  • any one lives in watford

  • Amazing video. Any idea on how the fire started ?

  • It doesn't appear to me that the hydrant was flushed! It looks like he didn't connect the soft suction properly at the quick release coupling and it blew off. I also can't see why he was worried about it anyway as that should be a job for the second appliance driver. He has 1800L of water in the tank for the early stages.

  • why wasnt hosereel applied through the lounge windows sorry guys but this was far to slow before water was applied ..thats why we carry high pressure hose reels for instant use on attacking theses fires ...........!!

  • @freyabueller18 Because throwing a high pressure jet through the lounge window only going to en-train air worsening conditions inside for the committing crew, you say 'we carry hose reels so i presume you are suggesting your a FF and therefore you should know this from fire behavior training + 1800 on 45mm is not going to last long so he is doing the righht thing even if a 2nd app is on the way...they could even if unlikely become delayed in traffic ect so securing water supply is most important

  • @treborf18 I don't think he is doing the right thing! No point in worrying about water supply until your means of delivery are all setup. At the point of setting in 2 soft suctions the only delivery is the 45 covering jet which isn't much use to the BA team. They could have course been using the hosereel from the 2nd pump which is stuck in traffic! I have never been on an incident when the driver/pump operator of the 1st pump worries about water supply before the delivery is in place.

  • Those pedestrians are too close to the fire scene...

  • This is a great catch! This is why emergency services need to be payed more than footballers..

  • @lenny999100

Pump operator is doubling up as ECO at 1.48 You can se the board on the back of the pump bay door!

  • 6:17

Dont worry mate just drive over me hose

  • Nice stop guys!

  • very good lads but

    1.were was the B A C O

    2. why did the firefighter put is helmet down and run off with out it

    3. Why when the order was given "Water on " did the pump operater walk away to the cab

    4. Why was the hydrant NOT flushed throw

or do we not do basic stuff no more .

But still good job and well done still glad you do what you do

    Many thanks

    ADO

  • @lenny999100 Hydrant flushed at 4:19

  • @lenny999100

    1. Procedures vary but if Herts use Rapid Deployment, they don't need ECO

    2. Who knows why he put it down, so long as he commits with it, no big deal

    3. He walked away for a split second, soon came back

    4. As picked up, the hydrant is flushed at 4:19

Any shout can be nitpicked, and there's plenty I'd of done different. Brigades vary though, it's easy to pass comment from the outside looking in.

Oh and by ADO, do you mean Assistant Divisional Officer? Out of interest...

  • @jimmyhoffa9 In extreme circumstances such as the appliances not being able to reach the scene due to blocked roads some crews will ask for help unrolling hoses or moving hoses up to the scene but that is about it for the reasons that you stated. they Don't want things to go missing or more importantly members of the public to get injured.

  • @Crazycartercrew Standard attendance is 2 pumps (Depending on size and whether persons are trapped/reported missing it might be a standard pump or a rescue pump ladder, the rescue pump's are almost identical to the standard pumps but have a few extras i.e longer ladder). I would expect the extra third pump could be either but the reason for the extra from what i could see is that these appear to be semi-detached or terraced property's. If you need any-more info just message me....

  • Omg, my nan lived in those flats a few years ago!

  • The day BBC had a fire alarm

  • not to be critical... good job... but here in ireland we'd tackle a house fire like that with i pump and a water tanker... our backup is 20mins away... so we'd be there with a total crew of 8...

And it would only be a pumps 2 call for us.....

  • is this plasmadog

  • obvious question ... why didn't you help?

you shot a video on a boring day but why didn't you get out your place and help?

  • @ukmale4 help how exactly? they dont want some idiot fiddling with their machines. you seen the cost of a fire pump? or just the nozzle thing? they wouldnt let a non trained person help anyway.

  • interesting video, but a drunken filmer.

  • wow great pressure out of the hydrant!

  • i love the sirens on the pumps and the fact you can clearly here the radio on the first pump makes it even better

  • On a hot Summers day of August 1st 1995, I filmed a building on fire when I was 15. The same day, my footage was put on Central News at 6 pm and I got £25 for it.

  • Totally agree with "Scousefire" comment ~ the first crew moved fast ~ well done lads you did a great job ~ ~ well done and thanks to "Sonicschu" for uploading the video

  • Watford only have 2 pumps so would prob have been a pump from Garston, doubt would have been RDS as all stations in Watford and 3 rivers are wholetime.

  • Great work by the initial crew in attendance, especially as it was only a crew of 4. Also noted the 3rd pump that arrived could not get past the parked cars either side of the street and had to reverse and come around to the rear. Dont park without giving some consideration to emergency vehicles!! Anyone know if the 2nd/3rd pumps would be rds or wt??

  • @crazycartercrew by me the fire service didn't wait for the car owner, they smashed the window and pushed it so the fire engine could get past. It was on yellow lines in a narrow street. It's the careless actions of people that can cause people to die. Everyone please fit smoke alarms, the fire service will do it for you free of charge in most areas. I avoided a fire when a mains adapter overheated and went up in flames, it was only a smoke alarm going that made me look around!

  • @crazycartercrew i know the first two are wholetime, the 3rd is probably wholetime as well.

  • just watched this vid, I hope no one was hurt in this incident and the person(s) were insured and are getting back on their feet again

  • Nice one, good example of how hard a single crew work at a job before back up arrives, especially the driver who has to set into hydrants, control the pump, send radio messages etc.

  • great catch mate quite rare to get such good footage

  • Wow they moved fast.. Normally they stand around for about 10mins

  • Nice shot!

  • Good footage
