Berkeley radicals are far from useless. This tumultuous time proves Cal houses a lot of students, not even considered to be "liberals," who have reason to care, and do care, about these issues. Without student interest, spirit, and passion for education and people's rights, there would be very little unrest and no one challenging The Man. Will we accept being helpless slaves to our government's folly? No. THIS is the time and the place to do something, raise awareness, and be active.

@pehya It's also the Berkely spirit to push for the state government to adopt extremely liberal fiscal policies, which have led to about a $550 billion debt. That is why their tuition rates are being raised. Maybe the majority of Berkley students should rethink their political philosophies. I hope there's a lesson to be learned here.

Regardless of state funding issues, the UC administration has not tapped the 5 billion dollar endowment, nor have they cut administrative costs... They haven't even opened their budget to the public! So before you get all sanctimonious on us, consider that there is plenty to complain about apart from Sacramento.
