this.
Do you have any tips for the actual painting process of nails? I'm just so sloppy and can't ever get an application that looks like the gorgeous photos I see of painted nails. It's always streaky and messy around the edges
Hi, so I tried this and it totally worked, but I was just wondering if you found that buffing your nails and then painting them made your nail beds really yellow?? Cause I paint mine all the time, and don't usually use a basecoat, and they've never yellowed until I tried buffing and then nailpolish.
it is true, if i apply a base coat it just comes out in like 1/2 days... I polish my nails once in a while but ill start to do it before painting (it sucks that i just painted mine 10 min ago)
Thanks for the trick, ill try!
I need to buy ur nail polish color :) need to extend my color range hehe
the only time i would definately use a base coat is when using really dark colours as they can stain. I have now opted for a gel overlay and am amazed at how long my colour lasts.
i have never tried this as everyone preaches about using a base and top coat to make you manicure last. Well with good quality top, base and lacquer i am lucky if my manicure last 2 days. i spoke to OPI UK and the lady there said she has the same problem. i guess thats just the way it is with some people.
i just bought a quo 4-sided manicure block for $5 after I saw this tip - just after using it you were right, i couldn't believe how great my nails looked!! i put on the nail polish so now i'm hoping i'll get more than my usual 2-3 days of wear out of my nail polish!! thanks for the tip!
I think buffing thins out your natural nail.

well, it's good to know i'm not the only who has suffered with peeling of nailpolish -- not chipping, but peeling! but i am talking about top coats ..i never really used base coats.. but i do use top coats and my nailpolish always peels like the next day! very annoying! and i wasnt sure if it was just the brand that i was using. i just started using seche vite.. but havent tried it on my fingernails yet. anyway, thanks for the vid! i'll try and start buffing my nails now!

Girls, just buy the Avon Adhesive Base Coat and any nail polish will stick to ur nails, I mean it!!!! It also protects from dark N polishes. It's on outlet 21 for $ 1.99 and it works!!!!!!!!!!

i love you hair! please show us how to do that! love you videos btw:)

If u spray alcohol on your nails before you paint, it also makes it last longer for me :)
amaleenunn 1 year ago
Seche Vite is notorious for making polish peel off in sheets in my experience. Causes major tip 'shrinkage' too.

I totally want to try this, but what about staining? because I think thats one of the reasons why people use base coats, to prevent staining from the nail polish.
rockergirl830 1 year ago
@rockergirl830 I tried this for a few weeks (about 6-7) and my nails went yellow. The buffing tip is good but I've started to use a base coat aswell. I know this question was not aimed at me, just thought I would give some feedback x

Buffing the nail? I didn't even think about it, I've spent a lot on base coats too and have had the same problem. Chipping and peeling, I thought it was the oils on my nails rejecting the polish but I'll have to try this.

It's always streaky and messy around the edges
dreamawake719 1 year ago
my nails are so paper thin, if I try buffing them, the ends just flake apart. Maybe I need to consume more calcium, lol

I am in cosmetology school and the reason this works is because it helps in removing the nail's natural oils that cause the nail polish to peel.

Hi, so I tried this and it totally worked, but I was just wondering if you found that buffing your nails and then painting them made your nail beds really yellow?? Cause I paint mine all the time, and don't usually use a basecoat, and they've never yellowed until I tried buffing and then nailpolish.

buffing does help =o)

the only time i would definately use a base coat is when using really dark colours as they can stain. I have now opted for a gel overlay and am amazed at how long my colour lasts.
TheSears4 1 year ago
i have never tried this as everyone preaches about using a base and top coat to make you manicure last. Well with good quality top, base and lacquer i am lucky if my manicure last 2 days. i spoke to OPI UK and the lady there said she has the same problem. i guess thats just the way it is with some people.

Thanks for posting this! I been applying nail polish and they never last me long.

i just bought a quo 4-sided manicure block for $5 after I saw this tip - just after using it you were right, i couldn't believe how great my nails looked!! i put on the nail polish so now i'm hoping i'll get more than my usual 2-3 days of wear out of my nail polish!! thanks for the tip!
