The politics are being completely controlled by the business sector. The wealthy elites are the ones calling the shots and the politics is a mere front for the masses. Obama promised to end the wars but he did nothing. And why are people being arrested for protesting isn't this guaranteed by the Bill of Rights? The corruption is strong.
The First Amendment to the United States Constitution states:
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
So by the government silencing those that are exercising their right to free speech, peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances is comiting treason and breaking the oath they swore to uphold and defend from enemies forigien and domestic.
A second revolution is way overdue America. It's time for you Americans to get off you're couches and take you're country back.
Canada is also long overdue for a revolution as well.
Thats what you get for voting for the 2 party system. Dont you see, its organizatiosn liek you that say you are progressive, yet you support the 2 party corporate system!
Why dont you start by supporting Greens, Independents, and other 3rd party candidates. Wake up and see the truth... Democrats and Republicans : ARE THE SAME!
tree hugging liberals. protest the killing of terrorist but its ok to kill babies. if i were to pray infront of an abortion clinic i would be arrested but its ok to attack and tear down Bush. genocide in our own country. it all makes me sick.
Which individuals have moral more significance, first trimester unborn fetuses or 600,000 dead Iraqis, 4,000 dead innocent Afghan civilians from US air strike, 20,000 Civil War stricken Afghani civilians , 4,000 American US soldiers, over a million total wounded, millions of refugees who have had to flee their destroyed cities and homes all to meet the demand from international corporations who profit from our expanding military industrial complex?
What kind of sick ramble is that? Why would you automatically assume that someone who protests wars agrees with abortion? Release yourself from the bindings of your religiosity and open your mind to the possibility that many people who protest killing, protest KILLING! Why would you even think that there is a difference between one human life, then another? Remember, judge not, lest ye be judged thyself. Do you not understand why we go to war? The Military Industrial Complex. Do Research
wow, i thought we went to war because our country was attacked by terrorist who believed in a religon that wanted all non believers dead. I am very proud of my religous beliefs, they do not protest a rightous war but they do protest the murderous slaughter of innocent children due to the uncaring nature of whore mothers. Its genocide in the most basic form and sick individuals like obama and ted kennedy called it a womans choice? anyone who supports it is sick.
I signed up for this over the internet but wasnt able to go. I have a lot of respect for people who actually get off their asses and go protest and risk arrest.
I'm hoping they'll be another protest before christmas so I can go
@iamther yeah they have every right to protest . its just that they get totally lopsided press coverage, that's predictable though (their cause aligns with private interests, anti-wars groups do not)
I think we need more laws too. There just aren't enough criminals in our prisons. In fact, we need more jobs by building more prisons. We can also have more jobs by creating more government projects and increasing taxes. That way, the IRS can hire more people.
Then we will have to hire more cops and FBI, and CIA etc. See! More government-more jobs. More taxes-more jobs. More war- more jobs (less people).
Without war, how will the military industrial complex continue to profit? We don't need to spend money on health and education, war is more fun. C'mon, there are too many people on this planet anyway. Are you kidding, we need more sick people so the the drug companies can make more jobs overseas. I say print more money so we can buy more stuff. I want more stuff don't you?
I love stuff, commercials tell me I do. We can't afford to go down the path of socialism to spend 1% of our budget on insuring poor Americans. We need to police the world with military bases in over 100 countries, and have our foreign policy run by Exxon, Boeing, and McDonalds!
Here is a good example showing that "Freedom of Speech" or peaceful protest does not exist in America. America is becoming a police state where people have no right to peaceful demonstration. Obama should be ashamed as he promised change.
Obama NEVER said he would draw down troops in Afghanistan, he consistently said he would INCREASE the numbers. Afghanistan is where we were attacked from. We have to make sure it doesn't happen again when we leave.
Debt-no jobs-losing freedoms and rights everyday,The banking cartel has this nation in debt and owns most of it..A wise person once said if the American ppl allow private banks to control the currency, theirchildren will grow up homeless in the land the forefathers conquered.
