Happens to me once. They took 11 freakin' tubes out of me. Everything went white and I really needed to use the bathroom--didn't make it, though. It was very humiliating. Haven't been too keen on getting my blood drawn since.
This is what happens to me so I have to lay down now every time I get blood work done. But when I've fainted from it in the past the nurse would make me put my head between me legs to get the blood flow back into my head. This nurse did nothing!
@rainbowbrite24 She did, she used the alcohol pad. But the best way to do it really when you feel dizzy or faint is just to put your head between your knees.
1- She needed to rub some disinfectent on her hands before touching the patient or wash them.
2- She should of seen the girl is very young and scared.. whenever i get young patients like that i calculate how much blood is needed exactly and go for a needle and syringe bleed you get the entire volume of blood in one go alot faster.
3- shes not wearing gloves
4- She should have first aided the PT by grabbing and chair and getting the PT to put their feet up. (Elevating lower limbs)
the exact same thing happens to me. and by the way, she didnt faint, she just got really close. you cant really feel anything so you cant control your body, and you get dizzy and nauscious, you lose eye sight and hearing. its freakin scary.
@Fuckablelittleme its happened to me twice, it sucks... the first time was from a red cross blood drive; they took a pint (i think that is the correct spelling), the second was when i got blood taken for the doctor... they got to 6 drops before it happened lol. doesnt seem to be a pattern yet.

