  • Always a pleasure to hear other talented musicians play Dead music. Makes one appreciate both bands much more. Hard to understand why more bands have not chosen to play Dead songs. Maybe it is to daunting, But there is always room for new interpretations.

  • Good work Guy's! loved every note, Jerry,Brent,Pig,Keith And the dead are all proud!:P

  • I think it is crazy to say no other band comes close to the GD. I've logged thousands of hours of GD time from the worst mic recordings to the best soundboards and I think I can honestly say that the one and only thing I never like about the GD was the prejudgments of the DH's. Yes, they were a jewel, but so was the John Coltrane Quartet and you don't hear people whining about them being broken up. Anyway, I don't think Jerry ever wanted people to worship them like people did. Ask Bob W...

  • @gwarejko The difference between Coltrane and GD comes down to the way in which lifestyles were affected. For lack of a better term, the "scene" that sprung up from the Dead was part of what brought on the worshipping. I can to some extent understand it, but since I was 10 when Jerry died I'm just projecting what my own musical experiences led me to. Phish was a life changing band for me in the sense that GD was for many people, but they aren't the best music I listen to by any stretch.

  • LOL this is definitely NOT a picture of the Greek Theater.

Cool of DMB to play Eye I guess, but quite frankly, mostly this just causes me to remember how stellar The Grateful Dead & Jerry were--no other band even comes close . . .

  • yeah.. definitely the Gorge.. one of the most kickass venues in the world.. although you have to walk your ass off there..

  • Best venue EVER! I saw Phish there in 97, 98, and 99.

  • beautiful!!!!!!!

  • oh man, boyd just sounds phenomenal on this one. can't believe i hadnt taken the time to listen to this conver until now, but job well done boys and RIP Jerry.

  • Brilliant..!

  • The ultimate show would have been Dave opening for the Dead then jamming together at the end.

  • @gam44es They did open for the Dead in May of '95, and Carter guested on Drums>Space

  • does anyone know where i can find this on audio>

  • This was at The Greek Theatre In Berkeley Ca 8-11-95 I was there!!

  • Listening to the music and looking at the photo brings me back to the gorge..... what a week

  • anyone know where i can find this on audio??

  • so sick man. i never expected to hear this from dave.

  • yeah this was only two days after jerry died. i respect it too real good

  • dave kinda sounds like eddie vedder at times

  • listen to timebomb. sounds just like EV

  • Nice, I've had this on my Ipod for years but it cuts out 3-4 minutes in, here's the full version finally.

How many times has Dave covered this?

  • This was the only time...so far.

  • @Azaremba1 one time that I know of.

  • This is excellent. i have an old audio recording of this and was hoping to find this here so i can share w others. Thanks so much. BTW, this is one of the most amazing cover performances ever. It was their first & only time and they nailed it so well. It's so rich w/ emotion.

  • wow......

  • AMAZING! i've been searching for this recording for about a year (well, a couple nights spent searching over about a year's time)

  • what does dave say near the end

  • Actually a really good cover of this classic Dead tune, stunned :)

  • This is awesome. Great cover and honour to Garcia. I wish dave would do more dead covers hes good at them

  • @realdeadhead16 May I ask why?

  • this is awesome

does anyone know where i could download this?

  • This is a great version of this song. The #41 played this concert was unbelievable too. They go back into Eyes of The World during Recently!!!!

    Very Nice!

  • What venue is the picture in the video of, Gorge? Thank You.

  • I'm pretty sure that's correct

  • @JayBTV nope, thats sasquatch

  • @monrizo123 Same thing. (Never heard of Sasquatch but that's the name of a festival at the Gorge). Sucks they added a tarp over it.......went there last year and was disappointed not being able to see through it. From a google search: The Gorge Amphitheatre is an outdoor venue near the Columbia River located in George, Washington. It is a nine time winner of Pollstar Magazine‘s award for Best Outdoor Music Venue, and where the annual Sasquatch Music Festival is held.

  • @JayBTV Thanks for sharing that. I live in NY and I've only been able to travel to VA, MA, CT & NY for 8 concerts. Its my dream to take a Winnie and travel along their tour, the Gorge would be my #1 place I had to go. To be sitting on a mountain side looking down and out at such massive openness while DMB lifts you up to float on the stars, it doesn't get much better than that. And then of course they top that expectation. Amaaaaazing! Thanks

  • @monrizo123

that is The Gorge in Washington! Gorgeous venue...

  • the Gorge...best place ive ever seen a concert(Phish)!!!

  • Wow, thanks JayBTV, oh boy you come up with some incredible stuff. Keep'em coming.
