  • i prefer this than the m16 . it is less bulky and it has a laser scope

  • Hope its in Modern Warfare 3!

  • it looks just like a steyr aug but has a lower rate of fire

  • I hate SAR 21.. i rather fire an M16.. But i love the GMPG (although is cause alot of faults).

  • I too prefer the M16 dude.. But i dun hate the gun.. It's pretty cool.. :D

  • well, i'll say this for STK: they can't advertise.

and while their stuff works, other than the SAR, the rest of their products look fugly.

  • Lesson learnt from the IDF after 1967: don't depend on foreign states to supply your weapon needs if your army is likely to win. After any war, the victor usually ends up being seen as the aggressor and loses the moral high ground. The US imposed a partial arms embargo on Israel resulting in the need for the IDF to develop their own arms industry. Hence, better to do that now and learn from mistakes in peacetime than when its too late.

  • i think this rifle is awesome. I mean i am an NCC guy and when i go spec course, i would have to learn inside dept of SAR 21 and the M-16. i would have to shoot both weapons and clean it. i think this awesome because unlike the m 16 it is shorter.

  • Anyway, buck for buck, I bet my life on a M4 carbine anytime. Trust me boys. Been there done that, 13 years in all.

  • what's short doesn't mean it's good. The M-16 family M-4 is even shorter.

  • The AR-15, forerunner of M16(if you remember,designed in '64) took 30yrs to evolve to M4 and 40yrs in the HK416's case.

  • The CG of SAR is slightly fwd at the frontal stock,i.e less ergonomical to use.M16 series have a well-positioned CG above the pistol grip, with superb balance both during firing as well as single-hand carriage when you need to work on the mag pouches with the non-master hand,eg during changing of mags etc. This M16 trait is slightly compromised should additional accessories be added to the barrel(laser etc)as they throw the CG off.Picatilly solved the problem, as does the new M4 foregrip handle.

  • With the M16 series lower receiver grp, changing of mags is considerably much easier to remedy:bolt to the rear signals you to release the empty mag with your right index(a bonus: trigger finger out as well!)finger while the left hand almost simultaneously slap in a fresh mag.Slap the ease spring catch to chamber a new rd.We practiced reloading in less than 2 sec.

  • Allow me.There'd been lots of comparison b/w the SAR and the M16 series.I used both for more than a decade. SAR has its advantages, namely the built-in sight, which makes aiming a breeze. However, the circular reticule is a bit too thick and that makes subsequent tgt acquisition difficult if they are at 200m with fig 15 size. The reticule may obstruct the other tgt even if the fist is in the bull. This matters a lot in reactional shoot where we'd to shift from tgt to tgt in rapid firing sequence.

  • It is like a perfected AUG.

  • just dun be so unlucky n stand so near on the right hand side behind the weapon n u will be fine lol...

  • I LOVE SINGAPORE!!! Majulah Singapura!

  • SAR should represent Speed,Accurancy and Reliability. The SAR 21 should be called A21 instead because it only has one out of the 3 components.M16 was a good rifle at its time.now the difficult maintainence of it and the fragility can cause it to lose its glory.HK416 is a very reliable weapon u can throw it in the water, mud or sand(worst enemy) it still operates smoothly.the m16 chamber will explode if water gets in it and u fire it.

  • the US military's stand is clear.they do not use bullpup rifles.thats y they are considering about the HK416 rather than AUG,tavor,L85A1,FAMAS etc.and since history all the standard issue rifles in the US military(marines, army, navy seals etc)are classic m16 design because the design really feels natural in hand(mag release, fire mode selector etc) and this means they are able to operate the rifle much quicker.they will not sacrifice speed for a bullpup rifle.

  • the sar 21 is made up from the front portion of L85A1 and back part from AUG with some small modifications such as the LAD,ambidextrous charging handle, polymer mag etc.singapore has to use this rifle because they made it and it makes no sense to use other countries(better) rifles such as the HK416(very amazing).bullpup technology is crap, besides making the rifle shorter and better CG, the rest are all problems and disadvantages.other countries are wanting to switch back to classics.

