This is really lovely. I didn't know that L'Elisir d'Amore was in JK's repertory. But everyone, this was year 2000, and you must know that JK doesn't sound like this any more. His voice is no longer so high, thin, and clear. He has gotten much stronger, deeper, with more noble and tasteful timbre, but a lower tessitura. It is only natural as one gets older. To me he is definitely better now, more expressive and moving, but not necessarily a prettier sound.
This is the legacy that this leaving mr. Placido Domingo. He has wanted to sing everything (recording in studio) and this way he has made believe to the new generations of tenors that they can sing all. Already the light tenors do not exist, the lyric ones or the dramatists. Now all is right. Where are the bearded women, the crocodile childrens and the trapeze artists? Because you mr. Domingo has turned the world of the Opera into a CIRCUS. Thank you mr. Domingo.

@TheLeo939 Estimado, este gran tenor es LIRICO, que con el tiempo terminara cantando Puccini, Verdi, por ahora como la voz le da CANTA TODO, pero el tiempo lo obligara, a lo natural de su cuerda. Bellini, Donizetti, ....Rossini, le sera muy dificil. Pero ahora que la voz esta joven, seguro se atrevera a mucho, ojala que no dañe su voz.
@acitipo esta cantando trozos utilizando el falsete. Justo igualito que el maestro Krauss. Por que los jovenes de hoy lo quieren cantar todo?? Es que a ellos no les sirven los consejos de los grandes maestros como Krauss?? Uy que tonteria digo. Claro...ellos siguen el ejemplo que les ha dejado Domingo "cantandolo todo" (o mejor dicho "grabandolo todo"). Y NO SE DEBE CANTAR TODO si no quieres hacer el ridiculo...

El dia que Kaufmann empiece a cantar con su voz natural podra ser un gran tenor. No tengo duda de eso. Pero mientras siga haciendo engoladuras para oscurecer su voz tratando de imitar a Franco Corelli o a Mario Del Monaco siempre estara por debajo de ellos. Tienes que escuchar "e lucevan le stelle"· de Kaufmann...Horrible.

@voce29 No, i don't think so. Nobody knew about him, because his sings awful. And Nobody except you and his fans thinks he is the tenor "Par excellelence" as you say. He only has good body and is almost good looking
love that dark baritone color in his tenor voice. this man is a machine, he can go from singing lied to helden tenor roles.
