I think it was 1987 or '88, John Madden Football came out for the Apple II and maybe Commodore? Didn't look like much graphically, but a plethora of plays and stats were there! We had our own teams...our own "draft" and a league we'd play on the weekends. Good times! Just goes to show you that great graphics, doesn't make a great product...nudge, nudge to George Lucas.

I also love that about those older Maddens. They can be challenging on even pro. I mean, really, I find 03 to be quite hard when I kill 08 and 07 on the same difficulty.

I still play Madden 03(mostly to just look and fool around) and 07 and 08. Great games. I liked on Madden 03, they had madden cards that uhm, they had like all the ones now, plus the teams like Mummies and Dumbies. And you could unlock HOF players on it. Like, for example, I have Thurman Thomas, Michael Irvin, Boomer Esiason, Dwight Clark, and some more. I like 03.

Madden 2001 was so good because 2k's nfl games on dreamcast were blowing it out of the water. Madden then was the first football game on the ps2, which 2k hadn't gotten its games to yet, and EA worked their butts off to get ahead of the game. But they got the NFL license in 2005 which stopped them from working as hard and why it took them until 2009 to do what 2k first did in 2003.

I've played a lot of maddens over the year and with an exception to both Madden 10 and NCAA 10 (which were both good but still not up to potential), the maddens and ncaa's have been have not lived up to their legacy ever since the switch to PS3/360. I've been playing madden since about 03, that was a great game. 04 was incredible, probably the best one, 05 was pretty good and so was 06. But 07-09 were absolute garbage, and 10 was good but not EA good. I'm praying that madden/ncaa11 will be sweet

introduced the hit stick, great franchise mode which included the newspaper headlines. developers of madden 11 were talkin about bringing that back to spice it up and have some of the controversial players in the NFL( brandon marshall, T.O, Ocho Cinco, etc.) possibly stir up drama.

This is really the first madden i have owned on a nextgen console but after years of playing the game i can safely say that Madden 10 is the BEST madden game i have ever played.The soundtrack has walk by pantera and the gameplay allows you to make a game changing play at pretty much any time.

I really was impressed with madden 10. The fight for the fumble actually gives you a chance to get in the game and win. The only thing I havent liked for the last three years is the movement of the palyers. It isnt really realistic. Besides that good graphics and all around a good game