Over a million Iraq's slaughtered - Bu$h, Cheney - WAR CRIMINALS. Flew out the 100's of millions of american green backs from Irar right after occupation - so much of it - they needed forklifts. Pallets of tons of paper currency.
Totally orchestrated to fail so we can "clean up" the mess and keep control.
Bunch of theives.
Crooks.
Criminals.
Banksters.
Seems nothing America does now is worthy of mentioning - just more disaster.
Its a shame.... BHO could have been a great president..... Imagine the first black president bringing back our Constitution... It would have been awesome!
my statement didnt make sense sorry what i was saying at first the UK and the US goverment are just after oil and control all of the human race needs to unite no matter color or religeon and stamp down and stand up for all of us inocent people are dying because of a select few power hungry people, why do people go into the army why dont they wake up and see who they are really working for and for what purpose
peopel from iraq, afganistan, all of these countries the uk and the US are involved have done nothing wrong seriousley all this terror crap is made up by the secret goverment, bin laden was CIA for christ sake.
this world will only improve when people are willing to love one another no matter of color or religeon. 500 people protesting come on all you guys need to get involved im talking millions of people stand up for your country, you are all playimg into the nwo with these little protests xx
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
I see no where in the 1st amendment that states a permit is required prior to a peaceful assembly. In fact, the permit itself is "prohibiting the free exercise thereof".
This attack on President Obama is corporately driven. Just as Fox News directed the crowd and tea bagger events. Corporate progressives that work for the media like Rachel Maddow and many others starting using the term "weak" for Demcorats. This is too brain wash people so if they get President Obama to pull out of Afghanistan too quickly, the Republican message of fear and Democrats being soft will stick better. Note" the worst attack on our soil in history came under Republican control.
@stanjz you actually support you're president banning people's right to question government. That is truly sad stanjz.
Obama stated very clearly before his election that he wanted to exit Iraq and concentrate on Afghanistan and Pakistan, he said it in his TV debate against Mc Cain.
Yes, President Obama is being set up. It's not enough that he declared we don't torture anymore, we are pulling out of Iraq and we are using diplomacy against Iran.
Your protests fall on deaf ears. They care not what you want and demand. They do what THEY want and you all can go to hell as far as they're concerned. Democracy is a sham, an illusion to keep you believing the myth that you're free and don't rebel. The system requires your obedience and non-questioning compliance. The status quo is to be maintained. Fairness and justice is all an illusion. The game is rigged to favor the few elites and their police forces. Everyone else is just their slaves.
The pigs may not, can not, should not, ought not, and are prohibited to violate our freedom to assemble to make our grievances known. Our grievances allege war crimes and frivolous and expensive wars that are wrought with profiteering and corruption and which forsake our UNcorruptible Constitution. They may want us to think they have the power, but they have absolutely no right to turn any of our rrights into a privilege and then tax or "permit" it, such as this anti-war demonstration.
Wow they arrest people whose family members are fighting the war these greedy pieces of shit started. How many politicians children are in the war? Fuck the government. I can't wait for people to get pissed enough to fight back violently.
You guys understand what we soldiers are fighting for in Afghanistan and Iraq. A lot of the people are happy to have democracy and chose there leaders. Soldiers don't die for nothing.
Many of us understand what you fight for there, but that understanding is likely won't be concordant what you suppose.
In as few words as possible: It has little or nothing to do with the stated, lofty goals. They're there to deceive the public. It is fight over spheres of influence, both geopolitical and economic.
Bring all of our troops home from wherever they are stationed around the world, and give the money back to the tax payers. Just say no to big gov foreign policy and big gov domestic policy. No to the big gov run welfare/warfare state. Let freedom reign and liberty be our guide.
bbb-Just imagine there are over 150 countries that have US bases there at the cost of roughtly 1 trillion a year--close half of them--theres your free health care..
There is no such thing as free health care. Just ask those who are forced to pay taxes. Not one thing the gov does is cheaper than what can be had privately, not one thing. Bring the troops home, and allow people to keep their money. Reduce taxes, and the economy grows. That's how you get health care reform.
