i saw this movie in QUEST not too long ago and had 12 questions about it with them having to have at least a paragraph each considering how much this movie impacted on me i had a lot to say :) such a great movie
I love how the movie barely corresponds to the book, cutting out near all the characters, re-writing all of the remaining characters, eliminating Peekay's will to be welterweight champion and completely changing the ending
I am thank you for your work in posting the film The Power Of One, because I live in a small town in Brazil and I saw this movie once, in Goiania then never again. and had memories of the suffering of a people of an African nation who lived on some unfair rules, Greetings from BRAZIL
@heresjohnnnyy1 you should probably just READ the book, because it's amazing!!! and this movie is nothing like the book, so you will fail. Also, you will fail at life by not reading the book.
Just wanted to say that this movie was crap. Just happened to see it online when I was browsing. Rented it a few years ago, was SO disappointed- terrible casting, and so far from the book it was practically unrecognizable! Terrible.
To you reading for the summer the move is very different from the book read the 1st chapter and watch the movie with in five min you will see a very big differences.
im not going to lie. the only reason i am watching this is because i have to read the power of one for summer reading. When i was reading it, i didn't even know who the fuck was white or black. this helps.
no more apartheid but the distribution of wealth is no different from pre-apartheid era, that is to say life hasn't been that much better for many people.
@keepbleedingluv101 in the novel, he was sent because his mother was sent to a concentration camp of sorts because she was misidentified as a different race, pk couldn't learn from his mom so he had to go to boarding school but because the family had little money it wasn't a very good one
he was younger than the next youngest by three years, and the older guy was actually only 12-13ish in the book AKA "the judge"
@missjennvmassey No it was the jewish store owner, not hoppie groenwald, he learned his key dictum from hoppie, first with the head then with the heart.
@BOLSHEVIXTREME i said israel because alot of people don't know palestine...the palestinians have been under aparthied in south africa for more than 50 years and it continues till today
@doczg88 unlkess all decent people of all races unite and try to stamp out discrimination against all races religions cultures etc, i dont think discrimination in general will stop
@BOLSHEVIXTREME very nice statement...the white western world force the SA to quit apartheid...it would be nice if black African states force SA to give minority of 5 million people equal rights, the same as majority...the present situation is very ugly...what I read about economic, language and cultural discrimination...and probably the half of white population are to young to be responsible at all for apartheid...but they are discriminated...that isn't fair...
@BOLSHEVIXTREME true...this is the same all over the world...lack of moral virtue...and democracy doesn't work without that...but I would advice you to think very carefully about your position...communism doesn't work either...it only brings poverty and violence...I live in former communist country and I wish Patton liberated us in 45' not the reds...I'm sorry you have this radical and proven wrong thinking...for you and your community because it will bring you no good...
@BOLSHEVIXTREME Even if we were all the same color humans would find a way to discriminate. Look at India's caste system for example. Two people may be the same color, age, religion and born in the same town yet one is deemed untouchable. Could you imagine being branded untouchable?
@VileOgre i know the entire human race is very corrupt
the thing is there are so many easy simple ways to help maek the world a better place but us humans are too bigoted, selfish, greedy and corrupt to pout these fantastic ideas into practice
You sir, are a dumbfounded idiot. Go to South Africa and listen to black people saying they wish it was sitll apartheid because atleast then they had housing and could feed their families and still be save. If you did not live in SA or you are not from then there then STFU you don't know shit.
@Jenzmeiring omg this is the most ridiculous thing i have heard in my entire life.. am south african and no one says they wish there was apartheid u actually need to find out what that means to an african(being made slaves)
We had to read the book when I was in high school. One of the kids in my class just watched the movie and wrote the paper based on the movie. Turns out the move (although good in its own right) is NOTHING like the book so the guy failed the class. Great movie though
When world war 2 happened, the British, and the Germans were at war. Both of them are technically white people. So, British people were moved into camps in German controlled parts of Africa. Race is just one of the things we humans war about. But we've been killing each other for lesser reasons since the dawn of time. Hopefully, we learn how pointless it is.
@DannyGuhl Depends on what your essay's about. I say Hoppie because he had the biggest impact on Peekay. If he'd never met him, there would be no story, because he gave Peekay the dream of boxing and the "power of one." If not for him, then no Doc, no Morrie, no beating the shit out of the Judge. Without Hoppie, there's no story. Anyway, that's why you should do Hoppie.
This is the worst rendition of a book I've ever seen...it barely follows the book....If you've never read the book, it might be o.k., but if you have....SKIP THIS NOW!
I have a question, Wath did tell the pastor about Joshua 9:20 because it didn´t has nothing with that he said, I think. Forthere I need that someone explain me about. XD
yea the book is way beter because they missed skipped about 8 or 10 mof the chapters in the book like when he starts to get interested in boxing and wen he gets tackies or the train ride so yea definetly read the book!
I just finished reading the book, and it is actually the best book I have EVER read. I loved the end... "streams in the desert." Hopefully the movie is just as good, and thanks for posting it =]
Thank you Cheez. I use to rent this for myself but most of all for my children. They are 34 and 32 and they still watch it and play the CD. My daughter just got me the book and I'm reading it now. Seems like an old friend. .Shows the integrity children can have. Another is, "Amazing Grace and Chuck" filmed here in Montana. It's about a 12 year that takes a stand and the world moves. . :)
This has got to be the best book i have ever read in my life. I hate reading because all the books i have read for school have sucked donkey pricks until this book i can only hope the movie is just as good. I just started the movie after typing this.

If you people have ever read the book... you'll find that the movie sucks. The movie is sending the wrong message. Movie is more about racism while the book is more about Peekay finding "the power of one".
Racism was a large portion of the book as well though, and it is easier to portray than the idea of "the power of one". All movies are weak compared to books. You just can't put that level of detail into a movie!
Since this is NOT available on DVD, best idea ever to make the fukk movie available in this way. --- well done ---

Boers were a group of farmers and traders who lived in South Africa and were almost friends with Africans. Against England and for Germany in IIGM.
Awesome! Its a very good movie about automotivation, fight against big problems and be the best in the unique way posible: True and Human Rights