these nurses did good. This happened to me once but the docter lady person jabbed the fucking needle in my arm 6 times because she couldn't get it in the vein. When i passed out i heard the thx theme thingy (bbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbbuuuuuuuuuuuurrrrrrrrroooooooooooooooooooowwwwwww) and i heard a tv turn off then i woke up and i didn't know what the fuck happened :P
She almost like what 13-14 idk but blood test r scary when I was 6 I ran right out of the room boom I was out even with the needle in my arm. How dum was that
She almost like what 13-14 idk but blood test r scary when I was 6 I ran right out of the room boom I was out even with the needle in my arm. How dum was that
After the needle is inside, it's prudent to the person who is collecting blood to distract the child with questions avoiding him/her to concentrate on the action. She put the needle and kept quiet opening space to the child to think about that and faint.
funny, whenever I'm about to faint the nurse will make me lie down and then she holds my legs up, who the fuck are they hiring these days to draw blood? That looked so unprofessional and oh yeah, nice to see the nurse laughin at the poor kid..
Honey , I am not trying to put you down but, their is no need to to get yourself all worked up over having blood work . From personal experience perience I know having blood work is an unpleasant experience but, it's not as bad as you make it out to be . Next time you have further blood work done be strong sweetie I know you can do it !
I do that too. :( it's so embarrassing and uncomfortable. I have to get lab work done today and I'm so nervous I haven't slept. I always faint but you never get used to the awkward feeling, you just know when it's gonna happen and you got a good three seconds to warn people than it's lights out. I usually pee and take a few minutes to wake up and when I do it's like "WTF?! Where the hell am I? Who are you and why are you touching me?!"
@Starrbaby235 I have 1 thing that may help you. I am the same way too i pass out at any needle. I have found though when i get blood work done I ask if i may lay down. This helps you relax 100% Just breath in and out and relax and it will be over before you think it has to begin. When you sit up it makes you really tence and scared when you can lay down you can relax your hole body. it helps so Much. Just ask next time you go in for any work being done if you can lay down :) :)
I fainted a few nights ago. I woke up on the ground. I was out for maybe 10 seconds. That is because blood flow went to my brain. I don't understand why they didn't lay this girl down.
lol, i fainted in the doctors after i got my blood taken i walked out of the room they did it in and passed out in the hallway infront of everyone in the waiting area, it was really embarrasing:L
@Nexxia Its not the nurses you dumb twat. The little Girl obviously has an intense fear of either needles or blood. Jesus Christ... Blame the people trying to take care of you for your own Phobias- Nurse in Training
@SmgExecution wow. a) I'm so happy that the future in health care is running around cyber bulling people and all round being a waste of air, great job "dumb twat". b) If they were doing what they should have been doing, they would have laid her down, ESPECIALLY after she explicitly said she felt terrible c) you don't shove water down the throat of someone who just passed out. Maybe you should spend more time studying and less time being an asshole. Sincerely, med student.
@sedwarg They did everything wrong :p Why were they making her drink when she was barely awake? Bad idea, she needed to lay down, not drink water and BTW I am a medical student, so I'm not just talking out of my ass :P I also wonder why someone filmed this, it seems kind of :P
Aww :( I effing hate getting blood drawn, here's a tip if you have to do it again. Get it drawn from your hand. Not on the side of your wrist, but right near your wrist joint! Doesn't hurt as bad as the arm one x(
No no no I don't ever want to get my blood drawn no no no away evil needle away I hate hate hate hate getting shots and have needles stick in me endless it's a piercing lol
@idontsignin A phobia is more than a fear of something, otherwise it wouldn't be a phobia, it'd be a fear. A phobia of something is an irrational exaggerated fear.
that doctor is so shit, trying to make her drink water while shes still half out of it? very dangerous. You are meant to lower the patient onto the floor so they are laying down as soon as they faint, so that the blood can flow to the head quicker.
@Fatalerror300 The patient is perisyncopal not unconscious, giving cold water decreases vagal tone einstein, thereby raising HR/BP, giving cold water is perfecty acceptable for vasovagal near syncope. Also, the person drawing blood is not a physician. Are you even in healthcare to make these statements?
Aww...the girl in the video looks so sweet and cute. There are many people who have this type of vasovagal response due to needles, nervousness, etc. Should she require blood draws in the future, she needs to let the phlebotomist know she has had a vasovagal reaction in the past. They'll be ready to catch her in case she has another episode.
@Cjb0187 It is smelling salts. They are horrible and sort of shock you... it's not an alcohol swab. At least it doesn't have the potential to cause her to drown like pouring water into the mouth of an unconscious person.
wtf the nurse or phlebotomist or whatever that lady who is drawing her blood did such a horrible job, did she even do to school for that or not? wow i would've left that office as soon as i saw that she wasn't wearing any gloves
That happened to me a few years ago. D: I have a fear of needles in general, but I'm a bit weird about it. When I get injections, I feel fine. But when I get blood tests, I pass out! Why? I don't know. D:
They knew this would happen that is why they are taping it! Sick mother sick phlebotomist! I passed out trying to give plama once, they only had it in for seconds before my neurocardiogenic syncope kicked in. this poor girl probably has something similiar.
She wasn't donating blood - she was probably having it taken for tests or some other medical reason. They do it all the time to find out certain levels of sugar, etc.
I nearly passed out this afternoon seeing a relative have a drip put in:'D Im probably not going to donate blood! I thought you had to be a certain weight/age to donate. This kid looks about 10 and less than 7stone! No wonder she passed out!
First of all, no gloves? Then didn't lay her down when she fainted. THEN tried giving her water, what she wanted to drown her too?? The phlebotomist had 4 mins to lay her down before she would die from no oxygen to her brain. You could tell when she opens her eyes, her hearts pumping more blood trying to get her out of it but fails. Her mother, instead of recording and laughing her ass off, should have been distracting the girl or at least hold her hand. This is by all means is messed up!
The anxiety at first raises your blood pressure, but when she was looking like she was about to puke and getting all woozy her BP was dropping. They should've lowered her head and raised her feet. Since she was in a regular chair she would need to have her head on the floor and feet on the chair. I passed out from get my finger pricked before trying to donate ( that was my stupid move in the first place).
I had the same exact thing happen to me ... :( and i was standing and my dad caught me and i remeber waking up with about 3 doctors in frony of me and 1 was putting a sool under my legs and my dad was putting a cold wash cloth on my face
No gloves! Giving someone who passed out water! Why don't they just LOWER her head? Her Blood pressure fell to probably 60/30... Just lowering her head would get a bunch of blood to her brain; she would INSTANTLY recover.
@NETWizzJbirk Gloves are for the Nurse Protection, so if she doesn't want to wear them, it's up to her! ... Stuped?! ... maybe! ... but I can understand why! ... it's easier without the Gloves actually!
@NETWizzJbirk giving cold water decreases vagal tone einstein, thereby raising HR/BP, Also, puting someone in the trendelenburg does not INSTANTLY recover a syncopal or near syncopal episode, obviously youre not in the healthcare field or if you are, a low level position...emt? aide, volunteer?
@coolcatd17 I never claimed to know her exact BP... Usually passing out occurs only way below normal BP... For someone her age it takes a lower BP than someone older to get them to pass out. It is a vascular response where the body attempts to prevent bleeding to death by lowering the BP in a serious injury.
I am a phlebotomist and I have seen worst things happen when someone passes out. This is nothing. I had someone go into a seizure when I was taking his blood and I still had the needle in his arm. Also you don't give the person anything until they are awake. The best thing would have been a cold cloth on her head and have her lay down with her legs bent.
One thing that REALLY bothered me is when at the end when the nurse, MA, whatever ,gave her water. When someone isn't competent enough you shouldn't f***n give anything per os! they could friggin aspirate!....
@londongirlhannah :D well I persuade the dr that it was not necessery to do it because i had already grown (the test was to see if my hormones had started) I WAS HAPPY AS HELL :) hope your goes fine.
just come info IF you dont wanna faint during tatto or just piercing'' Dont think about it at all and just do if you wanna do it so badly. If you thinking about it much you WILL faint becos you tell your brain it ganna hurt so much and it will not get any blood.
dam with that big of a head , the blood needs to stay around it. and its also fucked up if that nurse was laughing, not saying she was , but i would be