"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances."
What part of NO law do they not understand?
A permit is unconstitutional.
The only reason to limit it to 25 people is to reduce the psychological impact when seen on T.V.
I'm not sure if freedom of speech covers freedom to speak anywhere under any circumstances. Like there freedom of speech would be restricted 10 paces back from where they were. Why didn't they just get a permit?
lol. americans dont even need(or atleast shouldnt need) to take the money from wars for public healthcare. yous already spend more than pretty much every one on public healthcare.
yous just have a bizarre system of privitizing profits and dumping costs on the tax payer.
make up your mind whether you want a free market or full socialised healthcare.
LOL idiot is a blind sheep that is clueless to the fact when the dollar collapes the trucks will stop the welfare will stop,Dont get me wrong if gvt takes over health care i will most likely quit my stressful job and live off the system my self and work peanuts, truth be told nothing happens unless corporate elite ok it.
@smartaswhip - waiting approval you are not a free speech person, you must delete comments on your approval.. Never in history has so much money been thrown at every social problem imaginable and never has there been so much dysfunction, delusion, irresponsibility, injustice, and outright corruption top to bottom. The more money thrown at government programs the more disgracefully deviant they become.
Just because you exist ,Does not give you the right to one minute of anyones life.
Actually I don't keep any comments on my profile because I do not want the information there buried. However I answer all comments before I delete them. Most of my comments are positive and I get around 50 or so a day.
I find it interesting that when Bush was in office and people protested the war the right were against the protesters and now they are on their side. I don't think the right know what they believe in anymore.
Hey smarto, Go back to tpmtv and whine . You are on a dead horse but you still think you are riding into battle. Get a grip, join us at CAMPAIGN FOR LIBERTY. Go Ron Paul
Why would join someone who just insulted me? I will post any place I want to thanks anyway. Sorry if I make you feel uncomfortable as that is not my intention.
We simply can Not stand by and let others stand in the way of us getting REAL health care reform. Now is the time to take action. See the comment section of my profile for ways in which you can get more involved.
Who the hell cares about some bs health care reform when we are about to lose the dollar as the world currency--you're worried about health care while we are about to lose our dollar as world currency=3rd world living..they have got you fighting a dead end fight.America will no longer be in a few years with this debt and violation of rights,we will be russia where you have to wait 4 yrs in jail to get a trial.Police state coming to a town near you--dont speak out you will be a terrorist.lolsheep
Some people are able to focus on more than one issue at a time.. apparently you don't seem to be one of them. Not my fault. The fact is you should be concerned about what is going on regarding health care because it will directly have an effect on you. Most Americans realize that weather they are for it or against it. LOL IDIOT
No one is buying our debt-IMF is pushing for global currency--that means our free ride of being world currency is almost over--do you under stand wht it means when no country or evena communist country buys our debt..do you realize how close we are to total collapes--look at history and research hyperinflation-Health care is the least of our problems. But they make a big issue of it to hide the truth that we are going under.
Its doesnt matter what you ppl want-the corporate families run your world and if they want war you will be sucked into it.Most of the politicians are corrupt-and the elite own the most of the police ans all of the private military..
Yeah so just give up and stop talking about it and buy stuff. Oh wait - no, actually - don't listen to this guy - go talk rationally about it with each other and then stop buying their products and see how much power they retain.
At 1:35 the woman rightly mentions the "invasion" in Afghanistan...
But most people always mention "war in Iraq", "war in (or with) Afghanistan...
Bottom line is: WAR= two armies fighting. But here US gov. decided to INVADE.
There was not a case for declaring war, there was no attack coming from Iraq or Afghanistan. In both cases the invasions were based on unproven accusations from the US government. In both countries the loss life on their side is a lot bigger than US soldiers.
The people demonstrating against the war, or military invasions to be more accurate, are completely right in opposing the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations. It's costing lives of innocent, the US adm. spends lots of money leaving less for education, health, job creation, etc.
