  • This is easy! All you need is some sticky pistons and redstone! XD

  • why not use voice command

  • Daft Punk music video quality sure has dropped.

  • Nice

  • This is fucking awesome. I want to build something like this but maybe with some cool frosted glass doors or something lol

  • Tutorial plz :D

  • u should make a video of how to make oe

  • Super cool man!

  • very nice job

  • Nice job :-) Just what I've been looking for.

  • Awesome! I wouldn't want it, but it's still impressive.

  • #MEWANTSIT!!!!!

  • How much does it cost to open the door? Just have to say that this is F*cking Awesome!

  • Will it stay closed if it's locked from the inside and the code is put in from the outside?

  • Now, if you could open the door via bluetooth on an iphone with an LCARS theme installed...

    That would be completely badass!

  • dude... im just... impressed... you just impressed the fuck out of me, sir you earned my respects.

I wanted to build a door just like this one, but then i took an arrow in the knee

  • what happens if there's a power surge when there's fire?

  • Pretty cool! Just one thing: if something gets in the way of the door, like YOUR HAND (eheh), would the door acknowledge that and stop? Furthermore, regarding the noise: if you want to enter after someone inside (wife for instance) fell asleep, wouldn't that be inconvenient?

  • @uiproductions does it have a saftey mechanism? like when you stay in the middle in those automatic mall doors it will retract

  • Love it but have you ever thought about installing a replica LCARS panel for the button

  • @austincox23 Might as well just throw your computer and your TV away too, you wouldn't want to worry about those breaking, or your kids surfing the dirty internet, or spending money on cable television.

  • @uiproductions Not necessarily, TV and the internet are pretty much essential in todays society because you need to hear about the news, etc...and you can always put parental settings on the computer. I feel like those things are a necessity, this thing is just unnecessary. Just my opinion, it's cool but just not somethin I would do. I'm more old school I guess.

  • @uiproductions You, sir, are a god. #vulcansalute

  • @austincox23 That awkward moment when someone misses the point.

  • @turtlehater2 Are you saying I missed the point? If so not at all. I know what he's saying, but why make something so simple like a door so high tech, possibly dangerous, and expensive when you don't have to? Just so people see it and are impressed by it?

  • @austincox23 It saves space, you can open it faster with less effort if you're carrying something, and it's just fun to show people. Never once have I thought it might be complicated, dangerous or expensive. I built it with a couple hundred dollars, and it's quite possibly the simplest mechanical and electrical device I've ever built. Maybe I just see the glass half full.

  • @uiproductions That's good for you it probably helps you in some way or is cool for you to have. My personal opinion I wouldn't really care to have one, but that's just me. Everyones different. You did what you wanted to do. I give you props.

  • By the way in your opinion what was the point?

  • @austincox23 the satisfaction of doing in it and having it while you dont maybe? yeah that might be his point on doing it

  • @Rodrigo00 No need to get fiesty. Are we all obligated to have the same opinion about this? No. I would get absolutley zero satisfaction out of having something like this so I don't know what your trying to say...

  • @austincox23 negative oppinions should be kept for yourself, otherwise they sound out of envy and end up looking bad.

  • @Rodrigo00 Why should I keep my opinion to myself? Should I just conform to your opinions? If I said I just bought a speedo would you guys all be entitled to say you like it? No, if you don't like something you can say you don't in a polite way. Too many conformists in the US these days.

  • @austincox23 Notice that in your comment YOU end up being a conformist, hell everytime someone does something cool, creative and hard there's someone making negative comments.

Tell me, why you buy better clothes, have a job and try to improve all the time, even in things that are not entirely basic.

Now a conformist comment like *what's the point of making this?" should be kept for yourself in sutuations like this because you end up like a douche.

  • @Rodrigo00 Not really because I am giving my true opinion. If you are giving your true opinion than you arent conforming either. Why don't we all have toilets that open and close themselves? Elevators in homes? Car doors that open up for us? How about we make a nation that is already incredibly obese, even more obese by having everything done for us? How is not agreeing with something in a polite way being a douche? Not everyone has to play along with your opinion.

  • @Rodrigo00 And once again that envy comment is your opinion. I don't believe I need to keep my negative comments to myself because thats my perception and no ones perception on the world can be proven wrong or right. We all have different opinions and perceive things differently, thats what makes the world fun to live in. Sorry I'm not a robot and just type what you want me to say. I have a mind of my own.

  • @austincox23 Buzz Killington

  • @austincox23 i agree, why not get rid of expensive and fragile cutlery, and eat our food with our mouths off the floor like a dog

  • @fairyheli2 Because eating is way more important than twisting a doorknob...

  • @austincox23 You must be thirsty, here, have some Haterade, it replenishes those electrolytes that are depleted when hatin on someone.

  • @ArthurAllblack Not hatin, just giving my opinion and sticking to it. I already said if he thinks it's cool than good for him that he did it.

  • @austincox23 Well, keep in mind, Trekkies take their Star Trek VERY seriously, so if you didn't know that already then you asked for it. I'm not a huge Star Trek fan myself, but I do respect the show and the technological achievements it helped conceive throughout the years.

