When it comes to the wrong grail, I think it transforms the victim into a zombie because Donovan still seems to struggle after becoming a skeleton and his undead form is a boss in the SNES game based on the trilogy. It's when Indy pulls Elza away that he turned into dust. Even I like to use my imagination in movies and games. It helps you come up with your own bizarre theories on the situation and make things more interesting.

Hmm, wouldn't quite agree. I think the false grail does make you dissolve into ashes, if Indy didn't push Donovan, it would only be a matter of second when Donovan would crumble himself. It does make me wonder whyever Elsa didn't try to knock Donovan down herself, though.

Nope, Not remastered it was like that when the movie originally came out. I remember seeing it opening day when I was 12 years old. The indy series has had it's fair share of gruesome deaths. I'll be adding a few more soon.

@xStryfx They had three puppets for different stages of the death. They shot them separately and then digitally morphed them to the same shot. Pretty impressive for 1989 standards.