The Bush admin. spent 8 years on the wildest ride into bankrupting the US.
Watch IRAQ FOR SALE and other docum. showing who profit on the Iraq invasion.
As a conservative, I don't agree with them but I fully support their right to protest. It's too bad as a Republican, I'm labeled "an extremist" if I choose to peacefully protest!
I think ALL people who choose to protest peacefully are being labeled radical now - and we all have to stop doing it to people just because we disagree. What rational thinking people need to do is talk rationally with those who disagree and call out the TRUE radicals for who they are and push them to the fringe where they belong. If you cannot discuss things without personal attack, without racial slurs, and without rage, you don't deserve to be a part of the discussion.
Obama never claimed he was going to stop the afghan war, in fact he stated plain and clear he was going to ramp up "the good war" .
i agree with comments above, it's easy to say we're fighting "the taliban", but the truth is we're fighting regular afghans who don't want to be occupied, you'd think the right winger neo-con idiots would actually understand this, what would they do if the afghan army occupied America ? stand by and let it happen ?, yeh, right! .
Understand the comments of the people at the rally. But the truth is at the moment there is no way to exit Afghanistan without the country falling back in to the Talliban's hands and we end up with a terrorist state that poses a threat through exportation of terrorism. I agree we need the war to end, but packing up and leaving will only make the situation worse for the west and give a massive boost to ideological extremists. And what about the people of Afghanistan, what happens to them?
Have some more kool aid why don't you? Taliban has only seen its ranks grow as a result of our occupation. What about the people of Afghanistan? I don't know, maybe they'll stop being murdered by foreigners with assault rifles and highly advanced weaponry? Maybe they'll stop being labelled terrorist for defending their homes?
I would imagine a state similar to Cambodia in the 1970's, death to anyone but the most subservient or totally uneducated. 4 million + people were killed in Cambodia by their own people. What do you seriously think will happen in Afghanistan if the Taiiban takes control again? A reconciliation with the population and a few firm handshakes?
A truce must be found and it must save face on both sides or this bloody war will continue.
You're setting up a false dichotomy between the taliban and the rest of the population. Most of the population is siding with the taliban and not with the foreign invaders. Imagine Russia came to the US and deployed 100s of 1000s of troops and were actively seeking out resistance groups and eliminating them. Who would you side with, the resistance groups or the Russians?
I'm not 'Setting up a false dichotomy'. I'm expressing my opinion that there will be massive implications for the Afghan population who do not side with the Taliban. Look at the conditions in Afghanistan before the Taliban came to power and after. Are you so sure the Afghans will be happy and content the minute British & US forces leave? I'm allowed to express my opinion whether you agree or not. Not something necessarily allowed in a Taliban controlled state. Think about that oggleman!
It's USA soldiers who are killing tens of thousands of civilians, not the Taliban. If anything the people of Afghanistan would be far better under local Taliban rule than the foreign empire imposed occupation they currently live under.
Yes, you're allowed to express your opinion stevenmg77, just like some of us allowed to disagree with it and debate it on its merit. Your whole reasoning is faulty. Nothing shall be better, by insisting on a failed military occupation. Yes there will be hardships, but those will be there no matter what. There is always hardship and sorrow when an empire shrinks back. In any case these military adventures are clearly unsustainable, so this debate is superficial.
No I don't think everything will be "perfect" after the NATO forces leave, but they'll be better off certainly. The NATO occupation is helping nothing, and only makes the Taliban and Al-Qaeda MORE POWERFUL, it's radicalizing the population. You're arguing that two wrongs make a right: it's ok for us to go and kill Afghan civilians because if we weren't doing it someone else would. Also you didn't answer my question of who would you support if Russia attacked the US.
That's a pointless 2 dimensional comparison and as you put it, 'a false dichotomy'
Packing up and leaving cos its got too tough is not the answer in my opinion. If you knew anything about the history of this country you would know that the population has been brutalized by the Taliban, warlords, Russian and western forces. This was a progressive country, now its living in the middle ages. The population needs help and stability not more war. That's the point I'm making.
