  • My favorite band covering my other favorite band? Fuck yeah

  • Comment removed

  • this is fucking crushing.

  • I love both bands and both versions. You people are so closed minded!

  • shittttttttttttttttttttttt

  • I love Converge and always have. They play the best and most alive shows I've seen. But I must say, When covering a song from The Cure.... The screaming can fuck off.

  • i think this piece of shit became a master piece when they play it

  • converge is one of the most respected bands to come out of the metal/hardcore scene in the last 20 years. I can see how some Cure fans might not dig Converge but do not dismiss them as some generic, flash-in-the-pan. I always thought Converge went way out of their comfort zone on this track and did a very good job.

  • What's this shitty vocals omfg!

Dear sir, you've missed the most important part in a cure song cover, no fkng growling, ffs.

  • @Dynamitethedrummer

So go listen to The Cure play it...

This is a cover by Converge remember... the Hardcore band. If they left it as it was, there'd be no point covering it. Regard music as art, everyone has their own interpretation of it. You know?

    omfg, haha

  • Holy shit, this sounds like Cats fucking to a bad guitar riff that sounds nothing like the cure. Robert Smith is rolling over in his grave and he's not even dead yet.

  • Started well then - well let's just say it "Disintegrated". Stick with the original and best - especially the live version form "Festival"

  • converge is in no way a screamo band dont even dare compare them to one

  • The music was good, and though the vocals should have been turned up in the beginning, the song was well done at first. Then came the screaming. I'm sorry, screaming can work well in a song, but it is WAY out of place here. This cover is disappointing.

  • @Talrose Vocals turned up in Converge songs? Nope.

  • No.

Some parts were okay but if anyone says this is better than the original, you are crazy. I don't doubt that you are good musicians, and it shows, but do not scream, like 'screamo', in a Cure song. Okay.

  • @Zeldaforeva this cover destroys the original, in part due to the screaming. and i'm pretty certain any self-respecting converge fan would bitch slap for clumsily referring to them as screamo. i sure would.

  • disintegration is my favourite song... i don't like this cover...

  • Wish I could hear the vocals... other than that sounds great.

  • @HuckMeHard then your ears and/or head are broken

  • Wow this is so perfect Bannon's got some pipes

  • 4:08 is like the best shit I've ever heard.

  • I think my life just changed

  • When it kicks in at 3.00! amazing

  • ♥!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I love this Cover♥

  • i cant get enough of this song!

  • cromlek sounds like a right little nob head!

  • oh my god

  • for everyone wondering if 4:08 is bannon, it's not. it is kurt. listen to kid killowatt, a side project of his and the singer/guitarist from cave in. his voice is all over that album. sounds exactly the same as that voice.

  • @angelhair0 kurt wasn't in cave in. stephen brodsky was in both converge and cave in. so it's probably him.

  • @stevensass i know, i didnt say kurt was in cave in. kid killowatt has both kurt and stephen in the band.

  • I think this sounds really great, fellas.

  • how disappointing ....

  • anyone know if it is Bannon singing starting at 4:08 or is it Nate or Kurt? never heard JB sing like that if it is him...

  • @doobopsheewaa This can't be Bannon

  • @Squeglee it is.

  • @cromlek

Uh, no. The emotion is what this track is all about. And Converge does an amazing job of conveying passion even without some of the lyrics.

  • @TheIrishPatriot fuck you and your emo bullshit jake is one of the best hardcore singers in the world

  • @MTVVH1sucks singers??? LOL.... you mean turning it down and adding distortion to the vox?? yeah man, totally... Cave In could at least "sing", as far as bands in the time period/genre are concerned.

  • @cromlek

First, this isn't screamo, two, there are no breakdowns, three, you are a fucking ignorant shitskull of a person.

Just because you don't appreciate this sort of music doesn't make it 'not very good'.

I'm sure Robert would be quite flattered to hear a band like Converge covering his song being that hardcore punk bands don't generally cover songs by The Cure).

You're nothing but a music Nazi and I want to punch you in the stomach. Your comment doesn't deserve to be on here. 'HAHAHAHAHA!'

  • @ipudding100 um, no. Well atleast ur tuffguy persona cant get me in the real world cos then i would be in trouble. I can just picture the storm of limp wristed slaps and hair pulling now. :D Honestly dude, like what you want but this is an absolute butchering. This is quite frankly, FUCKING SHIT> and u can want to hit and hurt me and slash ur wrists and dye ur hair black again, and curse ur parents for getting u an internet connection... but this song is a fucking turd. You made my day. Thanks

  • @cromlek

    Mate, don't patronize me.

I can get that people won't like this cover. What gets me is your outright ignorance. People will make songs and covers that you won't like, but you don't have to make that into an excuse to parade your total lack of knowledge about any music outside your own preference. Your attitude just makes you look like an idiot.. The band didn't set out to copy the song, they wanted to make it their own, which they did. No one cares if you don't like this song.

  • @ipudding100 "Mate, don't patronize me." - Already have, dickhead. So why dont you go complain to mum about it? Maybe set up a Facebook hate page about me or something? Turn your angst into a bitchin all colour tattoo, even? Dude, you just made my day a second time. With consistency like this you should hire out your services. Best remedy for a shit day at work ever. Retarded whinings of kids in my inbox. Thanks again. (and God bless the Intardwebs.) peace

  • @cromlek

How'd you get a job? You're so fucking stupid..

