What we have is an animal so privileged in its dominance over creatures similar in size that it has come to the point of grounded hunting mechanism to catch its prey. It's hunting far more complicated than that of a lion or bear and at the same time occurring beneath our feet. Not to mention the utilization of pheromones, how the heck do animals evolve such natural biochemical weapons?
Fights between religion and science are to no winner and both are equally good. Religion gives a point of view for pure beauty and appreciation for life and science gives the understanding of how this came to be.
So what was the evolutionary route from a singled celled creature to, eventually, this species via the action of non-random Natural selection acting on random mutations? We are never told. Despite all the bluster there is not "overwhelming" evidence for it, quite the contrary. The hypothesis is ridiclulous.
Yes, indeed, ostracisation follows quickly. It is the real world version of Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale "The Emperors New Clothes"! Amazing to behold but unpleasant in the experience.
@StarSpawn06 I teach in one, and half the subjects you list. But I notice you do not even attempt an answer to the question posed. In fact I venture that if you did attempt an answer it would soon become apparent that you do not even understand the question and issues in contention. And in any case would be able to give little evidence in direct support of the actual theory. Also you list Entomology, although spiders are not insects, while claiming Cladistics is in your skills set!
if you do already teach "in one, and half" of the subjects I mentioned ( of course, it's arachnology instead of entomology, I apologize for not taking Youtube comments as seriously as academic papers ),
then please explain how you can find the "hypothesis is ridiculous".
also, which blanks in the "evolutionary route" do you wish to be filled in ?
that there exists "an evolutionary route from a singled celled creature to, eventually, this species".
It is not "ridiculous", as it does not go against any law of biology.
( improbable does not mean impossible. As long as the Probability of an event is non-zero, it is bound to happen somewhere sooner or later. We call it "random mutation" since we cannot predict where and when it occurs. )
If that was not the hypothesis you were talking about, sorry for the confusion.
@allan3141 If you knew anything at all about evolutionary science you would know that the evidence is in fact overwhelming. Evolution is a fact. There is no question about that.
Evolution deniers know they can't come up with any real evidence to contradict evolution, so all they do is pretend that the mountains of evidence supporting evolution, of which the fossil record is just a bonus (without fossils we would still have overwhelming evidence of the truth of evolution by natural selection).
Respond to this video... If you really want to know the facts about evolution, I highly recommend Jerry Coyne's "Why Evolution is True" and Richard Dawkins's "The Greatest Show On Earth: The Evidence for Evolution". Don't just blindly listen to what your religious leaders tell you to believe. Read the books. The evidence is there.
@allan3141 Besides the fossil record, we have observation of bacteria evolving in response to various pressures such as antibiotics - drug-resistant bacteria are drug-resistant because the resistance has been "selected for"; that is, the bacteria that develop a mutation giving them resistance to antibiotics survive and reproduce. Bacteria reproduce many thousands or millions of times faster than larger organisms and thus the evolution of bacteria can be observed in the laboratory.

Good vid, but quite an unfair annotation. His videos are pure documentary of animals, not a religion propaganda.

well,if you were an academic
this would be enough for you to get expelled
dont think that much, just follow what your 'elders' in science says
just like an organized 'religion'

@allan3141
go to the nearest institution of higher learning, take a course in: Logic, Probability, Introductory biology, Genetics, Cladistics, Entomology.
Make sure you pass all of those.
no pain no gain ;)

I made no claim. It was merely a suggestion.

@StarSpawn06 ""then please explain how you can find [that] the "hypothesis is ridiculous". [sic][?]""
Can you sum up what the actual hypothesis is? I ask, because, even your question, that follows, suggests, to me, that you are not clear on this point.
So in good faith, and so we are not talking at cross purposes; what is the actual hypothesis, just broad outline?
