  • My primary goal is to make money. I'm sooooooo tired of being poor!!!!!:-)

  • @guyNbluejeans Filmmaking is a feast or famine business. The best ones make lots of money. The first person who bought Writing A Great Script Fast sold his first screenplay 4 months later for $600,000. Another guy got a million dollar film deal from Sony to make his next feature after his first 3D one won a festival. Lots of others are doing well too. The first thing any film money person will ask is "Do you have a great script?" Without a great story you have nothing to shoot or animate.

  • @MyFlik1 Thanks Much for the fast reply and much needed encouragement!!

I know everyone says this, BUT, I have a FABULOUS story in my head that will win every award out there and make me a billionaire many times over!!

At the moment, I'm about to pull the trigger on getting Movie Outline 3.1 to make it all happen. I was leaning towards MM6 but feel that this latest MO3 software is the best for my needs. I would GREATLY appreciate you giving me your thoughts on said program! I'll hold off buy..

  • @guyNbluejeans I've never used Movie Outline but I checked it out on Amazon and it sounds like what we are getting ready to post on MyFlik which is an interactive story engine and screenplay writer using the Writing A Great Script Fast process. It says on Amazon that the Movie Outline software gives you the hero journey plot points which I cover along with 10 other types. In my Writing A Great Script Fast DVD Workshop class you fill in your answers in a workbook then write the script fast.

  • @MyFlik1 Thanks for taking the time to check it out. The most recent update of Movie Outline has somewhere around 100 additional improvements, including being able to import to and from Final Draft. It also now allows one to see the whole screenplay and work on it that way via an option instead of being restricted to doing those things in the other format.

Btw, I'm not as cocky as some of my comments might suggest; just having fun and feeling pretty stoked about some light at the end of the...

  • @guyNbluejeans You sound like you work as a paid comment person by Microsoft! Anyhow good luck with your script and have fun with your new program.

One of the big reasons I like to spend so much time planning the story, is to avoid rewrites which I find quite painful. Some people just write a script with a few main plot points then spend 20 rewrites trying to weave all the other stuff they find out they need to have. Like something interesting happening every few seconds to shift emotions.

  • @MyFlik1@MyFlik1 ^scratching head^ Why do you say that I sound like a Microsoft employee (they have nothing to do with Movie Outline, insofar as I know)?

My suspicion is that there are as many methods and formulas to screenplay writing as there are human personalities. But that's not to suggest that some methods aren't better than others.

Bottomline is in the results, yes?:-)

  • @guyNbluejeans I thought I saw on Amazon that the software was a Microsoft product. You are just the first one to comment in 19 videos and three years on a software that you use for writing scripts, and you seem so into it and know so much about it. I hope you are just a very passionate writer and I wish you lots of good vibes and luck with your story! The main thing is writing a great script - which we both agree! I spent a lot of time writing scripts when I was young that did not work right.

  • @MyFlik1 Nuvotech is the software company, and I really know very little about it except for what I read on the Internet. I got it in yesterday's mail and will soon be checking it out on my computer, though my tech savvy is such that I worry a little that I'll either mess things up ... or not understand how to use it.

I thank you for wishing me good vibes and luck with my story.

I would be a liar if I said I was a "passionate" writer, as for now I'm just a guy with some ideas to run with... .

  • @MyFlik1 One other thing..... At Amazon Movie Outline sells for $138.70, while at the website of the manufacturer it sells for $200. But the thing is, at both places the box they show (that it comes in) says on it that it's the 3.0 version. I would like to know if I buy it at Amazon (to save some $) are they going to send me the much inferior version?

The 3.1 has many more upgrades and I absolutely want THAT one. Your thoughts on the matter, again, would be MUCH appreciated.

  • @guyNbluejeans I would email the company and ask if you can upgrade to the 3.1 version for free if you buy the Amazon one for 3.0.

Check out the longer version of Writing A Great Script Fast too since it teaches you how to tell a visual story while writing your script. There are literally 1000's of ideas you need to track and my workshop gives you 100's to choose from at each step. WAGSF costs $199 on MyFlik. Celtex makes a free screenwriting program for writing the final script. Good luck!

  • @MyFlik1 Thanks so much for your excellent input! I will be receiving on Friday a program called Movie Outline. Yesterday's research made me think that for my purposes said software would be great, especially this latest 3.1 version. The WAGSF sounds fabulous but will have to be put on hold for a while since I'm a little broke at the moment, but glad you told me about it!:-) For the movie I have in mind I have a lot of material so I don't anticipate having a problem in that regard. Can't wait!

