  • Just a terrific performance. I listen to this tune when I start to forget what being in a real relationship is. Alternating moments of "trouble me" and I will carry the burden

  • her voice is like a smooth soft siren, i wonder if she speaks another language it sounds like she has an accent, but i cant grasp it. like when a brit sings and then they speak and then the accent is thicker. she is a real beauty!!!!!

  • Jeez, Robert Buck young and healthy. Great guitarist and sadly missed.

  • @scouse589 What happened to Robert Buck?

  • Why does Natalie remind me of Nicolette Larson?

  • She looks like Sirhan Sirhan's "lady in the polka dot dress". Chuckling means you don't know that Sirhan's lady, dismissed at first, has actually been found by exhaustive search in archival footage from that night. He wasn't lying. And Natalie does very much resemble that lady, whom Sirhan has always claimed, "took [him] to a very dark place."

  • @33rdPatriot ???

  • Who has a better voice Natalie or Madonna?

  • @raydogg27 BOTH ARE GOOD--WHY COMPARE? LoveUGodBless, T and J KABBALAH MATTHEWSHEPARD MADONNALICIOUS

  • Sweet sicilian girl

  • Natalie you are an original. you ooze the best of New York late night smoke filled warholian dens.

  • ¡Estoy sencillamente enamorada de la Natalie Merchant... por favor, que voz tan maravillosa, me FASCINA!

  • The version she does on David Letterman with a back up singer who I dont of is simply............................without words.

  • Such an apparently obvious message, but with so many subtle subtexts. :D

  • SHE IS THE VERY BEST FEMALE SINGER IVE EVER HEARD. WHERE IS THE REST OF UNPLUGGED?

  • @dispatchsm... She has great legs.

  • i love her voice and music. She's seems a little liberal for me, i'm a political conservative but politics aside she's probably the best female performer of the 80's/90's. She had a certain sophistication about her as well as beauty

  • HAUNTING!!

  • my favorite song! she has a very sensual voice.

  • @BookLoverforLife Me2. Didn't realize it was my favorite until I filled out one of those lists and had to think.

  • thanks for the video beautiful i love natalie

  • I absolutely love Natalie's voice.. so soothing. I would have to rate her as my favorite female vocalist. This song takes me back to my first true love.. summer of 89.. we bought Blind Man's Zoo and wore it out. Just an innocent time.. jeans with torn knees, peace symbol necklaces and blue John Lennon sunglasses.. lazy summer days just lounging in a park and listening to Natalie croon with the maniacs.. it was a wonderful time in my life and every time I hear this song it takes me right back.

  • Natalie is one of the few artists that manage to make her live preformance better than the studio recording...

  • ...i lke dots...i like the fabric. Natalie Merchant

    is a pro!!!

  • Sexy!

  • I love Natalie.. She's such an amazing artist. <333

  • As a "music theorist" I'd say she achieves her special emotional impact by refusing to hold her pitch, in particular descending the last note at end of each phrase. I recall Annie Haslam doing that occasionally in Renaissance.

  • interesting ! who is your favorite singer ?

  • Jon Anderson for shear musicality in his singing and possibly Andrea Bocelli for the perfect tonality of his voice.

  • Brunogirl, right on, I think she knows exactly what her unique instrument can do to thousands at a clip. Nats one of a kind voice is a contralto version of david lee roth or axle rose for example. I've been awed by her music recently, utube's a modern marvel, allways loved Wonder and saw her unplugged at Shaker Heritage. Kinda sad that I missed something not seeing her live in her stage presence prime. A music theorist probably can point out what we instinctively know is there by listening.

  • Natalie Merchant?

  • That woman can flat-out wail. I saw them live in 1988 in a college basketball arena, opening for REM and the place was, like, electric. Her voice blasted the roof off the place, she knows how to hit just the right notes with force, to get reverb off the walls and the rafters.

  • @Brunogirlfriend - That must have been awesome. It sure sounds like it.

  • I saw her at navy pier in chicago, outdoor, acoustic - best show ever. Brought a chill to my soul. So awesome. Can only imagine partnering with REM. Amazing performers - amazing talents. U have great taste :-)

  • Natalie Mercante , sweet special italian girl

  • Lovely version of a lovely song.

  • She doesn't need to be surrounded by glitz and doesn't need to show her belly button and boobs, because she is actually talented.

  • @scola91660 Natalie's performance clothes remind me of singers from the 1930's and 1940's. She evokes memories of a more understated time.

  • I can't write now I'am too overwhelmed

by Natalie . bye then. Das

  • I miss when those flowery dresses were in style in the early 90s. I loved that look!

  • TOTALY agree with juancam, a true DIVA

  • Natalie is a real ARTIST.

She doesn't need designer clothes, sexy dancers, complicated coreographies to be a real DIVA.

  • A FKN MEN TOO THAT

  • whats wrong with you man. She's a beautiful person.

  • Yeah because every woman on the planet is 5'11 and weighs 115 lbs.

  • "crushed on her"? ..what's she doing, stripping? ah,,police state society...passion lacks in music these days..

  • I crushed on her BAD back in High School... Damn good music.

  • I love her lips.

  • Saw these in Sheffield some years ago. We turned up a little late and they were half way through Peace Train.

This, and What's The Matter Here are my favourite tracks.

  • I love her voice, she is one of the greatest singer

  • Yes I know. Natalie wanted more space around the mike and Robert wanted doghnuts in his ears during swimming lessons in the police car park's swimming boots. Then the fish couldn't get onto the chicken barbecue without help from the armies fishermen so it all fell appart in acrimony. Sad but true.

  • I saw this girl in England in the eighties.....my girlfriend took me to see her when I had never even heard of her. I wasn't massively impressed at the time ( although I liked her) but I have since realized how good she is.

  • lol forgot the words

  • she looks like Mazzy Star

  • oh, no! she fumbled the lyrics near the end. BTW to you guys i made a guitar hero chart on 10,000 maniacs, sort of a tribute.

  • I saw the original maniacs twice in savannah. both times, in the front row, and talked to them before the performances. very nice people.

  • I saw the maniacs live 2 times in Detroit. At the State Theater, Jerome, on the drums, absolutely brought the house down!

  • what a great voice...

  • she looks like she is covered in stars.

  • She is so beautiful,

    my sweet lil' Natalie!

This is my life your head up song!

    Sexy 80s'd out Natalie!

  • Trouble Me genialll!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Anyone know why Nat and Robert split musically? They were so good together!

  • Mr. Wilsparky.

Hilarious and psychodelic or / and surreal.... Brilliant.

  • dont sweat the dance its just movement this song makes me want to visit a nursing home and be nice to everyone there

  • " Got a little nervous"!!??... Natalie?, she´s a soul of goodness for all of us in this mundane place. She´s not even been aware of what people may think. She´s not like me or you. She floats like she dance.

  • Hehe, cute little stumble with the lyrics on the last part. Natalie probably got a bit nervous on live tv, but her voice is still solid as a rock! I love you, Natalie!!!! But I'm still not so keen on her dancing. :)

  • "But I'm still not so keen on her dancing." you should her dance in the other video I got, she does her a number on that one.=)

  • @ironian -her barefoot boogie on 'carnival' live version could wake the dead

  • @ironian thats why she is so cute...miss a line, ...she didn't skip a beat after that

  • @ironian be nice she rocks thx LoveUGodBless, T and J KABBALAH MATTHEWSHEPARD MADONNALCIOUS