This is by all means is messed up!

the same thing happens to me every time! they just lower my head between my knees and I recover right away.. she got so pale.. poor baby!

I passed out from getting blood drawn before. I think it was more anxiety related than blood pressure.

i almost passed out from my blood being taken because the nurse would take my blood and say it wasnt good and throw it away she did that like 3 times

she should have pulled out right when the girl said that she wasn't feeling good. she didn't have the arm rest set either.

I had the same exact thing happen to me ... :( and i was standing and my dad caught me and i remeber waking up with about 3 doctors in frony of me and 1 was putting a sool under my legs and my dad was putting a cold wash cloth on my face
sydneyrose31 2 months ago
No gloves! Giving someone who passed out water! Why don't they just LOWER her head? Her Blood pressure fell to probably 60/30... Just lowering her head would get a bunch of blood to her brain; she would INSTANTLY recover.

@NETWizzJbirk Gloves are for the Nurse Protection, so if she doesn't want to wear them, it's up to her! ... Stuped?! ... maybe! ... but I can understand why! ... it's easier without the Gloves actually!
yssssm 2 months ago
@NETWizzJbirk giving cold water decreases vagal tone einstein, thereby raising HR/BP, Also, puting someone in the trendelenburg does not INSTANTLY recover a syncopal or near syncopal episode, obviously youre not in the healthcare field or if you are, a low level position...emt? aide, volunteer?
butterwrapper 2 months ago
@NETWizzJbirk you dont know what her BP is dumbass
coolcatd17 1 month ago

U don't give food or fluids till they are stable. They can aspirate the fluid or choke on food. Stupid. Other than that u did good job

Stupid nurse shouldn't have given water when she's like that she could of aspirated the water
MrEmt19 3 months ago
@sweetzez I learned that the hard way :(

One thing that REALLY bothered me is when at the end when the nurse, MA, whatever ,gave her water. When someone isn't competent enough you shouldn't f***n give anything per os! they could friggin aspirate!....
