converge is one of the most respected bands to come out of the metal/hardcore scene in the last 20 years. I can see how some Cure fans might not dig Converge but do not dismiss them as some generic, flash-in-the-pan. I always thought Converge went way out of their comfort zone on this track and did a very good job.

The music was good, and though the vocals should have been turned up in the beginning, the song was well done at first. Then came the screaming. I'm sorry, screaming can work well in a song, but it is WAY out of place here. This cover is disappointing.

I'm presently in a band heavily influenced by Converge, and have been listening to them constantly lately. Both bands are talented at what they do. Just cause you don't like screaming vocals doesn't mean they're bad.

Screaming vocals keep people out of the shows that wouldn't appreciate the band for what it is. I've seen converge twice, and their shows are way more fun and entertaining than shit pop bands that just stand there made-up with a huge light show to keep the audience's attention.

Wrong, it did happen. And it happened years ago. For Converge to cover anything similar to their own style (which is hard to define in the first place) wouldn't be a challenge, or even interesting to say the least.

This is one of the bands that pioneered that "cliche". I realize that knowing that probably isn't going to alter your opinion of the way it sounds, but I felt compelled to correct you because it bugs me that you've lumped them in a category with their imitators.

With that said, you might enjoy the cover they do of "Clean" by Depeche Mode. There's no screaming in that one.
