Not 100 % man... but i`d say 95%... that is really impressive, cause jethro stuff is way advanced... Also the way doane perry plays this song during the jazz festival in toronto is mind boggling... he adds a lot of more intricacy to the already complex stuff.
@haansgruber Thanks for your comment. Remember that this video is very old, I think three years now. Please check my other Tull videos, I'm not claiming they are perfect, but I think all of them are better than this one :)
I noticed a couple of spots to check out- The 'marching' snare figure should have BD's playing with hands in unison on the last 2 phrases. also, the final sextuplet fill at the end of the bridge(s) should be a L-R-BD or R-L-BD figure. Good effort, I liked the air drum-hi toms in last fill!!
@cheezruff Good to see you're paying attention to details! I actually do play the double bass drums with the hands, but it doesn't show OR hear very well in this video. And that's when I start losing control - it's not easy doing them both at the same time :)
@Wakinshaw Thanks for the comment, but how is this 'very far from the original'? I know I made a few mistakes, but very far? What do you mean exactly?
@Amund7 I mean, the drum on the original record is far more precise, far more complex and has far more fine parts that you don't play. For example check the part at 0:55. It is quite difficult to separate the strong stokes from the tremolo part in such a short delay (almost without delay).
@Wakinshaw Of course the drums on the original recording is far more precise. It is recorded in a professional (mobile) studio, with professional musicians. I recorded it in a stationary living room with a portable sound recorder and an amateur drummer.
@Amund7 Your job is still great on that one, but perhaps you should try easier songs, since a precise drum-dublication of "Hunting girl" is quite difficult even to the professional drummers. :)
Hehe takk.
This is one of my favorite Tull songs 'cause the drum part is so great. Nice job, and thanks for posting! I would like to jam with you some time, but I think you're probably on the other side of the pond. Keep jamming!
Thanks! Please check my rendition of Cold Wind to Valhalla, it's a lot better performance on my part. Don't ask me about drum equipment, especially digital.. I don't have a clue! PS. I know you are huge on Tull, I am an eager subscriber of your channel, fantastic stuff you're putting out!
excellent. i've been a tull fan for years. besides the sheer intellect in composition of the various pieces, i think of all the work that must've gone in them. watching the concentration on your face made me think of this and smile. it was all worth it. now, if you find that hunting girl, pull down them ridin' britches and go to town on her butt bro'! great job!
Either that, or I always look dumb when I play. In this clip I'm actually watching the waveform of the song, trying desperately to remember what comes next while I try to play the current notes correctly.. it's a great challenge!
Good job man! Just like Alitboazu said, Hunting Girl is a nightmare; I was considering covering it on drums but quickly dropped the project because I suck with double pedals... In fact Jethro Tull in general are a nightmare to cover; it's so damn complicated that you almost have no choice but to learn the song by heart, no chance of just trusting your instinct or logic!
Take a look at my videos if you will, I will soon upload my "Songs From The Wood" cover. :-)
Thank you. I am amazed at how much work it is to learn to play along a song like this. It took me a full day, and even then I could only play parts of it correctly, so this vid is made out of 4 or 5 clips. Gives me incredible respect for the people playing it perfectly, and even more so the people writing it.
Very good drumming. One of my favorfite Jethro Tull tunes. I'll send you my bass cover of this song.

The recording is a perfect take recording
Live is not, never is, unless you're neil peart
A good effort, I'd try to tighten that up a little but you already know that

:))) Funny. Nice try, but very far from the original. You should practice more on easier songs. This one of one of JT's hardest.

"NEI! Sh*t sh*t, take 2," klassisk!
