At first I thought the rat was making a scared noise, but when the rat followed Jaak's hand, it made me think the little rat must like it lol. Cute video.
He's not being too rough. I had a baby rat tat used to play with one of my cats--the cat would get on its back and kick the rat with its hind legs (you've probably seen cats play like this). The rat would squeak and run away, and I would get concerned, then 2 seconds later the rat would run back and jump onto the cat to keep playing. This guy knows what he is doing. Still, please be gentle with your pets.
Rats are very interesting creatures.Intelligent and strong even if so small.I've heard about it before that rats can be ticklish, their brain receives those same signals as human brain. While many other animals don't have that ability
No....that rat is definitely enjoying itself. My brother raised them for years, that's what they look like when they're enjoying themselves. And he's not being too violent with the rat, either, that's how you are with them. They're really strong little things.
The chirping sound the rats make when being tickled is the exact same sound made when young rats wrestle and play with each other, and it's connected to the release of dopamine in the rat's brain, the hormone of excitement. It's definitely joy.
Fear and pain is associated with entirely different vocalizations and behaviors.
Ohmygawd. Why is the rat making weird noises when tickled? xD