I don't think we should leave because "it got too tough" I think we should leave because we have no right to be there. It's an illegal invasion since Afghanistan posed no immediate threat to us. Perhaps false dichotomy was the wrong phrase to use but it is true that there is no clear distinction between insurgent and civilian. If Russians invaded the US and started killing resistance groups, would you support the insurgents or the Russians?
Did you ever consider WHY these groups might be upset? Like perhaps they're real people with legitimate concerns? Their tactics are obviously wrong but they're justifiably opposed to us coming and killing civilians just so we can establish geopolitical hegemony. If we stopped our war of aggression their terror tactics would quickly lose support locally and internationally. So to answer your question we should be working towards NO battlefield, not just keeping it in their country.
If my government stopped freedom of speech, closed schools, favored a brutal religious ideology, introduced public floggings & executions through stoning, opposed medical care, banned any rights for women, and killed anyone who opposed them, then I would welcome the Russians if I believed conditions might improve. Just cos it's your own countrymen & government being attacked doesn't mean that you would oppose it under certain conditions. I'm sure Cambodians, Germans, Somalians, Burmese agree.
What makes you think that is the aim of our intervention in those countries? Protection of human rights not our aim, our aim is control over the region strategically placed between the east and west hemispheres and is rich in natural resources. If humanitarianism was our aim why are we not in tibet, sri lanka, DR of congo, zimbabwe, gaza, saudi arabia, etc? It's a big lie. We're at war with a local population. We have no right to be there. It's an illegal occupation.
The country only came under Talibaan control because our arming of them in the first place. If we didn't stick our nose in countries it had no business being in the Taliban never would have been a problem.
well i would be smart enough not to go in that shithole in the first place xD just leave them alone. its just a bunch of fanatic cavedwellers which want their islam and no western influence at all
this war has been going on for 9 years - so who started it? Not President Obama. My son (in the service) was there before they illlegally declared war on Iraq. Of course Russia went belly up fighting over there. Fucking bush cheney were so geared to to pay back their oil buddies, so they went after Iraq.
i heared that obamas chiefadvisor, the former cia guy zbignew bresinski, tricked the russians to go into afghanistan in the first place and even hired osama bin laden to fight the russians there to weaken or destroy their empire in a quagmire like that.. he bragged about it in his book "the grand chessboard".. ill send you a link ^^
yes it's true, America created Al-qaeda and recruited bin laden as its leader to help the Taliban in the Afghan-Russo war, not to mention they gave them weapons like Stinger missiles for that purpose.
ah yes they mention the stinger missles in rambo 3 too lol back then the talibans were still the good guys.. do they still show that one in american tv?? must he highly controversial by now ^^
It is not as easy to stop a war after you have blasted away a country. These are some pissed people - can you blame them? They said they had no weapons of mass destruction =-and they had no weapons of mass destruction. How would you feel if it was america? Yes Obama should stop it but he should not be blamed for it. You could start with bush cheney and then the top 25 vicious Iraq war profiteers and then tell me how you are going to stop the war.
It pisses me off that tea-baggers are simply idealogically or selfishly concerned concerned yet fail to see how the wars are part of the malaise in government.
What teaparty activists are you talking about? Most of them that I know about are Ron Paul supporters who are adamantly against all of these offensive wars. Who are you talking about?
I'm talking about all those whom loudly (and correctly) decry Obama's socialism for the rich policies but don't protest the wars out of fear of being labelled 'unpatriotic' or of being arrested.
unfortunately the pre Obama tea parties were smaller events, more in line with the 500 or so here against the war, compared to the thousands whose "awaking" seems to correspond with the election of a black democrat in to the white house.
That's the problem I have with most of them as well. The majority are simply partisans who are against the Democratic party but were perfectly okay with the same policies when a Republican was in charge.
What exactly is your point? That racists exists who don't like Obama? That after the Bush administration was ridiculed some of these people glommed onto the liberty movement? Just as no one challenges the fact that there some bad conservatives, no one would claim that all liberals are good. The pejorative term "teabagger" is not appropriate to describe a warmonger.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