  • @austincox23 The point is not being practical; the point is to simulate the door from star trek which he is clearly a fan of.

Life doesn't always have to be about practicality. You have missed the idea completely.

  • @turtlehater2 Apparently I have. You star trek nerds are very defensive. Wow!

  • @austincox23 I haven't even seen star trek but it doesn't take a genius to realize how awesome this.

  • @turtlehater2 To each their own.

  • Haha I like that only problem is when you GF sleep in your bed, you gotta go to the bathroom : PSHHHHHHHHHHHHHH, then she wake up and began to talk about stuff blabalbalba

  • good code .XD

  • nerd-vana...so bad ass

  • i am no fan of Startrek but I love this

  • I would probably opt for a quieter air compressor, but i love the idea. May have to get this in a home.

  • @shawn228642 part of the appeal is that that's practically the exact same noise the doors on the various starships make.

  • NOW I WANT ONE!

  • @ByShabby The door opens with air, but the air is controlled with electricity

  • Dats hella dope!!

  • Cool idea, but what happens when your power goes out?

  • @shogun678 Thats why there a control pannel with off switch to open the door manualy :)

  • Can you email the schematics and part list to build this?

  • Congratulations. Does your apartment have a dairy department too?

    Which aisle has the macaroni?

  • Your room looks awesome.

  • Real cool. If the room is too small for a motion sensor then maybe a floor pressure sensor would work better, similar to how old automatic doors worked. When a certain part of the floor near the door is stepped on, the door opens. Just a thought.

  • totally need these in my house...

  • woooha! first one to dislike. I only did it though cause im Jealous.

  • Would be cool to rig a motion sensor above the door so it opens automatically.

  • @uiproductions where did you get the air cylenders?

  • "i switch off this stuff blah blah and you can open it manually" BUT WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO!?! ITS SO FREAKING AWESOME

  • @dbeiswenger no power or if its malfunctioning.. things like that

  • Firstly, a GREAT video, I must say.

    A few questions though:

    1. Is it possible to add a dampening system, so that the doors could slow down before it whams with each other?

    2. IF you are stuck between two closing doors, what can you do?

    3. If I release only the air in the mechanism, can I open the doors in manual means? (I'm not so familiar with these mechanisms so please explain if you could)

BTW we will much appreciate if you make a tutorial of these kind of pneumatic doors.

  • so cool lol

  • Finally. I vid without dislikes

  • How's the power consumption?

  • When the door is locked, he should make it go like 'Access denied..' xD Lol

  • this guy could cure cancer to bad hes wasting that power on doors but ya tutorial would be good

  • nerds

  • Comment removed

  • lost in translation soundtrack ftw!

  • 1701 seems a good code

  • cool

  • What if you put the code in on the keypad and there is someone inside - can they still get out - or have you locked them in!?!

  • A bit too noisy maybe.

  • wooow thats amazing

  • Well this is awesome.

  • That's really Cool...!!

  • that door only needs a more futuristic look, but it's still unbelievably awesome

  • I love nerds.

  • that sound is badass

  • Please make tutorial!!! I have got to make one of these for my home!! Great stuff!

  • instructables - Air Powered Star Trek Style Door

  • @trekguyncc1701 *Frustrated Face Palm* Read the description!

  • @ReventonF22 Huh??

  • @trekguyncc1701 ...There's an Instructables link in the description as to how he constructed the door mechanism, modifications to the door, and the door frame...

  • @ReventonF22 Oh my GOSH! I never saw the "Show more" button under the video before! Thanks!!

  • @trekguyncc1701 It's all good. No problem... lol, just read the description every time.

  • genius! i think I'm in love with the creator ^_^

  • I want this door for every room in my dream house.

  • awesome

  • Thank you for posting this.

  • Funny that you used an Air song (Alone in Kyoto) at the beginning of this air-powered door video. :^)

  • Could have used less gay music

  • @hunter1801 Like the Star Trek Theme?

  • Really cool. If only I had time to make something like that, but school is very demanding. :(

  • At first I was like ... meh.

But after the video I was like WHOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!

  • Wow, this thing's incredible. If I was having a house built I'd totally have at least one room with this designed.

  • what if someone or something blocking the doors when its closing? is there a sensor to stop the door?

  • @agungsp2000 that's what I wanted to know. Is it safe?

  • @mooxim @agungsp2000 Air compresses so it's unlikely to cause any damage, same as when you stick your foot in a train door to stop it closing, doesn't hurt, but there's no mention if it will automatically back off if someone does try that.

  • .......wow. I'm throughly impressed!!!

  • 1-2-3-4, Incredible...that's the combination i have on my luggage!

Awesome build quality...i love it and i'm not even a trekkie.

  • @deereboy8400

    Love the Spaceballs reference.

  • I LOVE ITTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT

  • "Dammit Jim! I'm a gynecologist, not a miracle worker!"

  • Es buenísimo!! ;D

  • I quote Homer simpson " NEERRRDDD" jk, I'm a nerd too. Good job, all you need to do now is hook it up to your wifi and open it with your laptop.
