@Decodermusic It has never occurred to me as an aspiration before, but I cherish that I have been dubbed "cheeky" twice for this video! My understanding of the word leads me to believe that it is in every way appropriate to me, so I am glad that it has now been ratified! I love Limeys, so please don't take too much offense!
AWESOME TUTE! Thanx. Ive been a pro muso for years, but am new to the electronic side of the stage and loving iPad as a new musical/sound interface. Been looking for a decent overview of this app all week and found this. Keep up the great work, looking forward to the other tubes.
@GregoryGlamour LOL No, that's a patch I made. It is actually Warf, Son of Mohg, but it is pronounced the same way as Moog so I threw that in there for Trek nerds.
it seems pretty cool but I am finding it a bit challenging to operate on my ipod . Im sure like most music apps its easier and funner on an ipad , oh well .
@warrior152 With the Copy button at the bottom of the recording panel, which puts it in the General PasteBoard (not AudioCopy), for import into other apps that support it.
Or if you want to get it onto your computer that recording is saved as a clipboard.wav file (again, only when you hit the Copy button) which you can grab through iTunes file sharing.
@chachilin95 With Envelopes. You're in luck, I just posted a video that shows how to use Envelopes in Animoog! Check out my video Everyone Can Play Music #10: Envelopes in Sound Design.
Ok when you play one of the presets and let go if they key, it still plays til it finishes... How can you do that for a new preset? A newly created one
Thanks Discchord! I generally prefer my tutorials in written form. You've presented this really well, you're pleasant to listen to, and the pace was spot on to allow me to follow without having to pause the video constantly - only occasionally to allow me to have a bit of a play. Can't wait to show a few friends, and I've now found a good excuse to buy a nice little set of portable speakers for my iPad =)
Im trying to copy audio from animoog to hakusai and its not working. Im new to both apps and i was wondering if u can show a video of exactly how or try to explain it to me, hakusai just says theres nothing to paste after i record and copy something from animoog, help please
@failureisepic In Hokusai, make sure you're scrolling all the way to the bottom of the paste dialog. There will be a "General Pasteboard" option at the very bottom. You have to use that because Animoog is not using AudioCopy/Paste (ACP). It gets into Hokusai just fine though. I just tested it to be sure; sounds good too!
@Discchord I'm sorry, I'm still pretty confused. I understand what you mean but, how do i get to the paste dialog? Im in a blank project with an add new track box and the only options are record, paste, create, import, dropbox. The paste option is in grey instead of black so i cant use the function.
@failureisepic Oh, that is a "Pro" feature. You need to do the In-App Purchase to use any of the grey stuff. It's $10 for everything, and I think it is about $3 for the Copy/Paste. I think it is well worth it if you have a lot of apps that you want to work together. I demonstrated it a little bit in my review of BeatMaker 2 if you want to see it in action.
@failureisepic Depends on what you're trying to then import the exports into. Several apps like GarageBand and BeatMaker 2 will take a Pasteboard straight from Animoog. If you're jailbroken you can grab the file manually in your application folder's /Documents/clipboard.wav ... which is easily done with iFile, but that costs $5 so you're probably better off with Hokusai.
@Discchord Alright, sounds reasonable. Your referring to garageband for ipad correct? I have the mac version but, that doesn't seem like it'll do me any good. And I'm not jailbroken. Thanks for all the help.
@failureisepic Oh, if you can connect your iPad to your computer then you can easily grab the clipboard.wav through iTunes file sharing. In iTunes select your iPad then hit Apps on the menu at the top of the screen. Now at the bottom is File Sharing. Select Animoog and you should see clipboard.wav! If you cannot connect your iPad to your computer, or want to do things remotely over the internet, then Hoksuai to DropBox is your best bet.
@Discchord Is this possible with an Ipod touch as well, I bought animoog and went to the apps tab like you said but it does not seem to be under file sharing?
@zgress , yes, except that it doesn't have an 'n' in it, not even in the sound (not a conventional 'n' as you've printed there, anyway. Midway between "'TAM breh" and "'TAHM breh", with the accent on the first syllable, is about the closest I can get to it using ordinary letters and taking in both sides of the Atlantic. My parents were French speakers so I grew up with these sounds.
For the benefit of the poster of this video, it means, 'tonal character'.
Cheeky sod! Not ALL of us brits are mispronouncing the name. Please, great tutorial but dont disrespect us?
