  • Was J.S.Bach an accomplished violinist? If not, this is especially WOW Thank you for

    posting.

  • Every time I see this piece preformed with an orchestra visible in the background, all I can think is that the two soloists have they're own little army. The bows are in perfect lock-step with each other, it's as if they are controlled by Isaac and Shlomo!

  • This is amazing.

  • These guys made it look so simple which made me think the song was simple... until i got the sheet music.

  • the master and the apprentice in one room.

  • cos'è levità...

  • I love this piece!! I'm playing it right now...

  • ricochet bowing in 4:02?

  • @chinaispro

Shut up and enjoy this wonderfully interpreted baroque music please. Because your comment isnt helping this fine example of musical mastery.

  • the ratio of the video makes everyone look short!

    lovely performance :)

  • 4:31 is that Perlman front raw right side?

  • @MrOnurcimrin no, it's not

  • great !

  • Speechless.....

  • really good! the whole orchestra played really well! :)

  • こんなに素敵に弾けたら死んでもいい←

  • Timeless perfection. Thanks so much for uploading this.

  • What a piece of art, its coordination, its sound.... its harmony, simply perfect

  • brilliant

  • who would dislike this song??

  • @PrincesPanFry Its not a song. A song has to be sung you moron.

  • supposed to be a tad faster

  • @pratto54321 interpretation kthx...not everybody is Mutter.

  • @ymir233 moron

  • @pratto54321

    No it is not...

  • @msjuniejane1 Yes it is...

  • 2 people do not know how to tune a violin

  • @chinaispro : And, only one out of two is knowledgable on how to palce his bowtie under the violin. It is Isaac. Shlomo is slack on that account !

  • Finally !!! a good quality video of this masterpiece..... I have been looking for it for months!!! :))))

  • @isabelprado1978 me too! and now youtube found it for me according to my likes! :) when i entered it in the search field I didn't get a good hit :(

  • Who would not like this video???

  • 2 people pressed the wrong button...

  • God Stern is a beast

  • Heh, this would probably be considered a cinch, if it did not require positions.

  • @Nolsterbuckr ?

    Positions are a cinch ;)

  • is it wrong that they look sad?

  • @pepsi89 that's just the "i'm a concentrating violinist" look. everyone gets it. haha.

  • The beauty of this music..just wonderful thank you mayuoka1001 these two violinists are geniuses.Great music!

  • Divine music. Just great, thank you

  • this gave me goosebumps.

  • Stern you make me shaking!!

  • genialne

  • what year was this?

  • (To Zarihueya555) Hey Douche Bag! I did say I like the artist! Why? Great artist never commit a mistake? Everyone is entitled with their own opinion. Tell me to shut up if you can play better instruments better than me. Moron!

  • @hotbodsnz you know you can just hit the "reply" button

  • If there is a God, a part of him lived in J.S. Bach when he wrote this and all his music.

  • @greeneyesmexico Isn't that what Bach said himself?

  • I'm playing this right now! I love it!

  • sick

  • 08001 "Star"

  • this is great

  • did any knew that Isaac Stern was his mentor?

  • Just foolin'......ME?I DO kinda like draggin' that last bar out:). I am studying this, again.I l

last played it when I was in elementary school about fifty-three (3) years ago.

  • The two (2) individuals who made thumbs down may not have had opposable thumbs themselves - and have come from the planet Klingon!

  • loved it... but didnt really enjoy that rallentando near the end... too romantic for me. But other then that, BEAUTIFUL.

  • @coolpalmonkey so what's wrong with romantic...?

  • @outoftunefiddler ... well the piece itself is baroque... and in my personal taste i prefer things to be played in the correct style. It's not that i don't like the performance. I enjoyed it immensely, its just that one little portion that bothered me that's all.

  • Did bach play the violin? Or just the organ/piano?

  • @Morphae The violin too

  • beautiful

  • I played this song in junior high school. It has been my favorite classical piece for over 40 years!