The tea-baggers are riled up by republicans and Fox News. Check who organized the Health marches on Washington. Theyre sheep. It's one of the Republican's "weapons" these next few years, the supposed marches and anger.
he's right though. Where were the massive protest against the first bailout? Where were the massive protest against the Patriot act and NCLB? Protest exsited, no doubt But it wasn't until Fox News offered their free advertising that it became a movement.
There were 100 thousand ppl that protested against the war in Iraq--but I think the media forgot to show it..I know ppl that live in NY and told me tons of people protest but nothing aired--and there are protest of the 1st bailout--one is on my fav..Its not all about Obama and though you hate to hear it most that dis approve of this adm debt, also dislike bush crimes..Obama seems like a nice person but hes not much different than bush in my eyes-Same ppl pulling the strings.
kid-Because I care for this country and its people.I just recently figured out late in bush jr 2nd term..And after reasearching i have come to the conclusion that we really have no voice or choice when it comes to real change. Then i seen how the media plays each side against the other,we can never come together when they have us divided.Ex1 white cop black prof--all you hear about..racism..But black kids can beat a young man to death and no misleaders try to stop these crimes.cont,
Thats where he should stand up-set these kids right..with all the research from bush sr to mnsto-clinton nafta-bush need more than 500 words for him-then to the next false leader--the people in power is an illusion-the banks write their bills-insurance co,write their bills, corporations/military indutrial complex-corrupt and and keep us in debt..Most of the protestors I know are very anti war and anti bush-BO had his chance but follows in GB footsteps.
There can be no economic recovery without jobs which are created by Americans spending into the economy- not endless extensions of unemployment checks which will only prolong the misery of Americans. There can be no real economic freedom and prosperity as long as the FED remains the central bank in this country issuing worthless fiat currency to fund the criminal spending by Congress. We either drive the banking cartel out once and for all or our demise is a done deal
Look, I've heard this rant before, down with the fed, the media is putting us against each other, false choices, no change ect. This is not a new phenomenon. Individuals have been saying this for at least the last 5 years. Nothing has changed. The only difference is (quite ironic when considering your comment on the media) is that Fox is the reason this has gone from "you and the people you know" to a full scale movement.
So, are you making the argument that other news outlets wouldn't have given conservatives a fair platform? Well, it just so happens that they haven't...did they cover the (peaceful) 9/12 rally? I guess MSNBC will only deems your rally worthy if there were muliple arrests and utter chaos.
BTW, the Fox News fixation is getting a little boring. Most media outlets lean left...(although they're unexceptional) why can't you just be happy having the majority of news sources?
My beef with Fox news has nothing to do with the left right paradigm.
My problem with Fox News is that they plugged there appearances at the tea party protest (and by extension the tea parties themselves) for two weeks in advance.
also they had a "reporter" from Greta's show follow them along and stood in the crowd like a rock star and say every night, "THESE ARE REAL AMERICANS WHO ARE STANDING UP TO THE GOVERNMENT WOO HOO!"
and the people who are most hurt by this, the TEA PARTY PROTESTERS
I dont care much for faux news after how they ridiculed the real leader Ron Paul-but if they are the reason ppl are finally getting off their lazy azz and holding these crooks accountable for their corrupt mis use of our dollar and rights then so be it.
We pay 500 million a day in interest from that borrowed money..Thanks to GWB and BO for selling us out..enough is enough, its time to stop these sell outs from further bankrupting our kids future,it looks like the same thing russia went thru.
Renegen is right. Those people act like Glen Beck is some kind of messianic figure and Fox News is the only media outlet whose integrity has been sparred. As if by divine province or something. All the news channels are corrupt...except that one. It's beyond stupidity. It's willful ignorance.
Yes, caveat emptor. President Obama was always clearly pro NATO hegemony and pro finance capital. Otherwise, he never would have been marketed strategically long before even the Democratic primary. The elites got everything they paid for, and the people proved yet again that they are ignorant and lazy consumers that never look under the hood.