  • well. i dont know why people are so amazed by the HK416, yea it is one of the best weapons out there. but there are even better wpns. yes, it can withstand mud, sand, dirt, and reduces carbon fouling.BUT. so many other rifles have done the same. bullpup technology is crap?lol nah, it just isnt refined.remember when conventional assault rifles first came out, they were crap too. bullpup is smart. saves space... increases accuracy. i dont see why we should sacrifice that for better comfort and feel

  • besides the adavantages u've mentioned, HK416 keeps the bolt cool as well.its contradicting aint it?u said that HK416 is only one of best and there are better weapons but its ranked first in your favourite firearms list (: lets not deny that HK416 is great. but i understand that its not cheap.

  • its in my 1 spot coz its H&K, and it beats colt m4 and looks as cool as m4.

no doubt hk416 is clean and cool... but dont u know several other models can do the same. i just admire how hk416 solves most of m16 series's problems

  • haha.yes i agree with you that bullpups are more accurate as they are more balanced and is easier to control BUT the shorter barrel means that ur ears are closer to the muzzle blast.over sustained period of shooting in warfare environment w/o earplugs, u can say bye-bye to your hearing(:

  • nah actually its sound is just okay... not really that bad to hearing. but of course wif any firearm, earplugs help

  • in war, u dun wear ear plugs as i said. can u name same models that can do the same?

  • THAT is a good point to bring up that rarely surfaces! However that problem could be easily solved by either a silencer or one earplug in the ear closest to the rifle.

  • aha. i do hope they will invent a suppressor for the SAR 21.

  • Kick the M16's ass out of the SAF with this gun.

  • hahahah. ambidextrous charging handle, im sure lefties would appretiate the bullet casing being ejected on the other side more then the charging handle.

  • singapore army does not allow us to take video cameras in, the sar 21 is also not sold elsewhere, so nobody outside the SAF can understand how bad this gun is. trust me.

  • my fellow singaporeans, look at all the other great guns out there, and they will change the way u see the SAR21. look at AK74,AK47,101,105, Heckler and Koch G3, G36,Mp5,XM8, and HK416. Colts M4 carbine, Steyr AUG(a much better bullpup),Galil, FN FAL, SCAR-L. and MANY MANY MORE AFT LOOKING AT THEM, you WILL! come back and tell comment on this video that the SAR21 is a shitty gun.

  • yes its a cheap piece of SH*t. u fire it, yes it is very accurate, but it is DEFINITELY not reliable. Id SWAP my SAR21 for an AK74 ,g3,or M4 anyday.its built is fragile, lousier than the Steyr AUG. Reloading is very very uncomfortable, your arms seem to get in the way all the time.

  • Not an M4. Rather get a H&K 416, they confirm save ur life sia

  • 6.being told by instructors that it is a "right-handed only" weapon and left-handed soldiers having to fire with their right hand.

7.iron sights that chipped off easily when weapon was dropped.

    8.frequent jamming

  • s'pore soldiers have these complaints:

1.the awkward position of the magazine well, and the difficulty in changing magazines, requiring multiple hand changes.

2.the awkward position of the fire selector (located at the butt, with the action), as opposed to the thumb selector on the M16.

3.the sluggish trigger pull compared with the crisp trigger of the M16.

    4.weight of the weapon

5.increased muzzle blast volume, due to muzzle being nearer to shooter's ears.

  • looks easier to assemble/dismantle than m16

  • Sar21,A true weapon.Best suited for both long range and close range.

Rifles like this are really the best.

It has the Aug design but its mechanism is much lighter.

Just like the kalashnikov, its the same weapon but different advantage and aiming points!

    Truely a remarkable weapon.

  • Sorry, but no, Bullpups feel crappy, cheap plastics are not a substitute to gun metal, and NO! dont insult the Kalashnikhov butcomparing it with SG armys piece of crap. BTW, have u fired it before?????