  • THIS IS WHAT I CALL PERFECTION.

  • Absolutely beatiful. And not olnly for the performance of the two grea violists, but alco for the conducting of Zubin Metha.

    Thank you for the post!

  • The two who disliked the video accidentally clicked dislike....

    Wonderful!!!!

  • Thank you sooo much i need help and this helped a lot!

  • Thank you sooo much i need help and this helped a lot

  • Zukerman is playing the bass at minute 1!!!

  • I think that this video is one of the best for violin students to study !

  • Vibrato in a Baroque piece....?

  • @masked1one Yes, Bach is late Baroque so a quick Vibrato (not a Brahms) comes very well...

  • @masked1one Yes, Bach is late Baroque so a quick Vibrato (not a Brahms) comes very well...

  • I think Bach is one of the best composers ever !!!

  • WOaW !!! The way this concerto is played is so beautiful !!! I'm so amazed ! I can't even play it half as well !!!! LOL

  • this music is pure erotism! as most of the compositions by BACH. my deepest love.

The author who gives the same amount of pleasure as listened and played as well.

  • is the conductor Mehta?? it seems so, watching his technique, but then, not his face...

  • im learnin this right now. its fun!!!

  • @xXKennaNSamiXx I really enjoy learning it myself!

  • @cgviolin12 its a little diffucult cuz ive only been playin for 3 years now and my teacher gave me this piece to learn. part II. but im gettin the hang of it pretty well.

  • i can play this!!! but not that good....

  • The assistant concertmaster is Itzhak Perlman?

  • These 2 wonderful violinists definitely showed what bach is all about!

  • Yay. My 3 violin classmates and myself are currently doing the theory and technique that needs to be done with his song. Especially timing. o.o

  • at 1:31, notice hes late on one note.

  • @MrPcGames2 i do not hear a late note. are you sure?

  • @xeverus listen to how the first violin solo then listen to the second violin solo, the first violin is playing it completely insync but the second violinist is dragging, he always seems to pick it up though

  • @MrPcGames2 give the guy a break, idiot player.

  • Fantastico Stern, un mito!!!!!!!!!!!11

  • meer müsste er heißen ...

  • We played this for my school orchestra....we failed. But these two sure didn't lol

  • @MissTeenageNothing Really? Wow! Did the soloist fail or just the rest :D?

  • @ChristianOrtega123 Nooo the solist was excellent. And we're not soo bad ourselves. Except that we sped up horrendously. :P And sorta got outta sync in some places :S

  • @MissTeenageNothing Thats cool! I wonder if we will play this in High School, Im in 8th grade, what grade are you in? Check out my friend's video! She was 12 when she played this /watch?v=HYcYJFWVImw

  • They sound amazing. This is my first time hearing these two play together. They complement each other so well.

  • hahahaha

  • Gratia deo!

these two artists have mantained the necessary effect of sospension that bach often needs...it isn't a staccato...but is not at the same time the note kept for all its musical value...thank you maestri!! this interpretation is one of the best to me!

    bravi!

  • pure musicality.............stern a genius.......and mintz another one

  • @juanitodutari for that they play together

  • One of the nicest recordings. I find Shlomo's tone more full-bodied and sonorous.

  • @lekmioas i noticed that too!! most probably it's the violin..

  • original.

  • I like this. I like this a lot.

  • 4:03,...

  • Wonderful Great, the violin is the only instrument that calm the beasts,

"Very beast must be not to feel sorry"

"I do not feel any pain, then I am not so beast" 5*****pinkis.

    Martin

  • I have the STRANGEST attraction to Shlomo Mintz....I think he's cute. :)

I idolize both of these men.

  • he has the most epic name ever xDD

  • (To hotbodsnz) Tell me not: you prefer a period interpretation. If so, watch a newer video with a Baroque orquestra & shut up. We're talkin' about Mintz and Stern, dude.