Canada is also long overdue for a revolution as well.

wow, i thought we went to war because our country was attacked by terrorist who believed in a religon that wanted all non believers dead.

This is the kind of grass roots involvement we need nationally.

@iamther yeah they have every right to protest . its just that they get totally lopsided press coverage, that's predictable though (their cause aligns with private interests, anti-wars groups do not)

It's a shame you have to point out our sarcasm...I'm not sure if I'm cynical enough to have to decide whether or not it was necessary to mention it.

BTW...I'm being sarcastic.
melpuzon 2 years ago
Without war, how will the military industrial complex continue to profit? We don't need to spend money on health and education, war is more fun. C'mon, there are too many people on this planet anyway. Are you kidding, we need more sick people so the the drug companies can make more jobs overseas. I say print more money so we can buy more stuff. I want more stuff don't you?
melpuzon 2 years ago
I love stuff, commercials tell me I do. We can't afford to go down the path of socialism to spend 1% of our budget on insuring poor Americans. We need to police the world with military bases in over 100 countries, and have our foreign policy run by Exxon, Boeing, and McDonalds!
Champraves311 2 years ago
Here is a good example showing that "Freedom of Speech" or peaceful protest does not exist in America. America is becoming a police state where people have no right to peaceful demonstration. Obama should be ashamed as he promised change.

Our grievances allege war crimes and frivolous and expensive wars that are wrought with profiteering and corruption and which forsake our UNcorruptible Constitution. There is no such thing as free health care. Just ask those who are forced to pay taxes. Not one thing the gov does is cheaper than what can be had privately, not one thing.
In both countries the loss life on their side is a lot bigger than US soldiers.
sunamori6765 2 years ago 3
The people demonstrating against the war, or military invasions to be more accurate, are completely right in opposing the Iraq and Afghanistan occupations. It's costing lives of innocent, the US adm. spends lots of money leaving less for education, health, job creation, etc.

And what about the people of Afghanistan, what happens to them?
stevenmg77 2 years ago
Have some more kool aid why don't you? Taliban has only seen its ranks grow as a result of our occupation. What about the people of Afghanistan? I don't know, maybe they'll stop being murdered by foreigners with assault rifles and highly advanced weaponry? Maybe they'll stop being labelled terrorist for defending their homes?
oggleman 2 years ago 2
I would imagine a state similar to Cambodia in the 1970's, death to anyone but the most subservient or totally uneducated. 4 million + people were killed in Cambodia by their own people. What do you seriously think will happen in Afghanistan if the Taiiban takes control again? A reconciliation with the population and a few firm handshakes?
A truce must be found and it must save face on both sides or this bloody war will continue.
stevenmg77 2 years ago
You're setting up a false dichotomy between the taliban and the rest of the population. Most of the population is siding with the taliban and not with the foreign invaders. Imagine Russia came to the US and deployed 100s of 1000s of troops and were actively seeking out resistance groups and eliminating them. Who would you side with, the resistance groups or the Russians?
oggleman 2 years ago 4
I'm not 'Setting up a false dichotomy'. I'm expressing my opinion that there will be massive implications for the Afghan population who do not side with the Taliban. Look at the conditions in Afghanistan before the Taliban came to power and after. Are you so sure the Afghans will be happy and content the minute British & US forces leave? I'm allowed to express my opinion whether you agree or not. Not something necessarily allowed in a Taliban controlled state. Think about that oggleman!
stevenmg77 2 years ago
It's USA soldiers who are killing tens of thousands of civilians, not the Taliban. If anything the people of Afghanistan would be far better under local Taliban rule than the foreign empire imposed occupation they currently live under.
ArcticSlicer 2 years ago 2