  • @guyNbluejeans The screenwriting software is the last thing I think of when writing a script since I focus more on planning the invisible structure with Writing A Great Script Fast. There are so many things each scene needs to balance to get a good story ride. Most people get stuck in Act 2 not knowing quite where to go next or how to create a brilliant climax. I also like pen on paper better than typing and I have lots of old files I can no longer read from other screenwriting programs.

  • @MyFlik1 I understand that software is just a tool and that one has to put the work in to create a story. For many years I've had this story in my head, tweaking it here and there, so I expect to have it finished by the end of December (unless I have problems understanding how to use the software).

I whole heartedly agree with you about a story needing to move along and come to a resounding climax. My story is very solid in that regard!:-)

If this software makes writing a breeze, I plan to...

  • @guyNbluejeans CONTINUED: .. give wasting time the boot and create LOTS of screenplays, including two or three more sequels to the one mentioned. All in all it sounds like great fun and considering all the garbage I see on TV and at the theater it will be an exciting challenge to use my creativity to see if I can get some of that big cash out there to flow my way!:-)

  • @guyNbluejeans Everyone needs to find what works best for their own writing process. I find writing on the computer and planning my story on the computer to be very draining. I like a 3 ring binder with my WAGSF Workbook to add pictures to and extra pages. If you do computer animation or filmmaking, you do not want to use your hands for too much typing since it hurts your wrists. I type the 40 plot points, then treatment but do the rest by pen and paper and only type again for the final script.

  • @MyFlik1 I bought an expensive pen a while back thinking that it would be great fun to sit in a chair with a legal pad and whip out reams of good stuff. The only problem was/is that my nerves are so shot that thoughts in my mind don't transfer well through my arm and hand and into the pen, thus an embarrassing disaster occurs when the ink hits the paper.:-(

Glad to know that you're adroit in your penmanship abilities.*s*

  • @guyNbluejeans Typing hurts my hands and body way more than using a pen and paper. I can work on a story for hours with a pen and paper but only maybe and hour or two typing. Film is a visual art and I like to draw ideas for wow shots and sets and character poses while writing the script. Everyone has their own way of doing things. People get so stuck on what software to use they seem to miss the creative part sometimes. I like touching paper, clipping out pictures and making film worlds.

  • @MyFlik1 Since you enjoy writing via the old fashioned way, you might be interested to know that if you go to Walmart or Office Max or some such place, you can for around $5.00 pick yourself up a pen called a Zebra F-301 BP that I've found doesn't have the propensity to clog-up. Pens that force one to have to scribble to get them to issue ink have always been one of my pet peeves, and so I just thought I'd pass the info on to you.:-)

  • @MyFlik1 Also, the folks at Movie Outline wrote me back saying that the stuff sold on Amazon is in fact the latest software, FYI.:-)

I can't wait to become a billionaire! Yeeehhhaaaaaaw!

  • if u r the women who's talking on the vid, u realy look friendly n.n and thanx 4 the vids everything its so dif. but u make it look easy n.n

  • I really do love this clip.

  • greatest screenwriting guide i've watch on the internet, really and i have watch many

  • these explanation videos are great but the sounds form background videos tend to be annoying...

  • Glad you like the videos - lots more coming soon!

Do you mean the sounds from the background music track or the other videos overlapping? There are some slight sound issues with the voice track. Thanks for the feedback - I will take it into consideration during any redos.

  • yes i was talking about the sounds from the background music, sometimes it just gets in the way of your talking. And there are moments where the music gets a bit too loud comparing to your voice...but overall the videos are great and very very very helpful. thank you!!!

  • Thanks again for the feedback. I get what you are saying. The background music track is actually helping to mask a buzzing noise in the main vocal track we could not remove very well in post. And the sound levels are a little too high on the music in places. The new movies I am starting to post now may sound better since the compression is higher quality. Good ears!

  • Amazon and MyFlik are now selling the 20 hour Writing A Great Script Fast DVD Workshop with the 300 page Workbook for about $200 to $400 depending on how you buy it. Without a great story you have nothing to shoot! To take this class at the art school I use to teach at would cost about $2500.

  • thanks so much 4 this advice :) great video !!

  • all writers have different goals while writing a script, so how can you say every writers goal is the same? You also state that a strong emotional connection with the audience makes a great script, yet you get films like Titanic which is heartbreaking yet features a god awful script.

  • Titanic was one of the most sucessful films ever made because of the strong emotional connections - even though the script was a bit weak it worked well enough to break a bunch of box office records. think of your favorite films and you will find strong emotional connections.

  • Wow this is real great advice! this is inspiring me to write a new story!

  • Awsome