  • This is a really good cover of "disintegration" . usually bands covering the cure do either an irrelevant or a stylistically lacking version of one of their songs.

  • 本家のThe Cureとはまた違う美しさがありますね

    僕はこっちも大好きです

  • god the intro gods on forever

  • This was on a "Disintegration" tribute with hardcore bands doing The Cure album song for song. Most of the songs were really great.

  • Amazing cover, there so versatile, just with the vox were turned up louder in the mix, but when he starts screaming, I can feel the chills, wow

  • @Devaprakash777 -Just wish the vox

  • @Devaprakash777

that's because he can't really sing.. or scream well for that matter. But they were good life and had a huge following.

  • @Devaprakash777

that's because he can't really sing.. or scream well for that matter. But they were good live and had a huge following.

  • @discordanceaxis1 -true, but they do bring the passion and energy, that's what makes them great to me,haha

  • @discordanceaxis1 your wrong jake is a master.

  • that cut so deep in to my heart and punctured my lungs and made me bleed from the inside, fuck me gently

  • @mikecuzzy

    hahahahahahaha

  • is this the same converge who did dark horse??

  • yeah

  • @MrPeaBuddy AND AXE TO FALL..

  • i thought i knew converge. but i guess not. i had no idea they did these covers. damn i love this band.

  • @geraldsquareblack if you haven't already, check out their cover of clean by depeche mode...

  • converge is my favorite of all time they never let me down when some new song or cover come best show i have ever been to 99 austin emo's

  • interesting cover

  • i've been listenin to this song for 3 days straight

  • put down the crack piece

  • omfg THE SONG

  • This was on a CD that had a bunch of hardcore bands playing The Cure songs. What was that album called and what was the song that Cave In covered on it?

  • disintegrated.

  • @crockadock Disintegrated: A Cure Tribute and Cave In covered Plainsong.

  • i love converge :) the vox on that dude could make your head explode!

and the cure will always be one of the greatest bands of all time, hands down..

to have two bands from the polar opposites of the music spectrum fuse together is just.. nothing short of amazing?.. yeah :)

  • I was so happy to find this! The Cure is my favorite band of all time, and I also really love Converge. I'm presently in a band heavily influenced by Converge, and have been listening to them constantly lately. I'm enamored by their style, lyrics, and intensity, and to have them cover one of my favorite songs of all time with such a unique take a great deal of originality just makes me love them even more. If you're into hardcore music at all, check out Converge live...they will blow your mind!

  • my favorite song of all time.

  • Comment removed

  • >= l

    how dare you scream.

  • the screamings are full of emotions, they are no way dull or fucking cliche, it works,

the only thing bad about this song is the sound quality...

a good cover which goes deep, nothing else expected.

  • Said it before and i'll say it again. I'd prefer to hear someone scream with a crackling, rasping, fucked up voice that means it, than a perfectly honed yell that has no weight of truth or emotion behind it. Converge fucking rule.

  • both version are fucking beautiful. both very original bands

  • Love it. The cure and Converge. Both freakin genius in their own style and music. The fact that converge is covering disintegration makes for some pure awesomeness

  • So much emotions put into this. Wow.

  • holy fuck this is crushing.

  • this is incredible. two unbelievable bands. converge have really challenged themselves here. excellent effort!!!!!!!!

  • I love The Cure and this is probably the best Cure cover I've ever heard.

  • didn't think fellow The Cure fans would be so hostile towards a modern band's approach to progressive punk

Both bands are talented at what they do. Just cause you don't like screaming vocals doesn't mean they're bad.

Screaming vocals keep people out of the shows that wouldn't appreciate the band for what it is. I've seen converge twice, and their shows are way more fun and entertaining than shit pop bands that just stand there made-up with a huge light show to keep the audience's attention.

  • People who don't like the song because he's "screaming" aren't looking at it correctly. And by "it" I mean music and art in general.

  • Hmm, it's not THAT bad. "Disintegration" (by The Cure) could be my favourite song ever and I love it to death.

  • i've loved converge and the cure for many years, i can't say this is the best cover but a great attempt on converge to cover a band as great as the cure.

  • the two bands are good but of course the cure is better(go check the live version of the cure dist) great bands great song but l like the cure cover is better thanks for the post great song to be honest .

  • viva converge!

    viva the cure!...

    great bands!

  • best cover ever

  • Better than your mom.

  • lol at the douches bitching about the screaming its fucking converge what do you expect

  • Wrong, it did happen. And it happened years ago. For Converge to cover anything similar to their own style (which is hard to define in the first place) wouldn't be a challenge, or even interesting to say the least.

As for your recommendations...a Rollins cover, or "sweedish black metal" [sic] just tells me that you don't know much about Converge.

  • :'(

  • You mad?

  • It sounded good till that cliche, unoriginal screaming came in. What a joke........

  • Dammit...I gotta agree. I was completely sold prior to that. The percussion is fabulous. Too bad.

  • This is one of the bands that pioneered that "cliche". I realize that knowing that probably isn't going to alter your opinion of the way it sounds, but I felt compelled to correct you because it bugs me that you've lumped them in a category with their imitators.

With that said, you might enjoy the cover they do of "Clean" by Depeche Mode. There's no screaming in that one.

  • converge is still good you're lunchin.

  • no comments? fuckin good song, when converge was still good and had two guitarists
