A View from the States- I have just watched this video and this is the first time I have seen that anyone in Europe is opposed to the EU. From the news we see you would think everyone over there is on board with the new treaties. Glad to see at least some people value their sovereignty. @mare652 there have been at least 3 referendums that i can think of where the people of 3 countries have voted against eu treaties and all the politicians have done is either ignore them or make them revote till they accept it. the eu is rapidly becoming like the old soviet union, and by the way many members of the eu parliament are ex communists. the eu is HATED by most normal people in europe

Mass media shape our perception of the EU, generate pro-EU "group pressure" and almost always take recourse to calling eurosceptics and anti-EU-minded people explicitly or by implication nazis - which is an incredible insult especially to austrians and germans and has a massive effect on our electoral behaviour.

@ukipwebmaster Forgive my ignorance. I am trying to understand something. First off what does the referendum mean. Secondly, in Europe, who actually is for and who exactly is against the EU? Is there anything that can be done about it? And is it only the conservative party in England that has a lick of common sense? Or do a majority of citizens from the countries residing in the EU find themselves against it? It would make since if those countries were the economically sound ones.

The EU is using scams to grab power like Washington has been trying to do but in the states we have the 10th amendment to stop DC. I think the bailout will result in an emergency situation where they'll have to impose a large tax on you. So the EU will grab power time after time until it is a strong central government and the original nations are weak governments, one problem though, zero accountability to the people. They will do with you whatever they want.

@texasgringooo - nah, the big taxes have come from our governments propping up our banks with our tax money because Lehman Bros, and dodgy mortgages from fanny etc caused a bear market across the globe coz no-one trusted their investments anymore. That were sold to the international markets as triple A secure loans when they obviousely weren't was down to a lack of regulation by Bush's administration. You reap what you sow. How are the Bush's?
