@onemichaelmarsee thats still a pretty big engine man!! remove the mufflers and get the 3 inch straight pipes after cats!! unleash the beast!! that would sound great!!
i have a 1985 trans am with a 1978 corvette with 3932441 heads shaved by the way full roller with a hell of a cam a torker 2 intake and a holley double pumper 650 cfm headers and so on i have a 2.5 diameter exaust and a original muffler for me its a waste of money to put a flowmaster juste to have the sound !!!!! when you have the power under the hood and when i see those who have sound in the mirror i just laugh !!!! the point is that they don't hear but they smell my exaust !!!
don't have to take my word for it but . . if you ask somebody who knows anything they could explain to you how and why clogged up Cat Can fry a mass air sensor
i have seen it Countless times .
automatic F.body will even act Like there's something wrong with a transmission ,
shifting Way 2 Late and Or.. . downshifting and not Letting Go .
Just chopping off the Cat and the car comes back to Life .
wow you truely are dumb Balkan, flowmaster 40s are one of the least flowing aftermarket mufflers out there (not saying they don't sound good, they sound great) his cat is fine you don't know what you're talking about lol, mass air sensor and egr would be worse off with no catalytic converter, tips are for looks mainly, tuning on a stock engine would hardly benefit it.
Just bought my Trans Am yesterday..... Black and bone stock except K&N filter. I think I want a Flowmaster now...... How much was yours and where's a good website for a good price?
Replacing just a muffler doesn't add or subtract a noticeable amount of HP anyway. It is done for the rumble noise. If you want to add HP you have to go from the headers all the way back. I have flow masters on my Camaro the only difference is now I hear when I step on the gas, sounds awesome.
and wide open exhaust loses low end torque... flowmaster has nice horsepower gains while keeping torque and making the car sound better than stock. if its a daily driver i'd stay away from wide open exhaust (and long tubes)
I work at an exhaust shop and right on the flowmaster box it shows that the 40 series has high performance, max flow, and maximum sound with medium interior resonance.
So I suggest flowmaster :P Unless you area a magnaflow fan. (magnaflow is better anyways LOL)
That sounds good if that with stock exhaust mainfold, stock Y-pipe and stock Cats. If you replace the stock exhaust system for Hooker long tube Headers, Hooker 3" Y-pipe with narrow high flow Cats and 80 series Flowmaster muffler will be louder enough and great idle sounds.
I used to have a Firebird at the 40 series wont fit for the F-bodies. The 40 series from flow master is set up for the Mustangs and other cars with true-dual.
Is that factory exhaust first?

lmfao mass air sensor is on the air intake has nothing to do with the exhaust newb
Avalanchepower1 2 years ago
Good choice
flowmaster is the best
But.. . if you still have Cat , it's going to Fry , slow you down , fry your massAir sensor and egr .
Cats Bad news chop them off
and Tips make a diff a Lot
get Long Fat Tips
Also cold air intake with steel wire mash cone filter makes your car sound much better
but to get some real performance Gain from it you have to get it Tuned for all the extra air and axhaust flow

You still get some power from a full cat-back system though, for those who can't afford the aftermarket headers and Y-pipe..

Ehhh Wrong. Flowmaster restricts flow. My buddies have shown me before and after dyno numbers on the same day.
josepy121380 3 years ago