Also you didn't answer my question of who would you support if Russia attacked the US.
oggleman 2 years ago
That's a pointless 2 dimensional comparison and as you put it, 'a false dichotomy'
Packing up and leaving cos its got too tough is not the answer in my opinion. If you knew anything about the history of this country you would know that the population has been brutalized by the Taliban, warlords, Russian and western forces. This was a progressive country, now its living in the middle ages. The population needs help and stability not more war. That's the point I'm making.
stevenmg77 2 years ago
I don't think we should leave because "it got too tough" I think we should leave because we have no right to be there. It's an illegal invasion since Afghanistan posed no immediate threat to us. Perhaps false dichotomy was the wrong phrase to use but it is true that there is no clear distinction between insurgent and civilian. If Russians invaded the US and started killing resistance groups, would you support the insurgents or the Russians?
oggleman 2 years ago
The terrorist are everywhere, you would like the battlefield to be where?
OBAMASTINIAN 2 years ago
Did you ever consider WHY these groups might be upset? Like perhaps they're real people with legitimate concerns? Their tactics are obviously wrong but they're justifiably opposed to us coming and killing civilians just so we can establish geopolitical hegemony. If we stopped our war of aggression their terror tactics would quickly lose support locally and internationally. So to answer your question we should be working towards NO battlefield, not just keeping it in their country.
oggleman 2 years ago
Wait a minute--I have been brain washed by the media to call you ppl right wing nut jobs, but yet you are against war,,hmm what else am i missing?)
xsleef 2 years ago
If my government stopped freedom of speech, closed schools, favored a brutal religious ideology, introduced public floggings & executions through stoning, opposed medical care, banned any rights for women, and killed anyone who opposed them, then I would welcome the Russians if I believed conditions might improve. Just cos it's your own countrymen & government being attacked doesn't mean that you would oppose it under certain conditions. I'm sure Cambodians, Germans, Somalians, Burmese agree.
stevenmg77 2 years ago
What makes you think that is the aim of our intervention in those countries? Protection of human rights not our aim, our aim is control over the region strategically placed between the east and west hemispheres and is rich in natural resources. If humanitarianism was our aim why are we not in tibet, sri lanka, DR of congo, zimbabwe, gaza, saudi arabia, etc? It's a big lie. We're at war with a local population. We have no right to be there. It's an illegal occupation.

The tea-baggers are riled up by republicans and Fox News. Check who organized the Health marches on Washington. Theyre sheep. It's one of the Republican's "weapons" these next few years, the supposed marches and anger.

Renegan...your comment is ridiculous!

he's right though. Where were the massive protest against the first bailout? Where were the massive protest against the Patriot act and NCLB? Protest exsited, no doubt But it wasn't until Fox News offered their free advertising that it became a movement.

There were 100 thousand ppl that protested against the war in Iraq--but I think the media forgot to show it..I know ppl that live in NY and told me tons of people protest but nothing aired--and there are protest of the 1st bailout--one is on my fav..Its not all about Obama and though you hate to hear it most that dis approve of this adm debt, also dislike bush crimes..Obama seems like a nice person but hes not much different than bush in my eyes-Same ppl pulling the strings.

.Its not all about Obama and though you hate to hear it most that dis approve of this adm debt, also dislike bush crimes.
I don't believe that, why should I, or anybody else believe that for that matter? I'm serious.

kid-Because I care for this country and its people.I just recently figured out late in bush jr 2nd term..And after reasearching i have come to the conclusion that we really have no voice or choice when it comes to real change.

Next time, try using basic English.

RightProud 2 years ago

Then you should also have an issue with the agenda of every media source....you can't cherry-pick.

Renegen is right. Those people act like Glen Beck is some kind of messianic figure and Fox News is the only media outlet whose integrity has been sparred. As if by divine province or something. All the news channels are corrupt...except that one. It's beyond stupidity. It's willful ignorance.

Anyone who voted for Obama becasue they thought he would end the wars never listened to the fact he came out in support of more war in Afghanistan.
Also, since when did public opnion about a war give legitimacy to it?

i remmber ralph nader being against the wars. people don't think though
