Windows are a bad idea all around... Just follow the TEK to the letter and you will do fine
well i tried growin brazil strain but i injected as soon as it was done boiling (first attempt at growing shrooms) after 2 weeks with no signs i injected B+ and got em going, but the stems are about 2 inches at best these are all huge stems :(

@codyh1990 First word to remember is patience, next is to fill your syringes with as much spores as possible (two or more prints). After that, always water the cake and keep by your window like you said. Also when the sun goes down I've found that filling your sink with hot water, putting the tub into the water, then covering it with a grocery bag creates a very nice humid environment for them. And there is no such thing as "too much water". Good luck.

@dashizzle1985 its sterilized vermiculite thats been colonized with psilocibe cubensis spores. you can get vermiculite from any gardening store and sterilize it in cups in a pressure cooker.

@Mavericks411991 yeah it is supposed to grow through out the cake. Wash a way the uncolonized sub. Dunk the clean cake in a hydrogen peroxide/water mix for 12 hours and fruit it in its own separate container just to be extra safe.

When it comes to total yield, difficulty of growing, and total grow time; B+, Ecuador, Penis Envy, Orissa India, The Treasure Coast, or Amazonian? It's my first grow and I need to pick a strain.
I started with B+ and my first grow went smooth, and if anything I neglected them really. That is why I went with B+, they it is very forgiving of temperatures etc. (Trying to maintain optimal temps in a UK winter isn't easy)
@theplunkinator with a monotub you could make 20 quart jars and make up 4 tubs.5 jars to a tub.Even if every tub only gave you 4 ounce the first flush thats still 16 ounces so think of 3 flushes from 4 tubs.
Surely you meant dry? 80g FRESH from that many cakes would be what... 8-10 dry grams in total? 3-5 dry grams, per cake, per flush is somewhere nearer the mark surely?
In the tray is Perlite. The "big bumps" are the 'PF Tek' cakes... which is brown rice flour and vermiculite mixed together and put in half pint wide mouth canning/masonry jars, which are then sterilised and, once cool, injected with spores. Once the mycelium (the white stuff) has grown all around the jar, they are removed from the jar and put in a fruiting chamber or plastic spawn bag to grow. @jasensullivan I used Millet back in the 1980s from my bird seed for the poultry. I could even chuck the used pu cakes on the bird poop cleaning stuff and grow more shrooms when we had a wet spring. Fortunately the climate here is usually so dry the mold contamination was not a huge problem, unless you got it started in your grow area, then you were screwed. What I miss is Peyote. A friend used to clean grind and put it in #0000 capsules. 8-12 of those and your ribs were sore from laughing.

Would really appreciate some help. I have got everything figured out, the only thing that no where seems to detail is how much solution to use in each jar. I will be making a 10ml vial of Liquid Culture (i will have a 10ml Spore Syringe and inject it into the LC first). @Spanktastic1989 You can inject 1cc of spore solution into 500cc karo/honey/water, give it 2 weeks, viola, live culture baby. Now you will see growth 3 days quicker.
Also, if you are following pf tek, why not just follow it correctly. You dont have to use LC..and you will end up spending 2 extra weeks and possibly contaming. Follow pf tek, incoulate with 1/4cc in each of the 4 holes. in 3 to 5 days you will see dime sized mycelium growth that will keep colonizing as time goes on.

Ok so I have a flush growing right now and I was under the assumption that they are supposed to be picked right after the veils break but you don't do this I was just wondering if I had the wrong idea?
@Smokerface86 For Cubensis typically, the best time to pick them is Right Before, the veil breaks. This is when the mushroom is most potent but its hard to tell sometimes so right when the veil breaks works fine. During flushes, sometimes not all mushrooms turn mature. Pick the pins up as well as the flush is at the end of its lifespan.

@totalfreshness Garage is generally not a good place because of the bacteria and dust. As for lighting, during the colonization phase, you dont need any light, and a temp of 70-81 F is typical. Be thankful your not in Georgia, Idaho or California where its illegal to order spore prints

@jasensullivan I used Millet back in the 1980s from my bird seed for the poultry. I could even chuck the used pu cakes on the bird poop cleaning stuff and grow more shrooms when we had a wet spring. Fortunately the climate here is usually so dry the mold contamination was not a huge problem, unless you got it started in your grow area, then you were screwed. What I miss is Peyote. A friend used to clean grind and put it in #0000 capsules. 8-12 of those and your ribs were sore from laughing.

@kaeilien spores,needle,jars,vermiculite, brown rice flower,coffie seed blender,tin foil,pressure cooker, huge clear bins like 3.To huge rubber gloves,perlite, distilled water..(DO NOT USE TAP WATER) a little bit of knowledge....Keep everything as clean as possible you jars will turn out better.

whos said you couldn't get anymore than 80g's off the PF tek method?their stupid, I get 2lbs average just using two shoebox size clear plastic boxes only holding 6x125ml mason jars, and thats just the first flush, aaaand not using any chemicals, 100% natural and organic ingrdients go into my girls. Would really appreciate some help. I have got everything figured out, the only thing that no where seems to detail is how much solution to use in each jar. I will be making a 10ml vial of Liquid Culture (i will have a 10ml Spore Syringe and inject it into the LC first). Would really appreciate if some1 could advise how much of the spores to inject into the Liquid Culture, and also how much of the culture to inject into the substrate... I will be following PF Tek, and making 5 Jars of substrate.

And why the hell would he shoot 8cc of spore solutikon into anything?? Even if he was making a 2 gallon bag of substrate he wouldnt use 8cc.

@Spanktastic1989 You can inject 1cc of spore solution into 500cc karo/honey/water, give it 2 weeks, viola, live culture baby. Now you will see growth 3 days quicker.

Also, if you are following pf tek, why not just follow it correctly. You dont have to use LC..and you will end up spending 2 extra weeks and possibly contaming. Follow pf tek, incoulate with 1/4cc in each of the 4 holes. in 3 to 5 days you will see dime sized mycelium growth that will keep colonizing as time goes on.

Ok so I have a flush growing right now and I was under the assumption that they are supposed to be picked right after the veils break but you don't do this I was just wondering if I had the wrong idea?

@Smokerface86 For Cubensis typically, the best time to pick them is Right Before, the veil breaks. This is when the mushroom is most potent but its hard to tell sometimes so right when the veil breaks works fine. During flushes, sometimes not all mushrooms turn mature. Pick the pins up as well as the flush is at the end of its lifespan.

im a shrooms newb.. ive tried very hard to get shrooms but here in tha CT area i gotta travel :/ so ive only done em a few times... but anyway i was just wonderin if i grow these in my garage ? (low light/lil cold) or sunroom? (alotta light, same temp. as outside)

@totalfreshness Garage is generally not a good place because of the bacteria and dust. As for lighting, during the colonization phase, you dont need any light, and a temp of 70-81 F is typical. Be thankful your not in Georgia, Idaho or California where its illegal to order spore prints
