i respect your comment sir. but according to my reliable soures, XU is the first university in mindanao and it has long erected its high respected profile in philippine education. and u add that ADMU is the first jesuit univ, well ADMU just celebrated its 150th anniversary as Ateneo who is a jesuit university but XU made its first inauguration as a Jesuit university in the philippines even though Ateneo de Manila started the first ATENEO in the country. Well i guess i made myself clear sir.

FYI, Ateneo de Cagayan first gained the University charter a year ahead of Ateneo de Manila, therefore the distinction of being the first Ateneo to become a University.Although the ateneo sub-name was retained,since then it was formally introduced as Xavier University-Ateneo de Cagayan in honor of the great Jesuit saint, Francis Xavier.Veritas Liberabit Vos (The Trith Shall Set You Free), is the school's motto.

@guyliker yes, adzu ang FIRST ATENEO sa mindanao (it will 100 years old by 2012), but XU-ADC and first JESUIT UNIVERSITY sa Philippines one year ahead sa ADMU..di sila talaga ateneo in its very strict sense kahit na ang complete name eh XAVIER UNIVERSITY-ATENEO de CAGAYAN cause the father-president that time prayed to St. Francis Xavier to help the school attain university status, and once na mangyari un the university will be bamed after him,.

@accountancytiger Ateneo de Zamboanga is the first Ateneo in Mindanao, but it was Xavier that earned the university distinction first, even ahead of Ateneo de Manila. Ateneo de Cagayan was rechristened as Xavier University in honor of the Jesuit Saint St. Francis Xavier during his feast day- the day also the school was granted the university status. Being named as XU doesn't make it less of an Ateneo. There were attempts to revert to the old Ateneo de Cagayan name, but it was shot down.