  • Comment removed

  • hahaha go dude ! I like this comment a lot =)

  • Isaac Stern, Shlomo Mintz, Zubin Mehta... Dream team!!!

  • grandissimi. Per suonare Bach occorre essere dei grandi strumentisti.

Poveri barocchisti quanto devono ancora studiare.....

  • wow how old is stern in this?

  • ...as if the angels of heaven has touched my ears.

  • lmao you so so lame.

  • @OurenV2 = FAIL

  • im not the one saying "as if the angels of heaven have touched my ears" lmao go back to play with your fairy friends

  • ive played this duet before, and im a MMA fighter , no ones ever called me a fairy for liking or performing this piece. your just an insecure pussy

  • How old are you...two?

  • do two year olds use computers nowadays?

  • @OurenV2 You do, so I guess they do...

  • Absolutely pure bliss to watch this great performance!

  • The second violin is the one who starts first.

  • good tempo. Mehta knows to conduct.

  • Shlomo Mintz came to my school UBC school of music!!!!!! he is awesome kind and fantastic player!

    totally inspired

  • 18 children several died though

  • I played this piece probably six months ago... it was very fun to learn, though challenging. Thanks for posting this

  • Oh, one of them made a mistake at 1:55-1:56.

But we aren't perfect, I am certainly not. Nothing compared to them. They are great. This is one of the funner duets for bach.

  • It's nota mistake you idiot, shut up if you don t know nothing about music and violin. ''This is one of the funner duets for bach''-you really talk like an ignorant

  • lol dont be such a dick, but yeah that was a pretty dumb comment on the other guys part.

  • so if it was what you want?

  • im saying ure being rude to him, when u probably dont know much about music ureself.

  • I know, how you know if i don t know idiot

  • by the way u talk.

  • Why are you so antagonistic? Is it because I wasn't eloquent enough in my initial comment? Please thwart your propaganda else where. I've played this duet before, I love it. I enjoyed playing it. And I will say it again, it was FUN to play it.

I still hold firm to 1:55-1:56, hearing a squeak. I personally like Sholmo and Issac. Don't chop my head off for making an opinion.

I find it so funny how some people are do defensive. Just enjoy the music. Lord.

  • I heard it too

  • Mintz does do a wonderful job. Stern is absolute perfection! I love Stern, he was the classical virtuoso's virtuoso! The best! Wow! What a great performance! Loved it, loved it, loved it! Thanks for posting!

  • bach never wrote any bad music and this is one of his best. played wonderfully by theese two great violinists

  • @themusicdr That´s true :)

  • @themusicdr : Quite right !

    Saludos

  • Thank you so much for posting this :D

  • omg they r just awsome

  • This is one of the very few pieces where having 2nd violin is just as fun as first. Both Stern and Mintz do a great job.

  • i would give anything to be able to play this half as well as these gentlemen do...absolutely beautiful.

  • @6793masquerade6793 they did give everything.

  • @erroll9621 i don't think you understood his comment. he means he would do anything to play HALF as well as they did, meaning that they played wonderfully

  • @6793masquerade6793 : Start now. No matter how old or young you are !

  • 好美的旋律~~~共鳴中包含所有的感動~~~

  • 4:33...is that Perlman in 1st violin section?

  • can't be. perlman can't stand due to polio; this guy can and his jaw is longer than perlman's.

  • nope, at least i dont think so...

  • wow shlomo looks really young...his skill still only keeps growing today

  • he's expressions kinda like perlman's, which is kinda funny (haha funny)

  • ah it's so beautiful thanks for uploading!! (:

  • Beautiful!

  • SUCH TRUE MASTERS>>>YOU CAN TOTALLY SEE THE DIFF ON HOW HE PLAYS COMPARED TO THE OTHERS who played the same piece.....

  • Brilliant! Thanks for posting this gem.

  • Bravoooo!!!!

  • winrx piece of shit ignorant , the master Stern died on September 22, 2001.