  • Bullpup rifles are designed for urban warfare. It is childish to say "metal" guns are "superior" to plastic guns. They all have their own advantages and disadvantages

  • nah, bullpups are nt designed for urban warfare... they are designed to put more barrel into a gun, to make efficint use of the space.

second thing, you obviously misunderstood the meaning of a bullpup gun.. the name does not have any relation to the extensive use of materials, but actually points to the type of configuration of a gun where the trigger is placed in front of the magazine ,and the action behind the trigger..... do ur homework buddy.

  • looks like an AUG but it isnt. Newer guns like AUG, this, Tavor, G36, XM8 etc. are all made of plastic. Makes it light :)

  • its heavier than m16s1...but the balance makes it feel lighter!

  • yup m16 weight only 2.9 kg

  • what...why is my comment getting negative handsigns..i did use it during my NS u noe...

  • i removed ur nagative hand sign, chill; alrite?

  • Its not a AUG... it just looks similar cause of the polycarb mag and the scope. Fired the SA80, M16 and SAR21, and this baby has great balance and really low recoil. Target aquisition with the scope and the recoil meant that I was hitting at 100m 4 targets within 2 secs. No way could I do that with iron sights! Not even a carbine with a reflex sight.... literally point and shoot, no marksmanship required!

  • The STK SAR-21 is actually a shared design among three countries: Israel (TAVOR TAR-21), South Africa (Vector CR-21) & Singapore. Singapore's version incorporates a Steyr AUG-style 1.5x telescopic sight. All three countries' rifles differ slightly aesthetically but are the same basic mechanics internally. IL, SA & SG have been traditional allies as they share many common traits, namely being surrounded by hostile or potentially hostile governments.

  • I checked it out and it actually has some mechanical changes maybe improvements.

  • Yeah but its not amvidextrous or whatever its called cos the bullet cas comes out on the right side.

  • the bullet case is designed to be ejected forward, which was a problem for the previous main weapon, M16A1. So for left hand users, they need not worry abt the case hitting their face. Therefore the sar 21 dun need a metal deflector, unlike a M16A1 for left hand users.

  • quite a bit of difference. . . It's the same bullpup design. But it uses a kalashnikov firing mechanism, gas actuated rotating bolt. And i think there are more Sar variants

  • just cause its a bullpup doesnt make it an aug prick!

  • lol! I guess it's just how these kids have learned to identify weapons :D

    multi-barrel gatling-type = minigun

    mag inside grip = uzi

bullpup with integrated optics = AUG

  • yup. just caused they have played cs.

  • Looks like a cross between Austria's Steyr and the British Enfield L85A1..

  • Dude it has actually the AUG design pretty much.

  • ITS COMPLETELY DIFFERENT

  • just ask any professional SAF Commando what they feel about this weapon, and you will get the answer.

  • What do they say?

  • I'm proud being a Singaporean, how do you feel, RayZR6?

  • does the chinese use sar-21?

  • No, they have the crappy QBZ.

  • Besides, their safety system in case of catastrophic failure would be directly in the face of a left-handed person. They should have put the charging handle on the left side and either:

    a) Taught the men to fire using their right hand.

    b) Let left-handed people use the rifle with the charging handle on the left side. It isn't THAT difficult to tilt the rifle to the right and use the right hand to pull the charging handle.

  • steyr aug is 100000 times better

  • I disagree, actually. The SAR-21 is safer and easier to take apart than the Steyr Aug. The only thing I'd want from the Steyr Aug on the SAR-21 is the charging handle's right-hand orientation (it's found on the left side of the rifle). The system they've used on the SAR-21 for a more ambidextrous design is flawed. First, it takes a little bit longer and a bit of getting used to to remember to hit that little tab before pulling. Also, it makes it difficult to mount a Picatinny rail.

  • You forgot the AUG's barrel change feature (brilliant) but otherwise I agree.
